I really hope that the battery is really good! That’s what made me love the SE.

With all the advancements with Apples A-Series processors, iOS improvements and lithium ion technologies has matured a lot, there’s zero reason why the battery life shouldn’t be more than sufficient on this next version of the SE. Apples battery life standards have only increased every year, it’s never gone backwards.

Pretty much the only people who are gonna say “no” are the ones who are still holding out hope for the return of the 4” form factor. Unfortunately for them, they are a small minority. A 4.7” iPhone SE with an A13 chip would probably be the smallest phone on the market with a flagship chip, so there is ZERO market pressure from competitors to make anything smaller.

Well, I’m still hoping the 5.4” bezel-less flagship phone will be physically smaller that a cheap updated phone with an 8 form factor. Cost is no object to me......only size.

let’s say single camera sensor that’s the same as the on 11
This will be the deciding feature for me. Totally on board with 4.7 lcd, touch id, bezels are fine (not drawing attention). If it doesn’t have the latest gen camera however, I’ll be forced to look elsewhere for a good value upgrade from my SE.

If you have the SE, the camera should still be a significant upgrade, even if Apple keeps the same camera they have on the iPhone 8. I had a 6s and now the 8 Plus and it's a difference like night and day, especially in low light.

Nope, iPhone 8 camera won’t work for me. I could’ve bought it long ago if I thought otherwise. I was on the fence about getting Pixel 2 or perhaps P30, but then the first rumors about this SE2 appeared so I decided to hold out a while longer cause iPhone is just a more reliable and durable product overall.

I doubt Apple will improve the camera much on this SE, if at all. If you want a good camera, they want you to get the 11 or better yet, the 11 Pro.

I’m of the opposite opinion. The original SE came with the latest flaship camera tech. Don’t see why they won’t do the same this time around. The differentiating factor would be the number of cameras - 1, 2 or 3, but the main one will be the same across the board. 11 and Pro sales will be in no danger as people would still fall for the bigger screen size and the “modern” design.
Anyways, we’ll find out soon enough

Nope, I had the 8 and my current XR camera is significantly better. The new SE will need a camera from at least last years models to be a worthy upgrade.

Depends on the person and what they value. Camera upgrades whilst nice, aren't the "be all and end all" for me, and certainly wouldn't be a deciding factor in upgrading to the SE2 if it's released.

I'm moreso focused on other items: A fast processor (either the A12 or A13), a good amount of ram (ideally 4GB), solid home button with touchID V2, stereo speakers, and a relatively inexpensive price ($399USD would be great, but this is Apple, so I'll believe it when I see it) are the items I'm chasing.

Not sure. Price-preformance seems to be very well balanced, if not more than that, however, if its all glass back as well as poor display to body ratio, will have to think about whether to get it or not. For the price it will probably sell pretty well regardless.
For me its either reasonably priced iPhone with lengthy software updates and support or reasonably priced Pixel 4a next year(if that comes to fruitition). However, iPhone 8 design getting long in the tooth and looking really outdated regarding oversized body to screen.

It’s essentially a 6SSSS so probably time to move on from it

This complete comparision with 6sss is stupid.

The current iPhone 8 you could call 7s, yes, but not 6sss. Why?

6
6s
7
8 (7s to be honest, 8 just sounded better i guess)

There are enough differences between the 6 and the 7. Just because the front looks the same, so what?

I have an iPhone 8 which i'm happy with to have an upgraded iPhone 8 with the better specs battery life etc all it really comes down to is the cost of the device

I'd rather it uses the sturdier iPhone 7 case, honestly. That was the nicest looking iPhone ever.

It won’t be called SE2. The SE is a long dead product line that hasn’t been updated for nearly 4 years. With good reason, the SE is a piece of cr*p , screen is way too small.

Not really interested in the 8 refresh. The SE is the ideal form factor for me, with a timeless design. All it ever needed was to contiue getting flagship internal spec updates (like it did), and Apple would have had a guaranteed steady source of income from me (I don’t even care about screen improvements). And they could have charged a lot more than they did, too. I don’t buy a new phone every year so price is pretty irrelevant to me. But I haven’t bought a new iphone since the SE because I can’t stand big phones.

But if the 8 refresh is the closest iphone to what I want by the time my SE craps out (might be able to squeeze out another 2-3 years), then I suppose I’ll have to consider it. But I will also consider and probably lean toward any smaller non-iphone options out there.

outdated 4" form factor
What does the date have to do with my size preference?

The simple fact that not enough people want a 4" phone in 2019. The market isn't there, and no, a couple hundred or thousand people with your size preference isn't enough for Apple to make another 4" phone. The current 4.7" is still very compact for a modern smartphone. You don't find a current gen Android phone with a similar size to the iPhone SE or even the 8, they stopped making them a long time ago because almost nobody would buy them anymore. The smallest iPhone that actually sells is probably the 4.7" of the 6/6s/7/8, many more are just happy with the X/Xs/Pro or their Xr/11 and the plus and max sized phablets. I understand not everyone wants a phablet or a larger sized phone, and that's totally acceptable, but if there is no market for a phone that small as the current SE, what can you do?

I wasn’t making any insinuations about the market nor what Apple should do. I only disagree with your usage of the term “outdated” in regard to screen size because it implies progression. This works for things like tech or fashion, but phone size is neither of those—it’s purely a subjective preference based on an individual’s usage and desires. Eg. Trucks used to be the majority, now they’re in the minority, but they’re not “outdated”.
