Urg. It's not a good sign that EA can't push a really, really important game live on a cross-platform launch date.

I agree... I'm actually surprised that Apple and EA didn't work something out ahead of time for the launch, but this may have to do with the impending update and event coming this Tuesday; maybe there is something special planned for the iPhone's Spore release in addition to everything else happening on the Tuesday event?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_0_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5C1 Safari/525.20)

I'm curious to see it but 35 levels of swimming around eating stuff might be a little repetative. Especially at roughly 5 minutes a level I think it will have EA's Medal of Honnor syndrome (in which you can complete the game in an afternoon)

i've been waiting for this game for hours. i check like 10 times today. Does anyone knoe when's it going to be released?

maybe it's just me, but i was under the impression that when they said it would be released on Sept 7th, that meant the developer will RELEASE the game to Apple for approval on the 7th......which stands to reason, it may not show up for another week or so since we're now waiting on Apple's approval.

anyone else think different?

I've read that release on the iPhone will be later in Sept at the same time that Will Whateverhisnameis mentioned something about an improved iPhone version. Now this was about the time everyone was kicking off about how disappointing it was that the iPhone version didn't connect to the main game, following reviews of prerelease copies.

I take it with a pinch of salt but maybe....

It was probably submitted yesterday, but wont hit the store for a week or so since Apple is incredibly slow.

I was thinkin the same thing. I know it's exciting but give it time.

"Personalize your game-play by skinning your creature with pictures from your device's Photo Albums." - that should lead to some interesting looking creatures, heh.

Seems like big shops like EA must receive some "preferential" treatment by apple so that they can control release dates of their apps, whereas everyone else, it's pretty much when apple wants to release them.

Fair point. However, big 'brand' name developers are more dependable than some kid trying to make apps in their bedroom. So I expect Apple knows what needs checking out more.
IE, with some random unheard of developer, you don't know what you are going to get. So it needs looking into. Where as Spore etc is another matter entirely.

^ Agreed. I had a quick play with the demo creature thing on PC, and didn't see what the fuss is about. Looks like it was made for 8 year olds.
We're not all kids on here are we?!
Still, its getting enough attention that i'll give it the benefit of the doubt and give it another look. Not saying i'll buy it, mind.. (Actually, even if I did want to buy it, I cant because it isn't in the UK store yet)

Why is it that this is only available through the link above. If you search for "Spore" or even "Electronic Arts" it does not come up. And yes, i live in the US.

Try going to the App store homepage, click on Games then click on Action, and scroll down a bit and it should be listed somewhere in there.

Sometimes it takes a bit for the iTunes search to catch up. At any rate, it's listed under games in a couple of different categories (Action & Simulation).

um can any one find this on the ipod/iphone store i still cant find anything.

Chill out. It takes awhile for the apps to be added to the lists in the App Store on the iPhone and iTunes. Give it some time, it's not the end of the world. If you really need it now get it from the link above, and stop complaining.
