No.Do you guys think this may be the end of the line for iMacs?
MacBook Airs are quite common on campuses. I was at my local courthouse's Jury pool the other day, and the laptops I saw were mostly MBAs.It's their only education play for Mac
No but for like static computer terminals, the iMac is absolutely perfect. My university had a brand new library block built (just after I left! 😭), and equipped it with dozens of the then-new original iMac. These were so perfect, as they didn't need separate monitors and towers, so actually saved space, as well as being much easier logistically and ergonomically. They were even secured with Kingston cable locks, not that anyone was going to try to sneak out with a 44lb machine! So, the new models will be just as perfect for modern institutions. I see a disproportionate number of iMacs, mainly the smaller models (soz all 27" fans), in reception areas and the like. The iMac definitely still has a place.MacBook Airs are quite common on campuses. I was at my local courthouse's Jury pool the other day, and the laptops I saw were mostly MBAs.
All I can tell you is that I am absolutely thrilled with my M3 iMac. It replaced an Intel 27" and rocks for video editing. It's blazingly fast, compared to what I had before.I haven’t seen any reports about it being successful like the old days. Do you guys think this may be the end of the line for iMacs? M3 iMac may be the last ones?
iMac is 50% of all desktop sales.I can't remember the source, but I remember reading that iMac sales were 13% of Apple's total Mac sales.
13 percent.
Macbooks/laptops are something like 70-80%.
Edit: Found some data (estimated).
Oh that's not bad at all. Nice.I can't remember the source, but I remember reading that iMac sales were 13% of Apple's total Mac sales.

Small is relative. it’s not iPhone juggernaut, but it’s hardly insignificant.Mac sales are a very small piece of the pie for Apple profits.
Pretty much every other division at Apple brings in more revenue.
They really only keep it around as a dev environment for the IOS devices.
Thats why I skipped the M1 iMac and waited. 2 years or so later, M3 no 27" and from what Apple and experts keeps saying, there will be no 27" iMac. Either way for me, coming from a Late 2013, 21.5", the M3 is going to be a fun machine to have.I want a new iMac but not at 24"... 27"+ so I haven't upgraded.
My order says estimated delivery to my house Jan 3 - 5th. I ordered 24gb RAM and 2TB HD with Magic Trackpad and AppleCare Plus Subscription. This is only one anecdotal data point, but for what it is worth:
My wife ordered a BTO iMac (16 GB, 1 TB) on 5 Dec and was given an expected date of 21 Dec for arrival at the Apple store. It actually arrived there on 12 Dec. What with it being the holiday season, I was surprised at the estimated date of the 21st and even more surprised when it arrived 9 days earlier.
Either Apple has been making extra inventory on speculation or there is a lack of buyers.
I cannot find any iMac sales statistics in any of your links? The question was not about Mac vs iPhone, but it was about iMac specifically.Small is relative. it’s not iPhone juggernaut, but it’s hardly insignificant.
