Proof Apple marketing is good at what it does. Marketing budget in the hundreds of millions and they got their customers believing their products are so great marketing doesn't matter

I hope they get Christmas bonuses

Never said marketing doesn't matter. But, to you, marketing is the ONLY thing that Apple does well.
Guess you'll never understand then. Time to write you off.

Nope, I said marketing was now Apple's best asset and better than their vision in the tech sector

You've got excellent reading comprehension

It's hard to find decent review sites. There's just too much blatant bias these days. Sure every review has some bias, but at least separate the bias from the facts. That way the reader can make a decision on fact and the reviewers opinion. The Verge is probably one of the biggest offenders of Apple bias. So much so that people like Eric Griffen has referred to them as iVerge. But I think this article from a tech journalist really says it all. A very revealing article of the tech media and their relationship with Apple. I've always wondered why reviews of the iPhone have always had negatives/cons of the device so sugar coated or just not mentioned.

https://medium.com/@krautreporter/the-apple-media-distortion-field-644e9e7b8666

TUAW seems to be pretty ruthless in their reviews, still, although they only focus on apple stuff. My impression is that most reviewers are doing first looks/ box opening type reviews these days, and just explaining what the phone is rather than really digging into it. Im guessing its because they are getting kick backs from the manufacturers

Strawman is when you take someone else's argument and misinterpret it so you can knock it down

I don't see how I can strawman and knock down my own opinion

Your original argument is:

"Apple only sells its products due to marketing".

You're right, this is more like burden of proof fallacy or maybe a red herring. And clearly you can't prove this statement so I'm countering by saying your opinion as I see it is incorrect.

My argument:

"Apple only sells its products due to the quality, support and corporate mores. It's marketing and advertising reflect this."

Never said that. You and your buddy who doesn't wanna talk anymore made that up and attributed it to me so you could knock it down, which is why it's a strawman.

Find me a quote on this thread where I said Apple only sells because of marketing

This is the first time you've posted any argument like that in this thread.

Most of your posts prior to this have been equating marketing with mass hypnotism and witchcraft, which is another strawman.

You didn't say it outright, but hinted at it with the mediocre device, great marketing line. Plus, with your reply to me about the marketing working, if I though that the iPhone was a solid device.

This whole discussion is a farce. The premise is Apple controls the media to such an extent, they influence the reviews and the cult followers lap it up and hypnotized by Apple they just throw their money in a frenzied attempt to get an iPhone.

Was that said,? no. Was it implied? sure was.

My reply to you was because you don't acknowledge marketing has any effect, period.

And in general terms, if a mediocre device sells well, wouldn't you agree it had to have a great marketing push behind it?

That's your premise, not anyone else's

Nobody else is conflating marketing with hypnotism except you

I7Guy was the one that inferred mediocrity. He actually bolsters part of Liquorpuki position that great marketing can sell mediocre products.

Negative. He simply said that people on the internet seem to believe that BMW produces mediocre cars. Thank God that no one listen to the talking heads on the internet...well, except for you and Liquorpuki.

Apple produces excellent devices and then backs them up with excellent support. Just because you don't seem to think this, doesn't make it any less true.

In general terms, what is the mediocre devices you are referring to? Iphone is not mediocre, but I do agree apples marketing is top notch. Must be some android handsets being referred to? Or are you referring to other "devices"?

Conflating? Not conflating anything, this is the essence of the thread: how large companies control and manipulate the media thus keeping their customers disinformed such that the customers are unaware of the real reviews of the devices and just go out and buy them. Not conflating anything.

The quote speaks for itself. He said it. Its right there for everyone to read. You can rephrase what he he wrote all you want....he still wrote it for everyone to read.

Show me where i said otherwise. Now you are making things up!

He simply said that people on the internet seem to believe that BMW produces mediocre cars.

yes...then equated BMW to Apple. Glad you agree. He describes how BMW leads the luxury car market despite being mediocre. His words not mine.
then equated Apple and BMW as being the same......... His words not mine.

Why am I not surprised that you can't seem to pick up the meaning of people's posts, but simply take them at what is typed? And also completely out of context as well? You do it time and time again. It's almost like you are trying to elicit a specific response. There is a word for that.

I'm curious are you and I7guy friends, related, secret lovers or maybe the same person? I just noticed that most of your posts here in the Alternative Section follow one another. You two come to each others rescue when being confronted. :D:D

Your boy made a general observation on products perceived as mediocre selling anyway because of branding. I said that was good marketing. Somehow you twisted that into me saying your iPhone sucks.

In general terms, what is the mediocre devices you are referring to? Iphone is not mediocre, but I do agree apples marketing is top notch. Must be some android handsets being referred to? Or are you referring to other "devices"?

You say in general terms then ask for specific examples

Nobody here said Apple puts out mediocre products except you in your BMW comparison. Everyone else was talking about the power of marketing and Apple's blacklist/whitelist.

And you want a specific example of good marketing selling a mediocre product - Patron tequila.

It's crap tequila, you can get a better quality tequila like Milagros for cheaper. But marketing got a ton of rappers and EDM artists to namedrop Patron over the past decade so now when you go to Vegas everyone's forking out $16 per shot. There's the power of marketing for you.

I can't help it if you do not fully get there was a small amount of sarcasm in those posts; which not surprisingly was taken out of context.

I don't know much about tequila, patron seems to think they are a good tequila, so I don't know who is the tequila maven and I've never seen that brand advertised so to me their marketing is sub-par.

I certainly did not say marketing has zero effect, I did say apples marketing does not turn their customers into lifeless zombies.

As far as the tequila patron, maybe you are the only one who doesn't like it.

So you said this
[Apple produces excellent devices and then backs them up with excellent support. Just because you don't seem to think this doesn't make it any less true.

So show me where I said anything like that!
And you accuse me of mis reading people posts. I know you can't find anything like what you accused me of.
