I am one of those ppl that needs a stong GPU, so the fact i missed the boat in August with the Rev1 MP gives me a reason to wait on a GPU update.

A lot of 3d ppl buy high-end gamer cards. You generally get 80% the performance of a quadro for 1/3 the price. Meaning i could buy an 1900xt (80% as good) and a 8800 (120% better) down the line and have more performance then if i got the quadro up front.. for less cash. Plus the odd 3d app is actually slower with the quadro line (but i think thats been fixed recently in the app i'm thinking of)

I also don't recall Apple ever updating the GPU options without totally updating the system lineup. Modo had kernal panics with the 1900, mudbox (via bootcamp) was slower with a Quadro, Zbrush2 dosent care about your GPU, Lightwave you saw very little performace gain until very recently.

My motivation to buy a Mac Pro is now finally over, I'll just build myself a good PC and stick with Ubuntu for now. So long, Apple.

Wise move. If you can get by with "a good PC" and "Ubuntu", then a Mac Pro is far too much machine for you.

But ya, point taken, I don't know to many video designers who use Ubuntu as there many OS. I think the OP would be fine with a nice iMac.

At no point in your senseless thread did you even come close to what could be considered a rational thought. I award you no points and my god have mercy on your soul.

.......Apple not main stream! LOL!
