Really did not like Marquez’s video. He just is one of those jaded tech bloggers that are very uncreative when there is nothing groundbreaking to report. Saw some hate for Justine here, yeah she is positive but she also actually did stuff like stand up paddle and snorkeling asides a hike with the ultra… don’t get why people hate on her for being in joy. Really enjoyed one of the linked reviews here aswel where they actually created a wildly noisy environment and tested the speaker in different environments.

Watched a rather long German review by a guy in Switzerland. He dI’d bring up some interesting points about how the design is now a lot more square and that seems less elegant to him. He also pointed out that he has no smaller model but he thinks the smaller model might not fit the old bands as good with the new size. Kinda a bummer that these reviewers pass testing that out by after all the talk on „no band will work anymore“.

Also it’s so weird people gather here to complain about a lack of upgrades. There is a reason many people come from a six or a four. You don’t buy a watch every year and there is limited things you can do on your wrist. It’s fine. Just because you don’t get to spend 1.5k on a new Hermes each year dos not make it bad.

Too bad since the Series 10 is quite superior to the Ultra in several ways that matter to people who aren't rugged outdoorsmen.

The Ultra

1) Has a unique, more robust look that many will like, and can go well in certain situations
2) Has some of the best battery life of any Apple product

These two factors alone make it a great product. However, it doesn’t go well with all outfits. Pairing a regular Apple Watch with an Apple Watch Ultra makes a ton of sense, especially as these watches can last five or more years.

There's incremental and there's... this. The upgrades after 3-4 years are definitely worth it, but the caveat is that the upgrades are all present in the 9, for the most part. I don't think sleep apnea is restricted to the 10.
Dude, compared to the Series 9, the thing has a thinner and lighter case (huge for a wearable) without compromising performance or battery life, and has fast charging, and improved GPS, and wide angle OLED (huge for a watch), a depth gauge, a water temperature sensor, and a larger display.

LMAO. How much more do you want in a year over year update?

I charge my watch every night when I go to bed. How long the ultra lasts doesn't matter to me. Or anyone else who does the exact same thing.,

If I buy a 10 or Ultra here in Japan, will it have the blood oxygen sensor be usable? Or because I have a US apple id, it won't even though I'm physically here?
So it should be usable. It’s not tied to an Apple ID but is coded at the firmware level for the US Watch part number.

That’s how those with a Series 9/Ultra 2 or earlier model in the US who bought before January of this year still have access to the blood oxygen sensor.

Now I say should only because the Series 10 is the first watch to be sold entirely after the ban. It’s very likely that it’s going to be done the same way through firmware but won’t know for sure until the watch is out.

*Additional warning about buying abroad: If you plan on getting a cellular capable watch and want to use it in the US, it needs to be a North American model from Canada/Mexico. The European/Asian models lack the correct LTE bands which will lead to a degraded experience.

Why do the bezels look larger on the Series 10 compared to the Series 7, 8 and 9? At least on the marketing images...?

The glass surface extends further down to the sides, where it used to be a metal frame, thus creating an optical illusion of some sort.

I think I can skip the 16 PM and run another year on my 14 PM. Even more so since I’ve been using iOS 18 for a couple of months and it runs fine. May need to replace the battery soon.

However this watch has my attention. I currently am on a series 7 and I have zero issues with it, but I just like the slimmer profile and jet black. I’ll probably trade this watch in, plus a rarely used iPad and get it for cheap.

The best value here seems to be the aluminum jet black, gps, hopefully on sale. The new titanium colors all look a bit muted to me (with the possible exception of natural, which almost looks like a pale champagne and is very unique). I will be swapping out my green Series 7 for the new Jet Black…

Still love my green S7. Not quite tempted to upgrade yet. I think next year is gonna be the big one. But yeah totally agree either just get the basic one or the ultra. And not the ultra until next year either.

Sorry did I miss the "mind blowing" feature? What was it?

When Apple releases some sort of API to design your own watch faces I'll come back from the Garmin Venu 3. The Garmin does a lot of things better than Apple, particularly sleep tracking, and you can design your own watch faces.

I got tired of looking at the same old watch faces on the Apple watch.

I am curious about this. If it was its own sensor and was excluded from the 10 would Apple have to disclose that? Would some not buy the 10 if they knew they could never get the blood oxygen feature?
Apple wouldn’t likely disclose if it was separate sensor left out (see the new iPad Pro quietly dropping the wide angle camera).

For all practical purposes though, people should act like the feature has been dropped. At this point it doesn’t seem Apple is set on resolving the lawsuit and is content on riding out the clock.

We probably won’t see the blood oxygen sensor make a return until 2028 when the patent expires. By that time Series 9/10 (and likely 11) will be close to dropping support for new OS’s (which Apple has been doing after 4/5 years) as they both use the same processor.
