OSX and whatever it's missing I'll just JB to get it.
... What will it have?
No one outside of Apple HQ knows for sure... but if history is to be our guide, the answer is yes.Does anyone know if we will be able to update an iPhone 3GS with the new software coming in June?![]()
They absolutely need to up the screen resolution.
It's pretty much a guarantee that that won't happen. The iPad + pixel doubling proves it.
480 x 320 was amazing...3 years ago. They've used the same LCD screen component for three generations in a row now.
If they use it again, I'll probably look for a different phone.

Seriously? You'd discount the new iPhone, just because it had a perfectly acceptable screen, but doesn't have a trillion pixels? 90% of the people who buy the iPhone, don't care about the screen resolution, or whether it's as good as the Nexus phone.
As long as there's a revised software, I'd be happy. I'm quite content with the hardware of my 3GS, and everything it does. Some new software would be nice though.
Eye candy is a big part of the smartphone experience. The screen is adequate, but it's 320 x 480 resolution is now the standard for even the cheapest smartphones while resolution continues to get larger for higher end devices. For such a premium device, it's starting to stagnate in terms of design and hardware.
And it wasn't just the screen that I take issue with. The grid interface dominantly used by the iPhone os needs a bit of an overhaul after staying relatively unchanged after three iterations. With all the apps out there, Apple needs to find a way to conveniently sort and organize apps within the homespace without having to scroll across five or so screens.
Developing apps with three different screen resolutions in mind could be a pain. Larger screens would see some nasty scaling. Nobody wants to abandon the 2G/3G(S) market straight away and a hundred extra pixels isn't worth a full app redesign.
