Sorry to hijack. When you have your boot system running off the Apricorn Velocity Solo x2, does the Mac Pro runs warmer comparing to having the System running off the regular Sata bay?

Thanks

My set-up

Slot#1: GTX-670
Slot#2: DUO x2 with 2 840 EVO SSD's
Slot#3: ATI 2600 HD
Slot#4: CallDigit FAST-PRO

No (over)heat problems at all.

Cheers

mine is,
Slot 1 GTX680
Slot 2 Apricon with Samsung Pro 512 (Mavericks)
Slot 3 Empty
Slot 4 Inateck USB3

I guess this is ok?

I also Have a Samsung Pro 256 under the optical bay with Yosimite which doesn't look too good on my old 23" apple aluminum display, but that's an off topic and another story :)

Anyone having a problem getting their rebate? The company that handles the rebates insists the Duo is covered in the rebate.

Ok, turns out my card was faulty.
Expansys took it back and credited my card with the monies. I have now ordered two of these from OWC. I’ll let you know how it goes.
Ok, an update.
The cards have arrived and I have installed OSX on each, (I’ll install Windows later when I have more time - ie when Win10 is released). The card does not support BootCamp.

My speeds are now where they should be;

Congrats on your purchase, but I have a question.

Why did you choose this card and setup?

I personally choose the pcie m.2 sm951 setup for 1500mb read/write; however, at the time of choosing I didn't have any regular ssd's like those.

If I had at least two of those SSD drives already I would have bought two more and ran 4 of them in a raid 0 setup with this enclosure since I can use it with my iMac, and MacBook pros if I decided to sell my Mac Pro.

I’ve ummed and aahed about this a lot. Basically if the ***t hits the fan with the Mac I want to be able to take the drive out and slot it straight in to a USB3 caddy or pop it inside one of the Mac Mins or MacBooks I have access to and get straight on with things.
I don’t think I can do it with those. There is something I don’t like about a RAID and I don’t know what it is. I do have two spare HD so at some time I might make a RAID scratch disk and see how it performs. I probably just need more education about them.
