Apple's MagSafe Battery Pack: Everything You Need to Know

Are there any other wireless battery packs on the market that will charge quicker than this?

And that’s how the cookie crumbles. Now we know why Apple gave up on AirPower - seems like they don’t have great expertise in wireless charging. Hopefully MagSafe is licensed more in 2022 and better products arrive. No other way to charge from such a large block?! Damn!

I have that mini blue device x2 and although it does charge slowly it is convenient in a pinch when I need it for my 12 mini which hasn’t been much.
 
So does the reverse charging feature only work when the iPhone is plugged in to AC power? If I'm out and about and simply want to transfer some charge from the battery in my iPhone to the battery pack because I feel like it, then this won't happen?

No, it won’t happen unless your phone is plugged in.

Nope. Apple Watch doesn’t use Qi, instead they use a proprietary wireless charging protocol so you must use Apple’s charger cable or some other licensed ones.

You can use it at any % on the iPhone.

I’ve had mine since Apple launched it. It’s okay, not that great. As an iPhone 12 Pro Max and now 13 Pro Max user, it’ll give you about 40 - 50% charge, maximum. And that’s provided you don’t use the iPhone while it’s charging.
 
Like any apple chargers they actually stop charging after hitting 100% So the battery doesn’t over heat and degrade after a while. With that said the you have to enable it to charge past 90% through the Control Center first.

You can‘t use the magsafe charger while using the iphone because it will discharge your battery no matter what the only way to use is to let it sit somewhere.

Yup, I discovered this while travelling home and using my iPhone with the MagSafe power bank attached. The % charge wasn’t increasing while the power bank was attached, yet the power bank was still draining.

I learned you have to leave your iPhone alone while it’s charging.

Wow, that makes it completely useless in most cases. Thanks for the heads-up. Another Apple-no buy.

To be fair, even my Anker wireless charging mats at home are similar to that, and they’re hooked up to electricity.

Only if you’ve got powerful wireless chargers hooked up to 20w or higher power adapters, will you see massive charging gains while actively using your iPhone.

I just think a portable charger should behave as such; just like how the wired portable chargers work. Otherwise what’s the point of getting a wireless portable charger over a wired one?

For me it’s just easier to deal with a wireless charger in my work bag than a wired one.
 
I just bought one new for 25% off. My 13 Pro Max has 87% max battery right now and I’ve been getting 6-7 1/2 hours of 90% charge before the battery pack is depleted. I really like that and it’s pretty much a whole shift. For my use case, I have a 10,000 maH battery pack that I use to recharge the MagSafe battery pack rather than my iPhone. Money well spent.
