There is definitely something going on.
I went to Apple.com to check out the Apple TV..
Here's what I got.
You think there going to announce the apple tv 3 on the 7th & have it on the shelfs the same day?

My gripe with Apple TV too, lack of Hulu. I hope a software update or Apple TV 3 will have Hulu.
Hulu.com is a free option for users who want to watch TV shows on their computers. Hulu is limited to the PC environment. Hulu Plus enables users to watch Hulu content instantly in HD (720p) to internet-connected TVs, Blu-ray players, gaming consoles, set-top boxes, iPads, iPhones, and many other devices.
I've been watching this thread for a few days. I honestly don't know why anyone feels the need to say "This isn't a good sign of an update".
- Even if this way the only sign, and its not, this is a RUMORS website, people speculate on rumor website, MacRumors, Canon Rumors.. thats what people do.
- For the last 2 years that I've been on this site, lack of inventory HAS been a decent indicator. I hasn't been perfect but there absolutely HAS some correlation. Not 100% but again, it's been a decent indicator.
- For a "rumor" website why work so hard to prove some one else wrong, we all know that this is peculation, if you think that it's wrong, just move on with your day. Only time will tell.
I do have Hulu plus so it would be great for me then.If the ATV3 does get native Hulu support, it will be for likely be Hulu Plus only, not the free Hulu you can get online, meaning you'll have to pay a monthly subscription fee to use it. (Hulu states that Hulu Plus is for TV-connected devices, while the regular Free Hulu is only for use on the computer. See here: http://www.hulu.com/plus-?src=topnav
Also it's been possible to get Hulu (both free and paid versions) on the current ATV2 for over a year now. It involves jailbreaking, but is not difficult and costs you no money. Instructions are here:

Of course, at this point you should definitely wait since the new ATV3 will likely be out in just over a week. But even then, it's likely to be jailbroken at some point and then you'll likely get free Hulu access on the ATV3 at that point.

This, PLUS the reduced inventory is NOT THE ONLY INDICATOR. At this point MR has posted other evidence suggesting the ATV will be updated alongside the iPad. (item model number, rumors from insider sources ala 9to5mac, etc.)
I think the people here who are saying that inventory ALONE is not a decent indicator of an imminent refresh are technically correct. But a confluence of evidence INCLUDING low inventory, new part numbers, a confirmed upcoming Apple event, and insider leaks and rumors, all taken together, ARE a decent indicator.
