i'm getting mine replaced.

I put them in my ears and hear the chime but they don't show connected on my iPhone until about 30secs later. unable to see battery status popup when the case is open next to my iPhone due to the battery of one airpod jumping randomly.

ANC model with setting off = should be identical sound experience to non ANC model right?

For those situations ie no downside other than cost to getting ANC model

I wouldn’t use the Pros if you paid me. I don’t like the pressurized feel of the ear seal. Don’t like the feel of the rubber tips in my ears. They cause me extreme discomfort after several hours of use unlike the AirPods 2 which I’ve been using for several years and can wear all day at work. The AirPods 3 are uncomfortable as well so I hope the AirPods 4’s shape doesn’t resemble that of the 3’s
To be fair... I used to hate rubber tips as well. I didn't like the underwater feeling, the pressure, feeling like my ears were clogged, but I pushed on because I loved the sound quality. After a few weeks of pushing through the discomfort, I barely feel them now. I know this is completely anecdotal, and maybe you're completely different, but that's what worked for me. It's worth it if you like the sound quality of good in-ears.

That being said, I don't think I can ever get used to the Etymotics.

The hands on showed the ANC version being controlled with an iPhone. I have an iPad and Samsung phone, so would I even be able to control the ANC?
Long press the stem for ANC and long press again for transparency. You don't need an iPhone to do that.

I don’t understand why anybody would get the $179 ANC model. You can pay $20 more and get the pros off Amazon, unless you can’t use them due to discomfort, etc
Because, I had the PRO for two years and they were supper uncomfortable for me.

I ended up returning the AP4's to the apple store yesterday. Extremely disappointed with them in terms of fit. Audio quality is nearly identical if not identical to the AP2's. The fit is nowhere near as good as the AirPods 2, not even close.
