Im curious to hear these of you opting to buy the Non-ANC version of the AirPods 4. What’s the reasoning behind it other than the lower price?

Will wait for reviews on how effective the ANC is. Not expecting it to be near the Pro levels, but if it cancels enough outside noise that I don’t need to increase the volume. While I’m happy with the Pro 2, the tips get annoying for me (all IEMs I’ve had, though haven’t tried custom).

I was very happy with the comfort of the 3 and thought they sounded good for an open bud.

I don’t understand why anybody would get the $179 ANC model. You can pay $20 more and get the pros off Amazon, unless you can’t use them due to discomfort, etc
For me it would be different use cases for the buds vs the in-ears. In-ears for travel/commute because of added security in your ears and better ANC. Buds for work environment because they are just much more comfortable to wear for multiple hours.

But I'll agree that if I would only get one I would always pick the pros.

I don’t like tips, so that rules out the Pros. I’ve been waiting for USB-C so now is the time to buy.

The 4 ought to be enough as a first time user and the price makes them very tempting. But I don’t want to regret not getting ANC (not interested in wireless charging, as I expect to use my solar battery pack to charge them as I do with my smart watch.) So I will wait for reviews before making a final decision. Had they been about £150, I’d probably have ordered the ANC version straight away.

I wonder when we will see a review comparing the shape of the new AirPods 4 to the 3’s. Also, I wonder if there is ANY physical difference between the anc and non-anc version of the AirPods 4’s

I wouldn’t use the Pros if you paid me. I don’t like the pressurized feel of the ear seal. Don’t like the feel of the rubber tips in my ears. They cause me extreme discomfort after several hours of use unlike the AirPods 2 which I’ve been using for several years and can wear all day at work. The AirPods 3 are uncomfortable as well so I hope the AirPods 4’s shape doesn’t resemble that of the 3’s

In this video you can see a small comparison with the airpods 3
Great video thank you. It seems like the ANC and the Non-ANC versions of the AP4’s are identical in physical form. Is that correct? He didn’t mention any difference in the video between the two version. Does that mean that the ANC version doesn’t have any additional internal component for anc to work and is it purely software that’s doing the ANC?

what I’m curious about is the battery life between the anc version and the non-anc version. With anc disabled on the anc version is the battery life identical to the non-anc ap4? Does the anc version have a larger battery?

lo que me interesa es la duración de la batería entre la versión anc y la versión no anc. Con el anc desactivado en la versión anc, ¿la duración de la batería es idéntica a la del ap4 que no es anc? ¿La versión anc tiene una batería más grande?

The hands on showed the ANC version being controlled with an iPhone. I have an iPad and Samsung phone, so would I even be able to control the ANC?

Wanted to go to the Apple Store to look at the new Apple Watch (buying), as well as getting the new ANC Airpods, but the fires out here closed the store! Plus, I need more AirTags ... so I don't lose people in the smoke!

Sorry to hear about the fire. But you are just joking about the AirTags, right? Because they need nearby iPhones to work -- so if everyone is evacuating because of fire, they may not work so reliably, in cases where they become isolated without other iPhones nearby.
