I have a 10.5, and 12.9 Verizon LTE iPads that I use for work ( I am a Speech-Language Pathologist. I make the payments monthly on my Verizon monthly bill. I owe around $300 on the 10.5, and around $500 on the 12.9. My bill is already so expensive I am thinking about sitting this year out rather than paying them off just to have an even more expensive bill. I would consider getting the WIFI versions but I have been spoiled with LTE. Both my 10.5 and 12.9 are already lightning fast and despite a lot of lust, I'm really not sure I can justify an upgrade despite the massive update.

Absolutely. I have too much invested in the 256GB 10.5 LTE and peripherals (pencil, ASK, cases/covers, HDMI adapter, SD card reader, chargers & cables) to consider a full reload with higher prices to boot.
I hear ya. I forgot to add I have ASK's on both of my LTE iPad's that I use for work along with the pencil. There's no way I'll get even close to what I paid by re-selling.
I have the 12.9 sitting in my bag in the online store. I think i'll go into the store and see it in person before pulling that trigger.
I sat out the last 36 months as I think yearly upgrades are a fool’s game. Getting my 12.9” on November 7th. Trading in my existing 12.9”. Sat out on this year’s phones, not because I can’t afford it, just don’t want a phablet.

But Apple’s RDF (Reality Distortion Field) is getting weak day by day that’s for sure.
There is no real “must buy” urge from seeing their products which have 1-2 places where they are severely crippled. Maybe I am getting burned out by all the insignificant updates with significant price increases.

Not a 10.5 or 12.9 owner but was thinking getting the 11. Then saw the price.
I’ll probably cave when I see one in person

Going to sit it out, I got a good deal on my 10.5 iPad last year from target.
Also this upgrade is just honestly a bigger screen with a faster processor and the addition of usbc, at the same time they took away headphone jacks...
I am going to wait until they release an OLED iPad, just not worth the investment to upgrade again this year.

I will not be buying anymore Pro iPads. My 10.5 will have to do me as long as possible then after that who knows.
Nope. Have a 2017 512gb 10.5 cellular IPad Pro, and getting the new 11 inch cellular 1tb next week.

I have 10.5 LTE and first gen 12.9 (though it was replaced one year in due to battery failure). I’m an iPad addict, and I can see things to enjoy in the new models but nothing radically must-have. And, I don’t yet trust Face ID, and So wouldn’t use it until I know more about it, and I use the headphone socket, and I have expensive glass screen protectors on both, and an Apple Pencil I use a lot which (not sure about this) I think won’t work with the new iPads. So, all these reasons are tempering my lust for the new shiny thing!
I usually keep my ipads a few years, although I did own all generations of the iPad mini and went from the air to the air 2. However I kept my air 2 for 2.5 years.
I’ll keep my 10.5 for at least another year.

I paid £1,038 for my 256 GB 10.5 with the ASK, Apple Pencil and Apple care. I’d probably only get about £300 if I sold it all now.
I am sitting it out this year. I am happy with my 256 12.9, besides I would need more than just the iPad I would need to replace the apple pencil and smart keyboard too.

Haha, sounds like you pushed the order button in a sort of trance. Great idea for getting around the thorny question of do I really need this?
Those waiting for OLEDs with 120hz iPad pros should be cautioned that even if it does ever happen, you’ll be looking at around 1199 for the base model with the top model nearing 2999. A lower level cellular model will likely be around 1600-1700 if that happens. This is the way things seem to be heading.

I bought a 10.5 about 2 months ago. Too late to return (not that I would anyway). I knew this was coming and did worry that I would regret the purchase. However, I love the 10.5. Do I like the bigger screen??? Yes, maybe a little but not enough. Face ID...not keen. USB-C.... actually that would help me. Although I have loads of lightning accessories, I find I am getting more USB-C things as well.
The 2 things I wish Apple would bring to the older iPads are
1. Folio smart keyboard (I don't like the ASK as it leaves the back exposed and is clunky to operate)
2. New Pencil. The original is great, but the charging method sucks (why was that ever considered a good experience) and tap would be useful.
Neither of those two features are worth the upgrade.
I agree ! Now the next iPad Pro will not be coming anytime soon. March Or June 2020 is what it looks like.
Definitely sitting it out. First gen new Apple designs are rarely good purchases because the next gen will fix any issues found in the first gen product.
For me as a 12.9" 2nd gen owner, the pros and cons of the new iPad Pro would be:
+ Size and weight.
+ New SoC. Don't need it at all but it's nice to have.
+ FaceID. I love it on my iPhone XS.
- Price. It's about 300 euros more than my 2nd gen with the same specs.
- My first gen Apple Pencil won't work with it. New one is a lot more expensive.
- I can't use the same charger/cable for my iPhone and iPad or need to use a USB-C to Lightning adapter.
- No headphone jack.
- Not sure if the more angular edges will make it less comfortable to hold.
