If the new iPhone doesn't have some kind of cosmetic change?

Not really. Mine is kept in a case anyway, so that doesn't make a whole big difference to me. All I care about is the OS.

All I really care about is hardware, cause I already know what software it's going to have, but I'd like to see some kinda change to the design.

No. The point of the iPhone is 2 things:

Touchscreen
Software

The point of the hardware is to go as unnoticed as possible. I already just think of the hardware as 'black edges around my screen.' I'm not sure how to make it much more minimal than that. Can you? I could stand the phone to be slightly thinner (but not as thin as the iPod Touch) but that depends on the technology available. I don't think they can do much about that right now. So I really have no suggestions for what they should change.

Unless, of course, you're talking about going the other way and making the hardware MORE visable and MORE obvious.

In which case I'd say, no, that's a very bad idea.

Do a poll

And yes, I think they should do something different, at least give one or two more colors of plastic. I shouldn't have to look into replacing the back and voiding my warranty if I want to change the color to make it something more unique.

I'm a mindless sheep, but at least make it less obvious

Oooh, and spikes on the back so no one else touches my effing phone

+1 Completely agree.

They have to please get rid of the stupid scratch-magnetic bezel. They should make it brushed metal that I don't have to keep going over with a scotchbrite sponge every few months, though I do love my "mod" job :)

Since you already know, please enlighten us.

OSX and whatever it's missing I'll just JB to get it.

Small white car: As far as hardware goes that is important, have you use a JB 3g and compared it to a JB 3gs, it's a day and night difference. Why would anyone want to have the hardware MORE visable and MORE obvious. You must have not upgraded to the 3gs because hardware was the only thing apple change from the 3g.

Yes. It needs a bigger screen and shrink the home button. Making it thinner also helps. I think this is an important year for the iPhone. Last year, there weren't too many competitors, so they didn't do anything to the 3GS. But now, with Jobs back, I'm expecting something more. Competition is pretty fierce in the smartphone market. I just hope that they spend more time working on making the iPhone better instead of just suing other companies to try to make their phones worst.

Meh, I won't be devastated if there's not a significant cosmetic change, but it might be nice to have something at least a little different. I'd love to lose the crack-prone plastic housing for sure. I baby the everloving %$#@ out of my phone and have never dropped it so much as 6 inches onto a down pillow, yet I have cracks by the headphone jack and barely-visible hairline cracks by the screw holes on the bottom. It really does make me angry every time I see them.

Of course, it's what's inside that counts, but still.

You said COSMETIC change, so that's what I was talking about.

The 3G and the 3GS are identical, cosmetically. The hardware (in the sense we are talking about it) did not change at all.

Bigger, better screen.

Yeah, it's the best touchscreen, but it's 3 years old. Come on.
Just cause it's 3 years old? I don't think I want the iphone to be bigger... a bigger screen means a bigger device is that really what you want? If so get an iMaxiPad? I don't see what could be better about the current screen... maybe someone can enlighten me?

I would like to see Apple go back to the aluminum back, but will I throw a fit if that doesn't happen? No. It would be nice if the new software had a LockInfo type lockscreen like us JB iPhone users have.

I'd like to see some cosmetic changes.

What im hoping is it evolved in a way the iMacs have over the last few years.

Thinner, nicer display, aluminum maybe?

Not a total overhaul, but some nice costmetic changes.

Knowing Apple, even with iPods they make small adjustments when they can. I think we will see some cosmetic changes with the iPhone

Phones are becoming more and more of a fashion accessory as well so companies are constantly thinking of new designs

I would not like to see the iPhone screen large then it already is. A larger screen iPhone would definitely not appeal to me. Hence why Apple is releasing the iPad.

The design is 3 years old, with the first one being a little different. How many of you would buy the same style car year after year?

I like the hardware, so it is not such a big deal to me. More important is what is the OS going to be like.

I'm with you. I love how the 3GS looks and feels. I don't care if they change the hardware. Most likely won't be buying the new one anyway (I say that now...).

I'll surely be a little peeved if they release 4.0 and there's no major OS changes. Mostly I just want to see some sort of summary of alerts on the lockscreen.
