I have an appointment tomorrow at BB based on my elite status and having purchased through BB which gives one Apple Care. I also have yet to cancel a later appointment made through Apple which I might utilize if the initial session goes sideways.
I leave Saturday for an international trip and would wish to not be retraining another new AW while in route even though one segment is 15.5 hours.

No update from anyone positive or negative before my BB appointment this morning?

My wife's apple watch 8(cellular) is having the same issue where as my Apple Watch ultra is working fine. I have tried uninstalling the noise app with no luck. I have also tried reinstalling it. I am currently testing hard reboot after I uninstalled the noise app. I have tested hard reboot with noise app uninstalled and the issue persist. When it malfunctions, and I make a call to the Apple Watch, I hear what sounds like tapping or rubbing on the microphone at the beginning of the call before the complete silence.

Questions:
  • Does everyone with this issue have the wifi version or all cellular versions?
  • Has anyone who replaced their watch solved this issue as a result of replacing the Apple Watch? @Rasto19 ?
  • @francescoposa Did the hard restart work for you after a few days?
  • Has anyone had luck with beta software?

I've been fooling around with my ultra since I got it at 10 AM today, I really didn't want to make watch repair my hobby, I just wanted a watch that works, really sucks and there is no help online, they have no clue, tried everything, resets, updates, unpairing twice. The press to record does nothing most of the time then if does all it is is snap, crackles and pops....I'm returning mine, bummer, gave away my perfectly fine 4 to a friend. Maybe I'll get another next year if they fix the problems. Almost $900 for this crap?

my wife seemed to have found something if anyone want to try. if you uninstalled the noise app and hard restart, then it will stop working after a while. once it stops working don't restart it. After a few hours it would start working continuously without issue. Not sure if this is will work for others, and it is especially frustrating since the return period is only 14 days. Even though it is "working" for her right now, I might still return it just in case it is hardware related.

I have had this software bug on my S8/GPS but I seemed to have 'fixed' it (has been working without errors for 2 days). I am frequently using Siri/JPTR/dictation/calls which would at some point just stop working. I also think I know why some people report that they do not have any problem whatsoever. I have not encountered any problems since I have done the following:

1. Deleted the noise app. Maybe this is not necessary.
2. On the iPhone, change the Siri settings in the Watch App. Make sure to disable the very first option "Hey Siri" (something like listen for 'Hey Siri', I suppose that's the English phrase). I think that this option is off by default (i.e. when you set up the watch as new, without transferring any settings). When I set up the watch I had immediately turned on this option, encountering problems. This might also explain why others do not report problems because they didn't change it in the first place. I am fairly certain that this Siri setting causes the problems.
3. The raise to speak function, as well as the Digital Crown things are on for me.

Please let me know if this helps or works for anybody else. It's at least a temporary fix.

I see one more recent report of JustPressRecord having issues. This is the audio memo app that I depend on every day.
Is there anything else specific to those of us who find JPR works a few times, but not most of the time?
My iW8C/SS graphite 45 mm has an AT&T account.
I placed a call on my iW this morning and it worked as expected so is 16.0.2 a particular problem for JPR? Upthread various other apps have been mentioned.
Prior to getting the iP14Pro and iW8, I had 16 on my iP13Pro and 9 on my iW7, but do not remember any issues with JPR.

Sounds like an issue with JustPressRecord. The app had an update one week ago which may have caused the issue, perhaps they will release a new update to deal with this. If you haven’t you should report it to their support staff.

Might be a problem with justpressrecord indeed. After I wrote that I haven’t encountered any problems since two days I double checked with the JPR app only to realise that the problem persists and presumably can be reproduced that way. I also noticed a pop at the beginning of every recording (someone else notices that?). Taking off the watch and putting it on again (someone recommended that somewhere), the mic worked again. I will deinstall JPR to see whether I can still reproduce the bug.

Make sure to report the issue to their support. There should be a way to do that within the app. It’s probably an issue with their latest update and the recent iOS, watchOS updates.

Very odd, mine quit working again, just a little pop for the recording and Siri didn't work. I used the watch to call my wife on wifi as a test and it worked fine so I tried voice memo and Siri and they both started working again.I tried voice memo again and it quit working but Siri worked🤪. I don't want to have call my wife every time I use memo or Siri. The text speech works okay too but I have to press the keyboard icon in text to turn off the mic, cannot just press send. Okay, just tried it again, voice memo not working again, just crackled, pressed crown and used Siri, it was fine, went back and used voice memo and it worked. Seems to be if I press the crown and use Siri first then use memo it's okay. They better come up with a fix in 14 days or less because I'm going to return it if not.

I am interacting with JPR support but no solution forthcoming for the moment.

Tonight I went to the Apple Store and they replaced the Apple Watch ultra now I'm trying it I'll let you know if there's a problem with this Apple Watch or not I'll update you

Even the second Apple Watch ultra that I replaced at the Apple Store has the same problem after a while Siri dictation and voice messages go into block so it is ascertained that it is a software problem we wait for the update

I am in Seoul and was going to report an email from JPR saying it was up to Apple to solve.
I am downloading the updates and will see what happens now, but well done on the catch!

Three for three so far using JPR. Good audio and transcription.
Tomorrow I will be in a more complex situation so that will be a better test.
