I think the AirPods just work well. Sound quality and call quality is decent. They connect easily to devices and charging case is top notch. I think the absolute best thing about the AirPods is that they are the only Bluetooth audio that doesn’t show audio lag when watching YouTube. The sync is spot on with these.

A few things that I don’t like are the whole look of them, lack of any sound isolation and lack of good controls on the earbuds.

I actually use Jabras when out and about listening to music and Podcasts and use the AirPods when watching video.

I concur with them not fitting the same.

They are ever so slightly bigger than the EarPods - the fit for me, it a lot better.

I love mine, seamless and quick connectivity, amazing battery life, great sound quality.

I’d always recommend them to any iPhone user looking for a decent pair of wireless earphones.

I bought a pair when they first came out. My wife normally gets every Apple product that I get, but she didn't want AirPods. Her reasons: Way too expensive. Looks weird. Already have wireless earbuds (with the wire in between). Feels like they are going to fall out. Don't see what the appeal is.

Three months ago she finally caved. And now she loves them and feels they were worth every penny. She uses them many hours every day. So do I. I do all my phone calls at my office with them, free to use my hands or get up and walk around the office. I listen to music. I watch movies. I take family calls with them and it leaves me free to move around and do stuff while my dad talks my ear off for far too long.

It's hard to explain why they are worth $150 until you've experienced them, but they provide convenience, freedom, comfort, and rock-solid call quality that no other earbuds I've tried can match. It's a brilliant product from Apple, and in true Apple fashion it's a product that doesn't really seem to make sense until you've experienced them yourself.

Strongly consider BeatsX before buying AirPods.

Benefits
-More comfortable; I'm probably in the minority, but I find the AirPods to be a bit painful to wear for extended periods
-Ear seal / better sound quality
-They stay on you when not in use—just pull them out of your ears if you need to take a break; no fiddling with cases
-Comes with the same iCloud / quick-switching capability as AirPods
-Cheaper

Drawbacks
-Pressing the lousy on/off button properly can be tricky; doesn't have the instant-on feature of AirPods
-Can rub against your jacket collar; it's not totally wireless

The fit is not the same. I never liked the EarPods because they kept falling off but the AirPods have never fallen off my ears and I wear them everyday on the commute to work and back and also at the gym doing all sorts of cardio plus weight lifting exercises.

Not universally true. Depends on the size and shape of your rear canals. I bought a pair, loved everything about them, bu I literally could not keep them in my left ear. The right was okay. I returned them. If they announce they’ve done something about that, I’ll try again.

Add me to the ‘Won’t stay in my ear’ crowd. I tried other brands as well and none of them that I have tried has worked.

Guys, is it reasonable to buy AirPods nowadays? There is a rumour that the upgraded AirPods amy come in first quarter of 2019, and it will include Bluetooth 5.0 support, water resistance, noise cancellation...etc. They seem as very cool new features, but is it really worth to wait them? What do you think??

Any idea if the airport 2 version would be upgraded to add volume changes easier? Ie sliding up or down earphone to adjust volume
Doubtful. If you're referring to sliding up and down the stem, the stems of the AirPods are basically all battery, so such a feature would come at the expense of already tiny batteries.

I definitely would wait. New ones should be out soon. And if they are not all you hope for, the current ones should be discounted.

I have a few health problems and I find most ear buds hurt my ears after a while.
Be sure that is not a problem for you.

I heard a rumour somewhere that some Apple ear phones are in the pipeline with the same features.
I am waiting for that.

Give me all the reasons I need to own them (or not).
If you have apple products the AirPods we super connected. I can start music on my phone. Then Play music on watch and the AirPods pick them up. Then on my Mac I can easily switch the Audio from watch to Mac. It’s pretty seamless. As someone who has paired bluetooth before it’s great. And for working out and running they’re awesome. No wires!!! I rave about them before I think it’s my favorite apple product in 5 years.

Okay so reading through another thread about them falling out, and it’s making me wonder - is the fit just like the regular earbuds? I don’t find those the most comfortable to wear, so I’m curious if these are just like that.

No one I know well enough to let me try them has any. ;-p
Just return he if you don’t like them.

While I was dead set on spending all that money on them, after trying them in the Apple store I decided to give them a go.

I’m so glad I did as I use them all the time, at the gym, on walks to the shop, around the house etc. I couldn’t not have them at all.

Th only things I don’t like are they are hard to clean and the connecting with my iPhone when I open the case can take a little while rather than being instant. Other than that they are fantastic

Honestly, not really. There are plenty of better ‘phones out there. I finally caved and bought a pair about 4 months ago. I wish I hadn’t and spent the money on something else. Battery life is one of my issues. Yes, the case can charge your AirPods all day, but the pods themselves last about an hour. If you listen to something longer than an hour at a time, good luck. Also, the sound is good, but not nearly as good as several others out there. The fit seems to work for most, but not me. Had to buy the “cheap” Insignia-branded accessory pack for the silicone pieces that will keep them in my ears. But the drawback to that is every time you need to charge them, you have to remove the silicone tips (they don’t fit inside the case)

Hopefully, there will be improvements for the next version.

What is everyone out there getting for battery life on their AirPods?

Like about 4hrs for me. If I’m doing phone calls it’s like 2hrs or a little less. I charge the case once a week. I use it for the gym or walking my dog. I used to use it more but left it in the car in the heat. I believe it’s battery life was affected due to extreme heat.

I seldom use mine because of problems staying in my ears, but I’ve used them while stationary and was able to play for 3 hours without a problem. I haven’t ever run out of a single charge but I haven’t used them much.

If you’ve bought the AirPods from apple directly then get them replaced. My AirPods last for 4 & half to 5 hours easy.

About 4 & half to 5 hours and only 15 mins charge in the case gives you easy 3 more hours. So my AirPods are almost always fully charged.

I don’t listen to music for straight 4/5 hours generally, because I end up taking breaks in between for some or the other reason and since the only way to conveniently put the pods away is to store them in the case, by the time I come back to them, they’re fully charged again. Battery life is the best thing about them.

People however find this shift from wired headsets to wireless to be not worth it probably because these .... First of all, you really don't need that tail coming out of the AirPods.

I do agree that the AirPods are pretty silly looking but I definitely like the convenience of them. I have 2 sets of the true wireless (AirPods and Jabra Elite Active 65t). I do enjoy having no wire getting caught up in my coat and pulling on the earbuds. They are just very convenient.

Long term satisfied Bose Qc25 & QC30 user here, evenly split between music and audiobook listening. Neither of those headsets are suited for listening in bed due to not being able to turn my head on the pillow without the bulk of the devices causing trouble.

Bought AirPods around three months ago to be able to comfortably listen to audiobooks in bed, the devices themselves sitting flush with the side of my head. They’re so comfortable and so convenient they’ve become my go to device for quite a bit of my listening. The noise cancellation is non-existant, and the sound quality in absolute terms is way below my two Bose headsets. But for convenience and comfort, they’re nigh on unbeatable.

The highest praise I can give them is that if I broke or lost my AirPods today, I’d be replacing them with another pair first thing in the morning.
