lol you guys are trying to defend the lack of Customization in the iPhone?
Sure if you want to be the same as every other iPhone owner, no self identity, no distinctiveness.
That’s like saying, everyone should be driving the exact same car, have the same stereo, have the exact same floor plan and furniture in their house, have the same everything, as everyone else. Eat the same food everyday, wear the same clothes. At the same time losing a substantial amount of money doing it.
Sorry if I don’t think the same as everyone else, I think different, and I have personal tastes.
I think the point you're missing is that the iPhone is designed so well, it doesn't need customization.
There's a reason people are clamoring to make their Windows Mobile devices look and work like an iPhone, and not the other way around. The simple fact of the matter is that Windows Mobile (and PalmOS and Symbian, to varying degrees) need customizations to be truly useful.
LMAO its so good it doesn’t need Customization? That is possible the funniest thing I’ve heard all week, Customization isn’t all about usability, it’s about personal preference. Changing the WM and Symbian devices to the iPhone skin actually decreases the functionality of the phone because WM phones have way more applications than the iPhone and the icons cant all fit on the screen, you need to tap the screen more times to open up what you want. WM phones have more functions out of the box, and are more useful as they support more markets than the iPhone. (EX: the iPhone is a horrible business phone and does not target the business market, yet the WM does as well as the same market the iPhone targets)
Oh no, because none of the wireless operators in the US have forced the phone makers to turn off features built into the phone in favor of their own subscription services.
Again, the SMART people don’t buy into contracts, they don’t buy locked phones, they buy direct from manufacture for CHEAPER. and they have month to month fees
You say that as though Windows Mobile is substantially different. Mobile Device Center is Vista-only, and ActiveSync 4.5 is a buggy piece of trash, just like every previous iteration.
Mobile Device Center? never used it, I assume its some software to sync with your PDA, PMP, phone etc. ? don’t know what it is, don’t use it because I have a choice in my sync'ing software.
im using a beta version of active sync and it hasnt been a buggy like safari or the ipod function on the iPhone. (dont think your iPhone is buggy? just look at all the complaints on THIS forum about the software crashing)
also if you dont like active sync, dont use it, there are so many alternatives out there, its only provided with a WM phone becuase MS doesnt include anyone elses software on the disc. (Alternatives? chapaura, intelisync, etc, etc) Sync software >> YOU choose what you want to use, intellisync works well actually since BB’s use it.
The form factor of a phone doesn't change the underlying OS substantially.
No but changing the OS changes the OS, ive installed 3-4 different operating systems on my phone, and I choose the one I like. Now it runs more stable than the ****** official dopod rom I had on, yeah it was actually buggy, but this is true for most official OS's, the hacked versions run much more stable and provide alot more functionality. the WM6 version I have is BlackMajik, it has yet to crash and has WAY more Cooked in apps than any official Rom that has and will ever come out. (Apple forbid I flashed my phone with Custom OS)
I guess that’s why the rest of the mobile phone world calls iPhone users sheep.
