So I can’t binge watch, 1 episode per week?

Almost every streaming service has moved away from full season dumps because it shortens the amount of public discussion and then people move quickly on to other things. One release per week is the norm now, and it makes the show better because you have a chance to think about what happened before jumping right into the next episode.

I’m guessing the gap between the first and second series may be down to Rebecca Fergunson’s availability with commitments to latest instalments of Mission Impossibke and Dune.

Oh that's a good point. My one complaint with new TV series / mini-series the past few years is that the gap between seasons is way too long, almost causing disinterest to creep in.

I still haven't seen the first season.

I LOVED the books!!

I wanted to re-read them before watching the series though.

Instead I got sidelined by reading everything else instead, including Molly Fyde, another Hugh Howey series. 🤦‍♂️

A giant silo containing 10.000 people, compromising at 144 levels and it only has 1 power generator? No backup generators? Lol. The people who designed the silo(s) are clearly very bright. Lmao.

Writers and producers designed the silo, for the sole purpose of drama and story. 🙄

I liked the show, and the twist on the typical post-apocalyptic genre garbage out there. However, the star, Rebecca Ferguson, is utterly unconvincing as a badass. She's too small, thin and petite for the role. Should have gone to Kate Beckinsdale, or Mila Jovovich (I guess they wanted someone younger), or Gal Gadot. Yeah, Gal Gadot, no matter how much they had to pay her!

Apparently you didn't watch her in the Mission Impossible movies.

I think her skill isn't supposed to be all action; the newest episode shows her skills from an engineering standpoint better than it has so far

You have made an argument on something that I never said. Also known as a strawman. I have also known some amazing 5’2” people who easily outmatched 6’2” men. Having a 5’6” actor playing the main role in Silo is definitely fine imo.
It’s not her height it’s her body. I never believed for a second she was working on engines. And at one point she grabs a giant wrench which must be a prop because no way.

I know what you mean, and I don't think you're a misogynist. Ideally, it should not strain credulity so much that it bumps us out of the movie. Still, I've seen much worse, so while we're suspending disbelief about a post-apocalyptic hellscape where there's no provision for repairing the generator even though everything else for survival was covered, I'm willing to find the generosity to extend that to the actor's physique, at least in this case.

Edit: I was trying to remember a much worse example. It was so long ago, but I found it! Bridget Fonda in Point of No Return (1993) is the worst casting decision I have ever seen for a "tough girl" role, where she faces off against much bigger men in a variety of situations, including a boxing ring. The trailer alone used to drive me batty - "What do you do when you're most uncomfortable?". Reply from the emaciated, young lady, "I hit". Nope. No you don't.
Have you seen the TV show Nakita? Find it or watch a clip and you will die laughing. The main character is maybe 80 pounds and borderline anorexic and she fights a guy that looks like 6 foot. 275 pounds in the first episode and I was laughing too hard to continue.

I don't mean she's not beautiful or ill-formed. I mean the stunts in the show required physical strength (like the firehose scene among others). And it's obvious that Ferguson is not strong. She's a beanpole.
1) This is a fiction. It is not supposed to be realistic in any way.
2) You would be very surprised by the strength of some thin people. I don't remember Bruce Lee to be very large or heavy (to take one example from the cinema world, but more examples could be found in the world of sports).

I love that aspect of this episode. You can almost see the wheels turning in her head.

I love that she’s not a Mary Sue. A rope fails. Her jury-rigged bridge falls apart as she walks across it. The danger seems real, and she does get hurt.

When she finally does succeed, her reaction is a surprised “huh“.

That rope thing was silly. Why did she not hang the rope from the side she was trying to cross? And just lower herself straight down?

I’m reading Molly Fyde to my kids at bedtime. They fall asleep almost immediately, but I keep reading to the end of the chapter.

Interesting. I actually like the show mainly because of Rebecca. I had only seen her in Mission Impossible movies before in a role that doesn’t need good acting. But she is SO good in this role and I have been very impressed with her acting. The badass nature of this character is not about the physicality, it’s about mental and personality toughness. She conveys that so well.

Same here. I appreciate this show is showing a badass female character who is not action oriented. We established that in Season 1 and they put it to great use here. Sometimes being a bad ass is more mental then physical, and it's something I really loved about this episode.

They are all 5'7"± and the same weight profile. I'd actually bet Ferguson is the more solid of three. And, IMO, easily a better actor in any drmatic way.

I don't love it like I did Wool but overall it seems to be a very cool story. Im into the second book now.

Gal Gadot is a model with sticks for arms and legs. It was movie magic that turned her into WW

I take it you didn't see Rebecca Ferguson in mission impossible rogue nation

Did you think the first season of Silo was so great? I have to be honest and say that it was mostly boring. Only the question of whether the surface was a wasteland or an oasis was interesting to find out, but the story that happened in Silo was rather unspectacular and boring.

I think it’s hilarious that people think she isn’t “equipped” to do the role in real life.

They might be amazed to know that in movies and on tv, they have these extraordinary people called a stuntman or woman.

Guess what people living in a fairy tale, the actors often don’t do all the hard work! Sorry to spoil it for you.

Im still flabbergasted that Thing wasn’t really an autonomous hand in the Addams Family.

I like your Rocky reference. And I think Stallone is miscast as a heavyweight boxer, too. He's just too small. And the fight scenes in all the series, including Rocky XXI, where he actually fights his dead wife Adrien (and loses, Yo!) look more like dances than fights.
Where did it say Rocky was a heavyweight? And why would the story even require that Rocky's weight class be any different than Stallone's weight?
