Space Gray 38mm sitting atop its new custom charging stand

That looks great! Did you make that? Would you mind posting a pick of the underside of it and maybe without the charger in it? I've been trying to make one in a similar fashion and could certainly use a visual example on how to implement that in a presentable way.

Very well done. I'd buy that for a reasonable price.

Thanks! It's not something we normally make, but as there's interest we'll work on adding a page to our website where folks can order them. I'm considering adding some other designs for the artwork as well as possibly offering personalized messages since many watches are given as gifts. What do you think?

Yes, I designed and made a prototype yesterday, then this final version this afternoon. Our business focus has been on wholesale custom products for museum stores & National Park gift shops, actually.

This stand is a laminated stack of four 1/8" thick pieces, each with a slightly different cutout so that when stacked you can easily drop the USB cord through from the top and then it fits in a thin slot that runs to the end of the stand. The hole in the top is sized to hold the charger snugly. The lower 2 pieces have a smaller hole centered below that top hole, just big enough to fit the USB plug or a finger so you can push the charger back out easily.

If you were cutting from a single block of wood, you could use a router to make the cord channels & use a couple Forstner bits to make the holes for the charger.

Sweet! Where did you order from? I'd love to buy one without the writing on top of the base plate.

I'm guessing the Spigen stands sold on ebay were a run of "seconds" with the incorrect printing. Those sold on Amazon seem to be great!

This is something I built until my Spigen stand arrives. I like it so much I might keep it. My son has a bin with over 2000 legos so I am sure he wont miss these 50 or so pieces. The Mini figures are the perfect size to hold the chord. I also have some other lego hooks for chord management. I went with the Star Wars theme. I usually tuck the watch band underneath so it looks more uniform. I plan on re-doing it at some point and using some Crazy glue so it doesnt come apart.

This is my favorite I've seen so far! I'm going to have to go dig my LEGO out of storage now.

Just a quick update on Unify Dock for those who are interested. We've canceled our KS campaign but will be relaunching in the near future. We're working with our suppliers and manufacturers to reduce costs and come back at a lower price point. We're a team of engineers, so admittedly we're a bit weak on the marketing side of things and are taking steps to fix that.

Wanted to thank everyone who at least checked out the campaign as well as the backers from this forum, we really appreciate it! If you'd like updates you can signup on our website!

I bought one from spigen direct and got the ugly one (and I'm being asked to pay return postage to send it back!).

Are there any stands which also serve as a band/strap organizer? Now that additional bands are being delivered, many of us have multiple and I'm sure would like some easy way to keep everything together and organized. I'd love to see something that holds all the bands, but then has a watch charging stand on or in it. An Apple Watch equivalent of a jewelry box I guess. Does such a thing exist yet?

I'm worried about the metal-on-metal of the Duet and the Unify.

We've been discussing an (optional) silicone rubber pad that could be placed on the watch arm cradle for those who are concerned about this, but the current design (in tandem with the convex shape of the backside of Apple Watch) means that the metal casing of Apple Watch doesn't bump into the metal cradle. ;)

That's a pretty good idea. There is definitely money to be made from these watch stands in the early going since there aren't many out there.

I'm torn between the W2 ($10 shipping at least is not bad), the Lightning Dock's , and DouStand

I want to have a duel stand. Makes sense since you NEED your phone with your :apple: Watch.

W2 of course is the most expensive one of the list (which if I heard of it before the kickstarter ended, would have saved alot of $$$). The Lightning dock is cheaper however I haven't heard much review of it. And the DouStand is the cheapest duel stand I have seen but I'm not so sure about the design. I like the other two because the watch and phone are facing the same way.

Any other duel stand recommendations?

you don't NEED the phone next tot he watch when it's charging. heck... if it's in your home with wifi, the phone and watch just both need to be in your home and on your wifi... not even in the same room!

i think that a dual charger is good if you have both by your bed charging overnight.... but technically, you could charge one in one room and one in another and you'd be just fine!

A few? From where? How much?

I got it from here http://mitagg.com/. They are using something called Indiego which is a Kick Starter equivalent. They had this deal where if you buy different amounts you can get one free. Not sure if they still have it. I was going for the buy one get one free, but ended up not seeing that one at the time and getting the buy two get one free. Three?! Oh well. Anyway, yeah it's not officially out yet, but they have sent e-mails showing progress on the final product. They make just watch stands and other stuff, but that's not my concern. I'm going for the all in one. Sucks they don't have an iPad dock too since I just picked up an iPad Air 2.

True, I wasn't considering the distance. I only have two places to put a stand, in my room or in the living room. If I get a single stand I'm then down to the Griffin's dock, Nomad's, Navitech's, and Spigen's.

Nomad is very simple. Most expensive of the list. The design looks very cool. If there was a deal for a bundle with the stand and the portable charger I might get that.

Navitech is nice. The Gun Metal Gray has a nice touch. Would match the Stainless Steal better.

Griffin has a cool sleek look. Just like a pirch. Tall and standing high. Not a bad price. The only issue is, it will be harder to operate if you are charging it with something like the Milanese loop and can't flatten the watch all the way.

And the Spigen that everyone is talking about. Its cheap, the most attractive feature, but the biggest thing I don't like is the cable management. It comes out of the side when I would rather have it out on the back. And I read that there is some trademark printed in an annoying place in the front too that some do not like.

I'm very picky.

That's a pretty cool office style dock if I had a dim lit office at work.

Fluorescent light above my cube is my enemy

Yeah I have fluorescent lights as well. Maybe it's an IT thing, heh. I'm going to keep one by my bedside and then one on my desk with my iMac and rMBP. The third I'm going to sell to my friend.

Thanks for the info! Yeah, I've been trying to work something out with a piece of oak. Have the Forstner bit but figuring out a way to route the cable has been my speedbump. A router would definitely help.

I've used Indiegogo a few times. Still glad I backed the Premium One on Kickstarter. It will hold/charge my iPhone, iPad Air, and :apple:Watch.

Apple Watch Stands... pics and links inside

So Spigen finally shipped my preorder. Unfortunately it was through UPS Snail Innovations, it says I won't get it till the 22nd! Wish I would have gabbed one when Amazon had some available through Prime but I thought they'd deliver a little faster.

Cut a 3/4" hole, centered on the stand. Then use a Forstner bit to cut a hole from the top, centered as well, just deep enough for the charger.

From the bottom, use a 1/8" router bit for the cable channel. Stair step it in from the bottom. That is, run a channel about 1/8" into the bottom and 1/8" wide from one end to the center hold. Then drop the router bit to 1/4" deep, but only run that channel 2/3 the way from the center hole to the end of the stand. Then again a shorter channel 3/8" in from the bottom and even shorter in length. Finally router an inch or two on top for the cable to come out from the charger and drop into the channel beneath without bending the cable too much.

Thanks for the tips! Will give this a try when I get my hands on a router.

I ordered this one last night. Hoping to see some real pictures of it soon as it is supposed to be shipping within the next two weeks. Its the best looking duo dock IMO, though the one with the lamp is also pretty nice, but it was a bit large for my taste.
