I am not worried, my AW4 alloy has gone through this, on the weekly basis, sometimes multiple times.
I have fallen so many times grinding stuff, got hit with paintballs and airsoft bbs on the watch area (i do wear elbow/underarm protectors though)

Still no scratches on the casing, and i go hard.

Thanks for the note. I have also seen people polishing their AW Ti. Honestly I am not planning to buy a Ti watch to polish it so it looks like a SS watch. I’d rather take a SS in that case. Still very confused b/w those saying it is holding up much better than their SS and those saying the opposite. I guess it also varies a lot depending on the use case and attention. I am a very carful person but I could not avoid bumping my watch in some cases against a door frame etc… well I guess I’ll check that out when I’ll receive my ultra and will see whether it is a keep or a S8 swap. Again and coming back to my previous post what I fear most is that angular form factor around the screen… hit it lightly and you have a dent… But I maybe wrong.
I too bump my watch a lot and I do a lot of sport with mine. I had a S5 SS Silver and now a S7 Ti Natural. And so far the Ti is less prone to scratch. I think the matt finish have to do with it, on a mirror like surface of the SS Silver, it's very easy to see any imperfection. In both case you can fix it, SS with a cape cod and with the Ti with a pen eraser. So in the end, just select the one you like the most.

I have seen plenty of alloy watch with big scratch across the screen, to each their own, but I would not even consider that as an option. Glad it works for you.

I've always stuck with the SS for that reason. Though I'd hoped they might have stuck with the brushed finish as I could easily restore it as and when needed. I polish my steel SS7 all the time.
I love the stainless steel but hate that red ring… seriously, I won’t buy one with that dumb red ring. The orange ring on the Ultra looks good, though.

Not sure what you mean by series 8 titanium ss. This doesn’t exist.

The images from the keynote just have reflections no dinks whatsoever.
Maybe this dink or reflection?

Apple Titanium watches have always been DLC coated but I’m not sure if this one is
There is no dlc coating. It is made with titanium through and through. It will scratch but the color will remain somewhat the same as it is not a coating of titanium, it is solid titanium.

Same here as well, my SS after 3 months was full of micro scratch. 9 months in with the Natural Ti and I can't barely see any. I have no regret getting titanium and it's superb for sport as it's lite.

How's your battery health? Mine is already down to 90%.
I guess I'm doing better than others, battery health is 95% after one year of twice daily half-charges.

I doubt it would be a dink at the Apple event with the eyes of the world watching.
That said, a squared off design is inevitably going to bring these problems, that is why I was glad when all those rumors about the 7 were false last year.
You could always put a case on your Ultras to make them look even more MASSIVE. Like a cell phone from the 80s but on your wrist!

🤣
What rumors about the 7?

Yes titanium is bad I had it on my series 7 and after 1 week it scratches so I returned it and got stainless steel and after one year it’s perfect; this ultra watch is gonna be less durable than the stainless steel makes no sense, even apple staff say don’t go titanium as the demo units get mad scratches
I'm pretty anal and careful with my S7 SS but I definitely have scuff marks on the sides. I bought the Ultra and I'm even more worried.

So what’s the point of it; I have always had apple watches and many times hit it and knocked it and it’s never damaged so why go for an ugly style I thought the whole idea of it was for a bigger screen when it’s a step backwards from the series 7 the main thing is bezel and case, and most people wanting it don’t do sports they just want the better brightness and batt and speaker etc so the series 8 should of had all that
No. Series 8 is too small.

Ordered an Ultra since it was the same price as the stainless steel. My series 3 stainless steel looks as good as the day it was purchased many years ago, battery is very good, and I wear it every day. I’m hoping the ultra is as good an experience.

So as I suspected the Titanium case while strong, is extremely susceptible to marks and chipping. After just one weekend of ownership and with very light use, the chamfered edge on mine has already acquired a chip. I haven’t been out exploring, running, or doing anything labor-intensive. Just relaxing at home, a trip to a restaurant, and driving. The chip I think was acquired after the case came into contact with the dinner table. Absolutely on me. But if it chips this easily during such a short space of time with general day-to-day use, it’s going to look awful after 6 months of regular use. And the raised lip I’ve found is sharp and uncomfortable. I just can‘t understand why Apple decided to add chamfered edges to a product marketed on durability when they are so easy to damage.

All in all, I appreciate what Apple tried to do here to protect the display but I think their attempt at a functional design actually trades away some functionality. The smooth edge for comfortable swiping and navigation of the UI has given way to an exposed, sharp ridge.

This won’t be a concern for everyone but for me, it’s a deal breaker (along with the Digital Crown getting stuck on my wrist bone constantly and inadvertent pressing of the action button). Returning and going for a Series 8 in trusty stainless steel. I'll just deal with daily charging or use low power mode.

*Oh and the return is also due to discoloration on the antenna band as others have reported. Not acceptable at this price point.

How have u had it for a week?

So far mine is flawless. I am pretty aware of where my hands go.

My apologies. I misread. What have u. Been doing this weekend tho. I am just so surprised its already chipped.
No worries. And really just relaxing at home over the weekend and a trip to a restaurant. I think it knocked against the table in the restaurant (a wooden table) which is my own fault. I also do expect that to continue to happen as these things are going to take knocks against objects. But the chamfered edge in my opinion is a weak point. If it was smooth lip instead then I don’t think it would have damaged the case.
