It was a bad joke ... but we do use them in the home emergency bags ... prepared to run just in case.

Are you getting the AirPods 4 with ANC or without ANC and if so, Why?

With ANC for me. Assume you can turn it off if you want.

I ordered the gen 4s with ANC. I did so, because I love my Gen 3's, but ANC was the only feature I missed. I don't like the silicone tips on the pros.
Can't tolerate the tips on the Pros, so that's not an option. I have pre-ordered the AirPods 4 with ANC. My thought is I can test the ANC out (as well as the Transparency, Adaptive Audio and Conversation Awareness) to decide if the $50 upcharge is worth it for me. If it's not, I'll return them and get the base model. Reviews are great, but nothing beats being able to hear it for myself.
the pro 2 are incredibly uncomfortable, that's why Gen 2 remained as popular as they did for so long
if the 4s ape the design and comfort level of the 3s -- i.e. non-existent -- I will buy a large stock of the beloved Gen 2s to last me a lifetime
I have no opinion here until I try the 4's and see if the shape is better for me than the 3's

For me the Pro 2s are quite comfortable, I’ve worn mine for over six hours today and I barely notice them.
I have recently bought a Vision Pro and am looking to get a better sound than that provided by the internal speakers. At £129 without noise cancellation seems a good deal as they have the spatial sound needed for the Vision Pro. I have no use for the AirPods except for the Vision Pro and media consumption usually alone in my study.
I have the Pro 2 and Airpod 3. I also have some other good quality sealed wireless earphones. But I really enjoy the ease of use, comfort, and wide open sound field of the AP3. I have preordered the AP4 ANC. Looking forward to possible improved frequency response, maybe a little more comfort, and the isolation. I'll send them back if they haven't retained the brilliant sound stage.
I just pre-ordered the ANC version. Why? Because I want something as close to the AirPods Pro as possible, but without the in-ear design. No matter what, even with the XS tips, the in-ear design of the Pros feels uncomfortable to me. A slight smile and they just fall out...
The first and second-gen AirPods fit my ears perfectly, and I skipped the third-gen (went for the Pro 2 instead). So, this will actually be my first pair with the updated design (although it does seem like the AirPods 4 differ a tad bit design wise from the third gen).

Looks like Apple have listened to the public & provided a non-rubber-tipped Pod with ANC.
I’ll be very interested to see how the ANC between the AirPods 4 & AirPods Pro 2 compare.

With ANC. My first earbuds with that feature. Also being able to use "Find My" is a plus.
Just ordered mine with ANC. I really love my AirPods 3 but hoping that these new pods will be an improvement in terms of audio quality. ANC in this design is the real killer feature though! Can't wait to get hands on these.
Waiting on reviews of the ANC version, I'm happy with my APP2 but other half says they're really uncomfortable, so this would be an upgrade for her AP3 if the noise cancellation is actually able to do anything.
