10/10

Love it. Wish I could afford a twin for my wife.

Mind you also, I do own a Macbook and a Mac Pro.

It's a 9. Very quiet and quick. Only problem is that water can get underneath the glass if you put too much water on the little rag they give you. (Leaves mineral residue).

I love the thing. Bought it the day it was released...

Works 100% flawless. Runs 32bit XP Pro great, and Supreme Commander runs excellent (awesome RTS).

9/10 mainly because you cant really upgrade it.

20" 2.4 2 gig's of ram and the 256 card.

I bought my iMac 20" the day it was available. It works very well. I still use the older iMovie but I have no complaints. I love the glossy screen where the colors jump right out and the new keyboard is the best I have ever used. This is the fifth or sixth Mac I've owned. I started with the Apple ll back in 1981. Believe me, Apple has come a long way with this iMac and I'd rate it a 9.5!

I rate mine a 9 out of 10.

It's my first Mac (I had been waiting 6 months for the update), purchased 2 days after release. Mine has been trouble free and I wish I'd switched to Mac years ago. I have no issues w/ the glossy screen given my home office environment. Like many others, I love the feel of the keyboard.

It took me less than a week to get accustomed to OS X, and several members of my extended family who have seen it and tried it out now want one. So does my 8-year-old son, who had been excited to inherit my 4 year old Dell machine until he saw the new iMac.

I got my brand new 20" iMac this past weekend. Its my first Mac ever and I am extremely pleased with it.

Migrating over from windows was seemless and very easy to get everything organized. Hooking up my second monitor was as easy as plugging it in to the Mini-DVI to VGA adapter.

The screen is absolutely gorgeous. Perfect for watching movies and TV shows. I'm falling in love with FrontRow.

If I were to just rate the computer itself I would give it a 9.5/10. However, the mighty mouse is giving me a bit of trouble since I've enabled the secondary funtion for right-clicking. It doesn't always seem to register as a right click. But then again, it could just be my fault. The new keyboard is amazing and makes up for the mighty mouse problem. Rating the system as a whole, 9/10 for sure.

Amazing system and I am so pleased that Ive switched!

I am very happy with my new 20" imac, I bought it yesterday and it´s my first mac :) , the only thing I changed was the mouse :) .
I was trying to switch to mac for about a year and yesterday I did it :apple:
btw this is my first post :).

I guess it isn't that bad ;)

Love it!

I rate mine a 9/10. Coming from the previous 17" iMac I purchased not even a year ago, I can strongly say I am loving this model even more--in terms of both performance and design. Have not had any problems since 8/7/07 (crashes, freezing, etc.), and it's plenty fast, as I have the 2.4GHz with 1.5 GB ram. After calibrating the screens color, I am 100% satisfied with my screen--glare doesn't pose a problem for me either. :D

THAT'S IT, I'm buying one !

THAT'S IT, I'm buying one !

I think you're making an excellent decision--one you definitely won't regret. People tend to be "scared" off from buying Apple products, like the Imac, because all they read are threads created by those select few who are experiencing rare problems. What these people aren't reading/"hearing", are those that are 100% satisfied with their purchases. Enjoy your new iMac !

10/10

I love it :D First Mac ever and I'm impressed, despite a few problems I've had (2 crashes and a stuck pixel. All sorted now :D)

So, apart from that, I love it and am very pleased with my new iMac! All I need now is some software! haha. (Spending £1000 on a computer means I have no money anymore, considering I have no job (I'm 15 :p))

lol woo! :D

Just wished I'd waited until I could afford more software, wait, some software! lol

My apps are: Standard Mac apps, AppDelete, Skype, Celtx, Skitch, MSN for Mac, DivX player, VLC player.

