This update looks just fantastic and navigation is far better. It's also a whole lot easier to see what's new.

I'm still having some troubles using this with my 1.0.2 firmware though, or maybe it's just the coding. The app won't let me exit out by hitting the home button. I'm actually having to turn the phone off--which really stinks. Hopefully this is just for me, but exercise caution.

Manualy Installing AppTapp

I just jailbroke my phone to 1.1.1 with iNdependence can someone please give me instructions on how to manually install AppTapp?

Using Windows PC

Guys, sorry newbie here. I have modded 1.0.2 and upgraded to AppTap 3.0b last night. I also ready the "recommended firmware 1.1.1" but was obviously reluctant to do so. I'm sorry if this seems apparent for some, but my questions are:

1) I'm using Windows PC. After I upgrade to 1.1.1, how exactly do I jailbreak it? I can't use iJailBreak as that requires a Mac?

2) Once I jailbreak it, how exactly do you MANUALLY install AppTapp? With 1.0.2 I downloaded it from their site to my local computer, plugged my iPhone in and let it do its thing. I don't believe there's a 1.1.1 version of AppTapp to do this now and I have no idea how to do it MANUALLY.

3) Is there an iNdependence for Windows?

Thanks in advance!

just updated app tapp but I did not notice it said "1.1.1 recommended" :eek:and I have 1.0.2!!! I have no intention of upgrading to 1.1.1 at this point. I am happy with the iphone 1.0.2. But now I am worried is there any problems using app tapp 3b with iphone 1.0.2?:confused::eek: Next time I will check before updating.

Shouldn't be any issues. I've been running it with 1.0.2 and playing around with it all night and haven't experienced any showstopping issues. Working on 1.1.1 jailbreak now!

Good luck! I might try it when there is a simple step by step set of instructions. Every thing seems hard to follow for a "noob" rght now:)

Don't think there will ever be "simple" step-by-step instuctions for manual jailbreak, albeit "simple" is relative and subjective. Use a one-touch jailbreak if you run on a Mac (iJailBreak). I use Windows so I have do a manual jailbreak....http://www.touchdev.net/wiki/Windows_jailbreak :(

Or just wait til Feb when SDK is released. Next release of firmware should support 3rd party apps

Man, no love for Windows users it seems. I think i'l hold off until i can jailbreak it the way you can using a mac.

I really don't want to upgrade to 1.1.1 firmware, however I did the upgrade for the apptapp installer version 3, not knowing that the 1.1.1 is recomended. Does anyone know, if I continue to use apptapp with 1.0.2 will it cause problems on the iphone, for instance it won't be compatible? I'm afraid it will go bonkers and start freezing on me. Also, when I'm on a safari page, it tends to just close and go to the main menu while I'm surfing from time to time. Does anyone have this problem? I'm afraid the hacks are starting to mess with my phone now.

I'm using the new apptap on 1.0.2 without any problems. When safari goes to the home screen, that means that safari crashed. It'll happen every now and then, whether you have hacks or not. Mine seems to crash more when I have many web pages open at once, or I'm listening to the ipod and browsing safari at the same time.

I did notice that when you go to "Uninstall" the actual "Installer" application currently doesn't have an uninstall option like it did before. It has now been changed to "Re-install". So how would I remove it, if I wanted to without having to upgrade to 1.1.1. Just out of curiosity, in case my apps start crashing on me after this update. Hmmm.

My iphone updated to the latest installer but I am still running 1.0.2 version. How can now update my iphone application to version 1.1.1 and still keep what I have in it.
Thanks,

I used the iNdependence method of updating my phone to 1.1.1 after noticing that the new installer said it worked best on 1.1.1. When I did the update it got rid of installer and all 3rd party apps. I then bombed my phone trying to install app tapp manually. I got the continuous reboot. So I had to completely reinstall the OS. Luckily I had the 1.0.2 installer still in my computer. I'm still running 1.0.2 with installer 3.0b and loving all my apps.

One thing I have to say I thought I'd have to do a sim unlock again once I restored the phone to 1.0.2. I didn't I'm very impressed with iphonesimfree.
