Are any of you beginning to hate Apple, for whatever reason?

I have personal baggage against the word "proud" and Tim Cook really loves it. It grates me every time. "happy", "grateful", etc are much preferred for me.

Tim also seem way way way too politically correct for my taste but I suppose that goes with the territory. And I'm utterly done with Johnny Ive and his speech pattern.

Aside from that... the quality seemed to be slipping from (say) 2010 to 2015 or so but recently my toys have been working well ... very few hangs, reboots, core dumps.

Part of me wants Apple to push out new toys faster. I'm still on a 2011 MBP and a 2009 MPB is my "home server". Both need replacing. But... now I want to wait and see what the new iMac does and, and, and, ...

Hate is such a strong word. I don't like everything a brand does and offers. Even my favorite sports team, I hate certain things they do like free agent signing, trades, or coaching hire. But hate them forever and ever? Nah. It is like a marriage. You just deal with the imperfections. Been there and done that with Apple. Ended up liking Apple again. Just like if I despise Samsung and Microsoft, I may come back to them too. I constantly bashed Apple and their sheepish fans online. Did the same for Samsung. Here I am using their products and enjoying it. Constant overlap of things needed. Thin line between love and hate. Just enjoy the actual product since fanboyism is a waste of time.

All I know is the owners of MacRumors is loving the hate.

The page views and ad revenue it's generating this past week alone must have made their year.
Coincidently many articles posted lately are not favourable to Apple, adding fuel to the fire.

I will never hate a company more than HP for what they did to Palm. So, while some of Apple's decisions have disappointed me, I don't exactly hate them

Agreed. Said that, I would like if Apple would stop dumbing down the Macs. And if Apple provided a decent iWork suite, adding new features, instead of removing features and redesigning its interface every year.

I eventually switched from iWork to LibreOffice for a couple reasons. One reason is that I wanted more functionality, including the ability to work with MS Office files without having to convert between Apple and MS formats. The other reason is because I prefer the way the tools are organized - on the top bar instead of a side bar.

The one thing I like about HP in that regard is that they don't make their own operating system. If you don't like HP's stuff, it's a lot easier to pick another vendor than it is with Apple.

Starting to hate them and even asking the sales team to avoid selling Apple products.

Reason: Quality. It seems that the one brand that I compared to quality is only there for one thing and that is the share price. And I am glad that the share price took a little tumble with the iPhone 8 release due to all the problems with the iPhone 8.

I have two older iMacs on my table at the moment waiting for repairs. I did a complete install on the one system, but Office 2016 takes about 1 minute to open, and this is a 2015 system. The other one keeps shutting down before I have time to open the about Mac pane. And this system has been with Apple just last week with the problem. They loaded Sierra on the system and said that the problem was fixed. Apon a Time Capsule restore the system crashed again. So that system has to go back again for repairs AGAIN!.

We sent a 2015 MBP in for display card problems. 2 months later, that same system is on my table again. Same problem. What is the solution from Apple... Send the unit back with about $50 of labour cost to do nothing. They unplugged the WiFi antenna and send the unit back to us. Seems the problem was the SSD this time that manifested as the display problem plaguing Apple for the past few years. No OS sent on the system, no question if there is a backup of the data nothing, nada....

In South Africa, we can't get most replacement parts for Apple products as well. Import is the only option. And waiting two months for a 512 GB SSD because Apple SA did not have a 512GB SSD available is a huge frustration.

So overall, quality lacks and Apple just does not take responsibility for the piss poor quality of products they push into the market

Are any of you beginning to really hate Apple, for whatever reason? I have my reasons, but what about you?

I'm sick and tired of how Apple keeps reorganizing my most used Apps. iTunes (desktop and iPhone app) was perfect before Tim Cook showed up. Some recent updates have made them easier to use, but I still don't like it. Like, why can't I give star ratings to songs on my phone? Some people still use that feature, like me.

And now they messed up the Podcasts App! Why did they take away the "mark as played" feature and why do I have to tap, like, 3 times to get something to play?! They're putting design over easy use, and they're making it feel as organized as Windows 95.

I'm starting to wonder if Tim Cook was the right choice to replace Steve Jobs because now we have phones that are too expensive and operating systems that are over-organized. Some days I actually think about switching to Android.

"Hate" is too strong. "Mad as can be" is not. Why? Inexplicably stupid product decisions.