All free xD

Scaring me off

New poster in here and potential first time Mac potential iMac buyer so be gentle. I've been to an Apple store twice already to view the new iMacs and I was quite impressed after trying it out. Mind you I never used a Mac before in my life. I didn't notice any problems with the 20 or 24" computer but then again I wasn't really looking for any imperfections and none really stood out to make me notice. Well after reading many of these posts and reading some of the problems people are having I'm a little leery about getting one. Some people seem to like them and others not. I still have my eye on the 20 incher but with all the complaints I read in these forums I'm still skeptical. I'm sure there are those that will find fault with anything and some will have a legitimate gripe, but I think overall most people seem to be satisfied with their new iMacs. I am waiting for leopard to come out before finally deciding to buy the 20" model. But some of these horror stories real or imagined might scare me off and I will still be using pc's till I drop. I had really wanted to try a Mac and wanted to try something different other than window pc's for a change. I've never used a mac before. Someone encourage me please!

Same as him. I had a Compaq Turion Dual Core running Vista ( what a joke) that I bought last December.

My first computer was an Apple IIe that I had sometime in the very early
80s, then I was stuck in the Windoz world for all these years due to work, but always wanted a Mac. Finally, when I saw the new Aluminum iMacs, I said, thats it, its now or never.

I did have one freeze, the update that was released a few days ago seems to have fixed stuff.

I love it and in fact, will not put any Microsoft stuff on it. I use iWork, and even got aMSN as my messanger client. http://www.amsn-project.net/

Wow, I'm surprised by reports of problems. My 20" 2.0 Ghz has been 100% problem-free.

Coming from a Compaq Celeron computer that sounded like a jet engine, the iMac is nearly silent. OSX is just a dream, as I've been running Windows XP for five long years, and before that I ran Mac OS 9.

I'd rate my new 20" aluminum iMac as a 9, only because there's not such thing as a ten!

Salmar, dont wait as long as I have, I'm 52 and finally got one. I have had no problems, and as far as I know most people havent. If you do, Apple takes good care of its customers.

I had a few questions that I posted on the Apple Discussion Forums, and the responses came back quickly and resolved the issues I had. Very impressive. I also got the 3 years AppleCare.

naftalim, thanks for the reply. Well I am going to get the 20" iMac when leopard comes out in October or whenever. I'm even older than you are and I want to try the mac because it's different from windows. I hope I won't be disappointed. The only concern that I would have is that being totally unfamiliar with OSx I wouldn't be able to spot any flaws that others in this forum are reporting.

9. The 1GB standard ram lags when I open too many apps. Upgrading to 2GB soon so it'll all be better. Otherwise, I love it. Had a Macbook and iBook previously and it's nice to go back to a desktop.

9.5/10

My first Mac and I love it. A possible 10 if it wasn't for the display issue (faded colours, although it doesn't bother me much). I went in the Apple Store to just "have a look", and couldn't leave without one!

Love mine. Got the 2.4GHz 20" model. Have to be careful of smudges on the glossy screen but it's been rock solid for me.

9/10

my 5th mac in total. 3rd iMac.

and it is the best so far. i have had very few problems with it.

very pleased so far!

My first iMac had a dead pixel so I got it replaced and now everything is great! I love how silent it is—my old iMac G5 doesn't even compare! The screen's color shifting disappoints me but it isn't as bad as my iMac G5's. Looking head-on at the screen looks fine though. Many people might not even notice it. I knew the screen was going to be like that before buying but I couldn't afford the 24". However I'm a graphic design student so the issue applies more to my uses than most consumers I suppose.

4th mac

10 out of 10

And thats because it came with one dead pixel and is not upgradeable.

Yes 10 out of 10, it is an amazing computer in every aspect (looks, screen, speed, noise, reliability)

9.5/10

This computer totally rocks! I wasn't sure about the glossy screen, but I'm getting used to it really quick. The screen was a little washed out at the bottom, but after running the calibration tool in System Preferences, it looks great! I love the new keyboard, and what makes the iMac even better is that it was free! Apple sent it to me as a replacement, since my other one died.
