If you sell or give away your Apple device, you can also transfer the ownership of your AppleCare Protection Plan or AppleCare+ in regions that allow it. You can also transfer your AppleCare coverage plan between your own devices that are the same type of product and within 30 days of your original device purchase.

So, as long as you do it within 30 days of purchase. And it has to be the same type of device obviously, iPad to iPad, iPhone to iPhone etc...

Edit: I am not sure if this "within 30 days of purchase" applies to the old device that you're replacing, or to the new one. The way i read it, i think they mean the original one. So.. in your case, that would not work.

What you could do is cancel the AppleCare+ on that product and get a decent refund. Or even bring a damaged device in, let them replace/repair it and sell the "new" one for more cash instead.

I ALWAYS get apple care plus if available (now they are even available on Macs).
So I can use my device with peace in mind and without any case or screen protectors. No matter what you say, it feels better to use without those stuff.

Price wise, its not that much more expensive than a solid case+screen protector

That is some good reasoning: case is 80, cover is 70 or something like that? Zagg glass is also 50.
So say you don't buy these, buy an $150 AC+ for the 12.9" and 79 for the first incident...?!


And I agree with your point of naked use feeling better. Both for the screen (writing) as for holding the ipad (no cover) feels better.
Just one thing is less on the iPP12.9 and iPP9.7: a screen protector smudges much less.
The AR coating on the Gen1 Pro's is horrible as far as finger-print-collecting goes. It's really a magnet and I need to clean it daily.
Then again, with a screen protector I clean it daily as well.
 
I guess for the price of the 12.9 screen replacement I will consider it. I normally get it on computers, didn't on my current MBP and it's going to need it I think.

My kids don't have a screen protector on their 9.7 pro, and honestly they don't baby it and the screen is perfect. It's been an experiment in hardiness. Heck, the case on it isn't even for it - some generic iPad one I found in our warehouse. I just keep forgetting they need one until I have to use it.
 
I go naked with my iPad and I have a 6-year old, so AC+ is a must. She has her own iPad mini 4 (w/out AC+, ironically), but mistakes happen so I think it's best to cover mine.

$99 is not a huge investment and has paid off numerous times for me over the years. Plus I love that when I upgrade, I can get a prorated refund to apply to AC+ for my new iDevice.
 
Every time I needed to get a phone fixed I walked in. If I walk in with a broken device I've never been turned away.
You have had a different experience with your insurance company than many folks here. That's good for you.

No one said you would be turned away. I stated you would not be in and out as hassle free as another member insisted. If you do show up without an appointment you will wait....a long time....and that's just to be seen. Another hour or more to get the phone fixed. My experience is not any different than anyone else to file a personal property claim. Its the same for everyone since its all automated. Whats the concern?
 
If Apple devices are manufactured so well, then it would come down to luck whether or not yours would be faulty.

My previous iPad Pro 12.9's battery stopped charging on the 11th month. I did not have extended warranty on that. Such a bummer. It was expensive.

I had two Mac Pros. One from 2006 and one in 2013. But had lots of problems and had to be repaired several times. Luckily I had Applecare.

With the new iPad Pro, I bought Applecare.

It's just insurance. If you think you don't need it, then hopefully your product will keep working from 2nd year on. If you need it, you have peace of mind
 
Yes. Having a two year old, a dog and a cat, plus these being travel devices for us I feel it's worth the cost to have that insurance.

I think AC is $99 for iPads, and $49 for a replacement. So $150 total, or $200 for two replacements.
This provides much much better protection than the case/cover/screen protector. A case may only protect you from, say a 10ft drop, and you may still get some minor damage from the drop. An AC will not prevent it from getting damaged, but will protect your device from a 100ft, even 1000ft drop with no problem
 
wasnt going to, but for $99, and $49 replacement, its cheap for a biiiig screen and a thin device.
