Depends on the day, but usually I live all over.
So an odd topic but I’m curious if anyone else here is kind of as crazy as me with buying/owning multiple iPads...
I own/owned at one point...

I had many of those at once but sold them to pay for newer gens. For about 2 years I stuck with...

I didn’t need more than one obviously, but I bought so many because I had a problem... lol.
Plus, I got them on good sales and thought I’d have ones to use on the go while others stayed home. But since most didn’t have the power like the Pro, I never took them anywhere. I couldn’t justify the ones without pencil support, so I sold all and got...

iPad Pro 10.5” (2017) *for home.
The iPad 6, 9.7” (2018) *for on the go.

iPad (Traded for iPhone back in the day)
iPad 2 (Delegated to a drawer as iOS9 made it practically unuseable)
iPad Air 2

Will upgrade when the 10” pro comes way down in price, as I want pencil support, but not at the current price. (And I dont want to get a budget model with too little RAM again, as that has always been the reason for me being forced to upgrade iPhone and iPads, annoyingly)

LOL...sorry @Kal-037 just laughing at the title of the thread. That is amazing you went through almost the entire gamut.

I had the iPad 2, 3, and iPad Mini 4. Sold or returned all of them.

Right now iPP 12.9 2nd gen and another family member’s iPad 2 which desperately needs replacing.

I would love a Mini with Pencil capabilities. My favorite iPad was the Mini 4, though I like this iPP (except for the ASK which I do not use).

Eventually, I will get a 2018 or 2019 to replace that iPad 2. As for myself, upgrading to the latest and greatest has to wait, so I’d like this iPad Pro to hang in for at least another two years if not more. Perhaps by that time, there will be more options for the iPP and/or a Mini with pencil capabilities. I love using the pencil and Promotion is great.

So for my use an iPad must have pencil capabilities.

My first and only iPad was th iPad 4, I guess I'm ready for an upgrade. Really can't justify a iPad Pro since I have a MacBook Pro so I will be trading in the old iPad for the iPad 6 this coming week.

I know what you mean about needing EVERY model. I have owned every model of the iPhone from the iPhone 3G to the 8. Passed on the X and may try to control myself in the future to every other model since I'm now retired. I find myself needing a phone less and less but my use of the iPad has increased.

Started off with the iPad original (got that really SUPER cheap just after the iPad 2 launched). Random crashes on apps and annoying speed made me quickly upgrade to the iPad 2... I loved that machine.

Then the iPad 4 (loved Retina but waiting for lightning due to me owning the new iPhone 5). Next step up was the iPad Air 2 which, looking back, was my favorite iPad of all. Kept that until last year when I got the iPad Pro 10.5. It's not my favorite ever, but it's the most impressive iPad I've ever had. Those speakers, that screen, the thinness, battery and love the pencil. With iOS 11 the iPad has also turned into a real workhorse for me.

So: Yes, would never want to live without the iPad!

I have had iPad original, iPad 2, iPad 3 both wifi and lte , iPad Air, iPad Air 2, iPad mini first generation (both wifi and wifi+lte), iPad Mini second generation, iPad Mini 4. I have sold, trade in, pass down to family members.

I currently have, iPad 4 LTE, iPad mini 4, iPad Pro 10.5, iPad Pro 12.9, iPad 2017 (both 128GB Wifi and 128 Wifi+LTE) and iPad 2018 Wifi, I am going to get the 32GB wifi+lte version today.

I basically owned every single generation of iPad except iPad Pro 12.9 first generation and iPad Pro 9.7

I'm an iPad fan from the day the 1st gen was announced. I remember how the tech media was caught off-guard when Apple announced the price which was 1/2 of the $1000 they were expecting... I pre-ordered that 1st gen iPad and the keyboard dock. THAT was a great combination... sadly Apple never followed that up with another keyboard dock.

I'm not an iPad addict, but a fan:

iPad 9.7 (2010) (currently being used as a "picture tube" in a vintage TV)
iPad 2 (2011) (currently being used for church service projection)
iPad 4 (2013) (passed on to my adult daughter, still in use)
iPad Air 2 (2015) (my wife's current iPad)
iPad 12.9 Pro (2016) (my current iPad, daily productivity device)
iPad Mini 4 (2016) (my current iPad, daily media consumption/gaming device)

I'm looking to pass the 12.9 Pro on to my wife and getting the 2018 iPad to replace it.

