I wear a suit to work everyday and am trying to find the perfect band. Originally I wanted the black leather loop, but in someways it looks even sportier than the black rubber band. (I'm getting the stainless steel Apple watch btw). For anyone else who wears a suit often, what band are you planning on getting?

Btw: don't forget about when you wear brown shoes/brown belt combos.

I think the link and Milanese loop would look good with a suit. For me., I'm getting the SS with classic buckle for everyday and will wear my omega with a suit.

Long overdue edit: I ended up sending the Milanese loop back and got the Black Sport band instead.

Of the two. Which do you think looks less formal. Do you think the sport band could work with a suit? The Apple Watch Edition has a black rubber band option and so do many Hublot Watches. The only thing is so many people are getting the Apple Watch Sport (silver) and then buying the black sport band. I don't want my watch to look cheaper because of that.

Hopefully a third party comes out with, if not already in the works?, with nice black and brown leather straps to go with suits

To go a step further hopefully some nice roman numeral dial watch faces for the occasion. I'd hate to show up somewhere fancy with a watch giving me time in digits.

I'm in a suit about 35% of my work days, mainly when in meetings. I'll typically wear one of my stainless or titanium AP's.

There's no way I'd wear an Apple Watch, that's not a criticism just my personal preference. It's a bit too gimmicky even though Apple has made it seem like it's the best creation ever.

I bet that once the honeymoon is over the halo around this product may vanish, never to be seen again. Yet the hard core gadget lovers will buy from Apple simply because it's available.

We all have different priorities and that keeps things interesting.

So change the watch face so it isn't showing digits.

Get the plain leather band. Looks the most formal unless you want to spend heaps on the all medal band.

So will the black rubber strap look ok?

I'm in a similar situation except 50% of the time I'm a step down from a suit to a blazer.

I think the black rubber will look okay, the classic leather buckle is okay too but both give you the problem of not matching with brown shoes / belt. I guess it depends on how style concious you are in that regard.

I think I'm probably going to end up with the link bracelet although it's not quite as "dressy" as the leather.

Milanese is probably a decent option too but I don't like how it's asymmetrical. It doesn't look great in hands-on videos.

Apple Watch bands + Suit and Tie

This is why I like the leather loop band. It's casual to wear with jeans but also can pass with business casual, which is what I wear to work everyday. However, with a suit I am not so sure. I would go with classic leather buckle, Milanese or SS links. The sport bands or sports edition aren't dressy enough in my opinion.

When I wear a suit for an occasion, I will wear my Omega.

I've been personally debating between a silver with white sports band or space grey with black sports band. I think either would be passable with a suit, but I'm considering getting a Milanese loop or waiting for a birthday and asking for one.

When asked about your strap while wearing a suit be sure and say it's a fluoroelastomer strap and not a rubber band.:D

If the price isn't an issue, the link bracelet would probably look the best with a suit, as it appears to be the most formal-looking band.

That was my initial thought but I did some reading on watch forums / fashion sites and apparently leather is considered the most formal. Who knew!

Oh yes I agree 100% there.

We are seeing gents in suits and models flaunting their new product, and yes, it does the job now. It's exclusive, you will feel unique right now.

You wait till there are tens of millions of them about, most of the kids have them.
then see how many "High Rollers" are still flaunting their post exclusive device :)

Many of our execs (fortune 50 company) wear suits/tie every day to work and the fitbit seems to popular with them so... I don't think the rubber band will be out of place.

Bingo. I can see perhaps not wearing a rubber/fluoroelastomer band to a formal dinner party, but for work, even with a suit, I think any band will pass.

I wear a silver Pebble Steel with the link bracelet presently, but I'm leaning towards either the fluoroelastomer or a leather band for the Apple Watch, with the link bracelet as a future purchase.

Funny thread.
In my business of software, and also with my oil and gas clients, you'll often see very wealthy people dressed nicely (suits or whatever) with a $30-$50 running/fitness watch (e.g., Timex Ironman, etc.) that looks a lot less formal than any Apple Watch combo. I find it amusing that this is even a consideration or issue for some.

It's an issue for many Apple customers since the brand has long been the center of attention amongst the vain. Both impulse and vanity are two words to describe the sensitivity of a large number. Just another reason being perceived as cool and hip are very important to them.

Given the simplicity of changing the bands I would say get the stainless steel bracelet and the leather.

I've read similar things. Tom Ford himself has said he prefers leather over metal for formal wear. Maybe I will wait and bye third party black and brown leather bands. My problem is that I want to preorder on the night of April 9th so I'll get my watch on the 24th, but I really think I should try them on in store first...
