How about just

i

That way Apple have their personal (hence the i) lifestyle products, iPod, iPhone.
Their personal home computers: iMac.
Their workclass enterprise computers (no i): Mac Pro, Macbook Pro

(I am ignoring the Macbook 'cos it doesn't fit into this model :p )

The new tablet, i, would be the one ring to rule them all. It would achieve interconnectivity with all mentioned devices, unifying home and leisure (audio, video, web surfing) with professional features (extra screen, trace board for drawing, and if you believe all sources, even a projector)

How about just

i

I hope they don't stick another "i" name on it. It's overdone. It was good branding before it became annoying to the unconverted. Ask a few of them about Apple products, and one of the first things they say is, "god, what's with all this i i i i i stuff. sounds like a self-centered egomaniac was behind it." (ahem).

So perhaps we take your suggestion, but remove the "i". Then we'll have a winner.

and in all honesty ... it ought to be the update to the air
if it's a tablet, it will be handheld and in the air .. macbook air is the way to go

This product launch seems to be the most exciting one yet

I'm putting my money on Macbook Touch.

I feel strongly the word Touch is going to be in the name. It might be the TouchBook, Apple TouchPad...ect.

iSlate is not going to be the name, I just get the feeling Apple is starting to move away from the "i" branding and will start using Apple or Mac in new product names.

I'm thinking now either
Apple Canvas
Mac Canvas.

This sort of fits the marketing with splashes of paint.

Air Book
Air Mac
Air Slate
Air Pad
Air Page
Apple Pad
iSaac (like the Newton)

i think this would be awesome, i actually started a thread with this (that'll teach me to search ) It would be a cool way to pay homage to a device that was simply ahead of its time
