After using the 11" M4 for a few days, this is my conclusion so far.

I notice the speakers to be noticeably worse than my 11" M1 (2021) for FaceTime calls. The voices are lacking clarity and high frequencies, and sound kind of muffled. Same issue with watching YouTube videos where people are talking.

So I really hope Apple releases a fix for that. It could be solved by changing the equalizer settings a bit.

Is anyone else noticing this lack of clarity and high frequencies? I don't really care about music (I don't use my iPad as a speaker system, for music I have real speakers).

yeh same for me as well.

Right now i could still buy the M2 11 PRO, but is it worthy? i mean is almost 2 years old and LCD but no speakers issues.

Or simply don't buy anything...so disappointed. I wanted the oled pro to watch movies mainly, if sound is mediocre then it is a no no for me.

I would never buy an older device and I will just get used to those speakers. And I still hope Apple will provide a software fix.

In the end, the issue is there only for calls in my opinion. For everything else it sounds perfect to me. It works really well for movies.

You’d buy a pro “mainly” to watch movies and wouldn’t use external speakers or headphones?

a movie like Dune deserves higher audio quality than any tablet speaker could provide!

It's not that bad but definitely worse than the M1 and M2 ipad Pro. Still, a very good speak system compare to other tablet.

The Samsung Tab S9 speakers definitely sound better to me than the M4 speakers (more clarity, more neutral). Maybe Apple can still make improvements via software EQ.

I think they are sounding very good, very clear, better clarity than my 2018 Pro for sure.

oh gosh no…..the tab s9 speakers sounded thin and fatiguing to me.

Just came from the store, i just checked the 11' model, screen and weight no complaints they're pretty good, but sound is too low and there's not too much definition.

However that was in store (without a case), my bedroom could be a little different experience i guess? Anyway there are not more options, its that or nothing for me.

The speakers were never all that good to begin with. The older IPP’s were slightly better, but still I’d rate it like 6/10.

The m4 speakers are like a 5.5/10. It’s worth it for the reduced weight and thinness IMHO.