1) No mouse support on iPad

2) No antiglare screens on laptops

3) Soldered memory, chips, etc

4) Continual boneheaded software "upgrades" (like the recent changes made to the podcast app with ios 11) that only make things less convenient and more difficult to enjoy

5) Continual boneheaded hardware "upgrades" (like deleting the audio jack) that leave dedicated long-term Apple owners up a creek without a bluetooth connection to their still-nearly-new vehicles

They still have a product that "just works", but it does so less and less satisfactorily every year. I'm beginning to wish I'd never switched over, and am seriously pondering reversing the process. Apple has pretty much achieved annoyance-equality with Microsoft, and I can be annoyed at Microsoft for a lot less money. Only inertia keeps me with Apple at this point.

Not hate, but the shine is off for me. Things don’t “just work” as much any more, and I want an upgradable Mini or non-Apple equivalent running Mac OS that I can afford in my retirement. They’re a profit-oriented company with nice, generally well-integrated products, great customer support and a super online store experience. So I keep scraping together dollars for their stuff. Since I'm about to drop a ton of cash buying my first Mac, I'd like to know exactly what it is you don't like about it. I'm not being defensive here or anything (you always gotta throw that little disclaimer out when talking on the internet), but with all the complaints I've been seeing, I'm wondering if I'm about to get something that won't work as well as it should.

They're great machines. We recently helped out one of our young adult kids with a new iMac replacement for her aged MBP. We were both working at home when it arrived a week after we ordered it online. Great online ordering experience, followed by the usual delightful unboxing. Then in 40 minutes we had it completely set up with her iCloud data, essential third party software and transfer of her data via AirPlay from the old MBP. She was back at serious work in an hour, her iPhone and iPad seamlessly syncing with the new iMac in the background. She was thrilled with the 27 inch screen after years on the MBP. She’ll be good for 5 years now.

Last year I replaced an aged out Mac with a 2014 Mac Mini and a 2016 13” MBP-TB (actually I broke the old Mac trying to install a new hard drive). Similar great experiences ordering and unboxing. Extremely productive with them and no problems. Just that they stopped unlocking with my Apple Watch but really, that’s definitely a luxury problem. And neither are upgradeable, but that's a future bridge to cross.

No I don’t hate them. I never really loved ’them’ either I’ve realized.
It was Steve I loved, his Apple I loved, his genius, brilliance and everything that it gave to me.
The inspiration, the honesty, the joy, the community, the products.....etc etc
I’m grateful for Steve, for those years, for his brilliance. Instead of hating Apple today.
But I dislike more and more of what I see of it today.

Apple is no inspiration anymore.
Oh, I still have tons of inspiration in my life. But what came from Apple is dead...not there.
I really don’t want to walk over to what used to be the dark side, but Apple gets darker too, unfortunately.
It’s all about the profits today. No genius left in Apple. No vision!
Just money thinking.
And it didn’t take long. It went super fast.

I can add to my reasons why I dislike the people running Apple now:

* Price hikes for every generation phone, computer, iPad, accessory

* Software bugs both mac OS and iOS that cripple hardware

* Making iTunes worse with each release (bloated, have to keep relearning where controls are etc.)

* Quality Control continues to decline

* No dedicated Mac OS team

* No updates to the Mac Mini

* Those keyboards on the 2016-2017 MBPs are very painful.

* Dongles

* The absolutely ridiculous hubris - all about image and $$$

* Very little innovation (the Apple Pencil is the coolest thing they've done in years. Hopefully the iMac Pro and eventual Modular Mac Pro will make a push toward innovation for their computers.)

I do still value the ease of use, better security and seamless ecosystem (when everything works.) If Windows wasn't so awful about data mining, meh customer service and bloatware, I'd feel more inclined to jump ship. Right now though, I am sticking with Apple despite having mixed feelings.

How can you hate an entire company ?

Hate as an emotion is quite useless anyway as it makes suffer only the person who experiences it , not the one it is directed to

Furthermore I learned that hating somebody just attributes an importance to that someone he or she surely does not deserve

Thus the concept of hate is completely self destructive and useless

As regards Apple , I appreciate their current offering and feel free to use their products as long as they serve my needs but will ditch them the very minute they do not

Yes! I hate the updates, and the nasty deception. I inadvertently thought I was agreeing to IOS update at some later date, thought I was in away mode, and entered my passcode. It tried to update, failed, and bricked my unbacked up iPad. No optin to back up before it tried to apply the update and bricked. That's disgusting.

OK, so make the best of it. I bought AppleCare. Well, Apple don't care. They want a serial number for after hours support. Bricked, I can't provided it from the screen No worries says the support automaton. It's printed on the back of the iPad. Maybe.Invisible ink? 1 oint type, or smaller in light gray on lighter gray? No chance in Hell I can read that. I have 20/20 vision.

I wish them the fleas of 1,000 camels.

Well said. Although it “just works” somewhat less now too. That was a key plus for me too when I switched.
