Which furthers the frustration and disappointment that Apple refuses to move forward other than multiyear drip feeding.
I think They are not challenged by anyone the way customers think they are. I think this could contribute to their refusal of making major interface overhaul after 6 (now 7) years. Time will tell.

I'm disappointed in one thing. Time to let us place icons wherever we want. That's all I ask.

And where is Windows phone (and Windows 8) today?

Oh please...that has nothing to do with it.

The live lock screen was and is still a great idea that can simply be turned on if you wanted it. It was awesome, particularly for business. I just used to lay my phone in front of me and could see if any work emails or messages came in while the phone was still locked as well as see the current time. It was so light and subtle, no one else would really notice.

And again, at night in "clock mode" on my nightstand, it was always on yet put off practically no light (you could adjust the level)...now I have to reach over in the dark and tap my phone just to see what time it is and then swipe if I want to see if there are any messages. It was a Nokia thing more than a Windows Phone thing at the time.

Live tiles was also pretty amazing. For all the complaining people on here have had over the years about app information on the main screen (weather, time, notification numbers) and placement of apps on the screen, Live tiles had almost all the important info you could ever want right on the main screen without opening the app as well as the ability to resize to show more or less info depending on the app. I still miss that.

Lack of third party support and their inability to move to the single app system (hey...who suddenly decided to launch that this year, 4 years after Microsoft?) sooner is what killed Windows Phone. That doesn't mean it didn't have a bunch of really killer features.

I didn't expect a change but would like to see a weather deal that showed current weather/temp. Years ago I had a weather icon that showed the temp on the icon. Haven't seen a weather app that would do that in a long time.

I was hoping they'd give older devices a lock screen similar to the iPhone X and newer. I'd love to have that flashlight button right there on my lock screen and it's been done in jailbreak tweaks so I don't see why Apple can't add that.

Nope, not at all. I typically use my phone and don't stare at the screen all that much. Widgets are there if needed, everything else is just unneeded fluff.

Nope. I don't care if the look of something changes, and perhaps I'd rather if things don't change unless there is a good reason for the change. Sometimes changing for the sake of making fresh could diminish the utility original designed into the thing being refreshed. In other words, if it ain't broke, don't fix it :)

Yes. I know features matters more, but without a visual change my brain cannot acknowledge it. Second, I’m an adult, and I feel like I’m being catered by ToysRus with those large child-like icons. They don’t reflect ME, and that’s the issue. I don’t need a theme store, I just need them to be scaled down and freely move them around, so they’re not in my face. It’s as if your child has been taking out all its toys and tossed them on the floor when you get home from work, and to be able to put them back on the shelves would give me so much peace and enjoy my home(screen).

You are childlike

I don’t think that it’s unwanted. It’s probably that people don’t feel a driving need for it.

For me, it’s all about software now. The things I can consume and create on my phone are incredible. Even if you modify the interface I’m still doing substantially the same things in about the same amount of time. Therefore, I feel indifferent.

Too bad there isn’t a fourth option—Apple DID refresh the home screen, at least on the iPad. Now my widgets are always available to scroll through, and the icon layout is more compact.

I am not disappointed, but I would like to have the ability to freely position the icons on the screen as I see fit. The widgets are ok as a side screen and I don‘t really care about it. I also have the impression that the widgets on the iPad should be freely positioned, but I guess it‘s better than what we currently have.

I think what most people on here forget is that the average McRumors forum user is probably a little "brighter" when it comes to phone operation.

People, in general, are idiots....that includes the majority of iPhone owners.

You give them the capability to move apps/icons wherever they want on the home screen, calls to Apple support go up by 10,000% with people who can't find where their apps went.

The classic "they deleted my internet" when a browser shortcut gets moved or deleted from the desktop syndrome

I’m not disappointed at all I mean like most others have said I spend most of my time in apps not on the home screen.

The only thing I wish we could have gotten was an always on display cause I’m sure  would do an awesome implementation but I’m super happy with iOS 13.

Yes, I want a refresh. At a bare minimum I'd like to see a new set of icons. When this set of icons first came out with the iOS 7 betas, it seemed pretty obvious that they weren't designed by the A-team, and seemed likely that by the time the final iOS 7 was released, they'd be redone or refined. But that didn't end up happening, and we've been stuck with this crap for half a decade.

A weather widget on the lock screen is also a decade past due.

Wait till September... the brand new iPhone XI and XI Max may offer five icons across or in the dock.
Kind of off-topic, but why on earth is everyone expecting "iPhone XI" or "iPhone 11"? It's neither the 11th iPhone nor is it the 11th anniversary of the iPhone. Not counting S models, it's the 9th iPhone. Counting S models, it's the 14th iPhone. And the iPhone X was called X because it was the 10th anniversary. By that logic, this year's would be the iPhone XII. Where does the 11 come from?