I always say the iPad is possibly my favorite tech/gaming device I've ever owned. It still amazes me each time I use it, and would be lost without it.

I think the iPad Pro is the best I've ever had.
 
We went:

1. Original iPad 9.7” (2010) 16 GB wi-fi

2. Added an 128 GB Cellular iPad Air 9.7” (2013) (wife)

3. Swapped the original iPad for an 16 GB wi-fi iPad Air 2, 9.7” (2014) (me + kids)

4. because the kids' games started taking up too much space, we swapped the 16 GB wi-fi iPad Air 2, 9.7” (2014) for an 128 GB wi-fi iPad Air 2, 9.7” (2014) (me + kids)

5. We added an 128 GB Cellular iPad Air 2 9.7” (2014) for my wife, handing down the Air 1 to our youngest.

6. Added second gen iPad Pro 12.9” (2017) cellular + pencil for wife's illustrations.

So now we have 4 iPads. The next step will probably be swapping the Air 2 and Airs 2s down to 2 x The iPad 6, 9.7” (2018) + pencil, so going down from 4 to 3 iPads.

My kids were born in 2010 and 2011 respectively, for reference.

Yeah, it’s interesting how the iPad pulls you in not only on a practical level, but emotional as well. Kind of like the VW beetle from decades ago. A cool factor the Android world just doesn’t have.

As far as iPads, I've only owned 2. Funny thing, most who have chimed in on this thread haven't owned the iPad 3... That was my first one. And I gave it to my Daughter-in-law Last November. It was an everything on it version - highest capacity available and Cellular connectivity as well. I rarely buy less than the highest of everything available on Apple iproducts simply because of the possibility of usefulness as a stand alone, non essential product (I use all my old iPhones as iPods as long as the batteries hold up... and some of them I have even put new batteries in to keep 'em going).

I bumped up to the late 2017 iPad Pro and pencil last November and am absolutely blown away with how much different it is than the old iPad 3. This is the first time I didn't buy the highest capacity unit, due to al the other storage options available nowadays. but Still got a Cell version from AT&T, so I could get a better insurance deal on it. Apple Care is pretty much bogus on these units, where the cost of ATT insurance was a deal maker. 8.99 a month for as long as you keep up payments on it... I love that as my wife's iPhone 6S still has coverage after almost 3 years and they just dropped the cost of screen replacement to 49 dollars. eventually I expect they will cut it all together but from my reading, they'd probably replace the whole iPad if the screen got broken now...

I have to admit if I were a white collar worker, I'd probably buy a new one every year. These Pro units are a bit expensive for annual purchase, but I'd probably do it anyway. I hope next they add mouse compatibility on the pro in an update. They already have killer blue tooth, so it probably wouldn't be too hard. If they ever do that, I'll probably sell my MBP and go full on iPad Pro. A $3k + Notebook vs @1.2k on the IPP seems a no brainer at that point. With the iPad Pro I have become more adapted to and have become a slight iPadholic... Already looking for the next model for fun.
 
The iPad was the device that finally made me an Apple person. I didn’t buy the first one though. I wanted to wait until there was one with a front camera. I did buy an iPhone 4 In 2010, and then the next year I started in with iPads:

iPad 2
iPad 3 (with retina!)
iPad Air
iPad mini 3
iPad Pro 9.7”
iPad Pro 10.5”

My wife currently uses my old mini 3 and my older son has an Air 2. I remember scoffing at some analysts back in 2010 when they said eventually a lot of households would have an iPad per family member. In 2018 my house is almost at that point.

... and now I'm considering getting the "iPad X" this year if it's enough of a design change, even though my current iPad Pro already feels underutilized as I mostly just use it for light tasks. So you're definitely not alone there.

I think it helps a lot that iPads are much more affordable than new phones these days (and still retain a relatively good resell value). And personally when I'm at home I'm much more on my iPad than on my phone during my free time.

It's a sickness, I tell ya. :p

iPads I've bought for personal use. Skipped the first one. 256MB RAM wasn't enough on an iPod Touch (lots of out of memory crashes). I doubt it would have done any better on an iPad. There are others I've bought for family members which are not listed here. Bold denotes active use.

iPad 2, 4, Air1, Air 2 all given to family members, I now have 10.5 and 12.9 first gen.

Love them, use them for almost everything. My Mac Pro still has a few tasks, but less and less.
