They’re living underground in a centuries-old bunker filled with old, failing technology. You’re expecting gleaming, sunny scenes?!
No I just expect the content to be lighter than the IPS backlight leaking through.

A giant silo containing 10.000 people, compromising at 144 levels and it only has 1 power generator? No backup generators? Lol. The people who designed the silo(s) are clearly very bright. Lmao.

I liked the show, and the twist on the typical post-apocalyptic genre garbage out there. However, the star, Rebecca Ferguson, is utterly unconvincing as a badass. She's too small, thin and petite for the role. Should have gone to Kate Beckinsdale, or Mila Jovovich (I guess they wanted someone younger), or Gal Gadot. Yeah, Gal Gadot, no matter how much they had to pay her!
These actors are literally standing for what Apple does specifically not want to do: Hollywood Zombie Action garbage, as you rightfully explored in your opening sentence.

Interesting perspective. I think the show is awesome, and can’t wait for the season to be completely available. Personally, I’m glad they haven’t used a typecast actor like the ones you mentioned. Interesting that you think she doesn’t have the right body shape for the role. I thought we had moved on from that.

I disagree with the ops opinions on this and really like her in this role.
However I disagree with your point as well are we supposed to believe anyone with anybody type can take on any role, just because it’s 2024? A 120kg playing up front in Ted Lasso? A little person beating Rocky in Rocky XXI?
I feel like you’re being harsh on the op on something that’s always going to be subjective.

You have made an argument on something that I never said. Also known as a strawman. I have also known some amazing 5’2” people who easily outmatched 6’2” men. Having a 5’6” actor playing the main role in Silo is definitely fine imo.

So down for this, first season locked me in from the very first minute of the very first episode. Was clueless.

Perfect way to start the weekend on this Friday 🚀

Personal opinion on the casting discussion going on:
I don’t think it’s unrealistic, she isn’t indeed beefy and muscled but she isn’t gratuitously kicking opponents double the size (serious spoilers, beware), for example, the hose moments mentioned, well, she suffered it big time and almost drowns. Also when met against stronger opponents like the Janitor’s Son and his thug (forgot their names) she almost got thrown over the stairs (scary moments weren’t they). And that’s normal, even the Sheriff’s right hand, the drawings police guy, also gets beaten by them. For a Sci-fi series, I’m finding it very very grounded, started it watching expecting nothing and was floored, personally.

Phew, needing a refresher on the characters’ names.

Not at all you’re complaining someone has an opinion on an actor having a role, saying I thought we were beyond this. What beyond opinions?

As I said I agree she’s fine in this. But the op gave reasons why he disagreed

I’m not arguing on something I never said. Enjoy. Silo is awesome.

I have seen a lot on these boards over the years – and now misogyny? Can't say I'm too surprised. Besides that, it's simple and easy: just don't comment on others' looks.
Why not? Valid comments in my opinion. The days of people policing others, by throwing out accusations of misogyny and racism on what to say, are over. Polite, reasoned discussion are the norm now.

You may be surprised to find that Rebecca Ferguson is a capable physically as the others and has definitely proven to be badass in some of her many film roles and has awards to prove it.

Do you mean like 3 x Mission Impossible's, Dune 1 & 2, Girl on a train etc…

It’s not about policing, it’s about calling out certain unacceptable behaviour. I guess people have different views on how we view women’s ability to do certain things. Like acting in a science fantasy. And you want offensive comments to be okay on a forum?

I don't hate her acting, in fact I like it. Just too small and skinny to play a strongwoman. That's all.
IMO this character is supposed to be scrappy. She doesn't let anything stop her. Her determination is her super power, and I think a small framed actress makes this point more powerfully than a "strong woman" would.

I do like this show but i do prefer to binge watch these days. I'd rather get through one show at a time than juggle between half a dozen and wait for each weeks episode to come out .

You also get a free offer for 3 months of Apple TV+ with purchase of a new Mac. (Maybe new iPhone too).

I love Silo and Rebecca Ferguson (mother of Muad'Dib) and will activate my 3-month free trial to binge-watch as soon as all episodes are available. :)

Have they turned the brightness up on it yet? The last season was edited on OLED panels in a dungeon containing nocturnal creatures.
Go watch Cross on Prime if you want 'dark', I don't know who the grader was on Cross but I think they threw out the scopes! Ridiculously dark look.

The interior scenes in the first part of S2E1 were so dark it was unwatchable. Terrible cinematography.

I recall reading there was a short recap video of Season 1. Not sure I really need it but would be a fun catch-up. Is it available online?

So is your comment considered an inclusive comment on the OPs comment? Two wrongs don’t make a right and you having an opinion on the OPs opinion is ok…as long as it’s your opinion it seems. Why can’t we all just appreciate and acknowledge that we are all allowed an opinion and that’s ok if they don’t agree with your opinion?
