Pretty much the only people who are gonna say “no” are the ones who are still holding out hope for the return of the 4” form factor. Unfortunately for them, they are a small minority. A 4.7” iPhone SE with an A13 chip would probably be the smallest phone on the market with a flagship chip, so there is ZERO market pressure from competitors to make anything smaller.
I feel like the reason they would want a 4” form factor iPhone is either nostalgia or the design of it. And sure the design looks good, but personally I wouldn't want to go back to a 4” iPhone after using a 6S for almost 3 years now.

Too late for me, already bought an 11 and will likely carry it till it’s no longer supported with OS updates.

I would like to pick up an original SE though. I always liked the design.

Hoping there's a $499-649 256GB config available.

I doubt it. They also removed the 256 GB on the current 8 and 8 Plus and replaced it with a 128 GB model that wasn't available before. 256 GB was also removed on the Xr. If you want 256 GB, you need to buy the iPhone 11 or Pro. There's a strategy behind it and Apple does this for years now. Same with colors, not just Product Red. Jet Black was removed on the 7 and 7 Plus in Sep. 2018, and they also removed the gold options from the 5s and 6 back in 2015 when the 6s was launched. I guess it's a way for them to force people to buy the new phone and spend more, if they desire a certain color that was previously available or storage capacity.

I'm holding on to my SE for as long as I can. If Apple doesn't come out with a similar sized model I will make my decision of what to do next once it is no longer usable.

I picked up an SE when straight talk sold all theirs off for $49. I unlocked it and now use it as a date night phone (my wife doesn’t want emails or work to reach us when we are out).

Was that with a line contract or just clearing inventory?

If they did an LCD phone slightly smaller than an 8 (say 5 inches exactly) but with a full screen like the X/XS/11 that would be amazing. The bezels would drive me insane now.

I’ll probably pick one up as a backup phone, the current SE is still a great phone, just too small, but this one will be even better for years to come

I can get by with 128GB on the iPhone. That said, both iPad mini 5 and Air 3 have 64GB and 256GB options. I'm hoping they go the same route for an iPhone 11 mini.

They really should have stuck with the 4 inch form factor. If they can fit Face ID it would be ideal. And then keep the se2 model around for the next 3 years with no price design of spec change.

Both the mini 5 and Air 2 are pretty much new devices and are also more expensive than the regular entry-level 10.2" that is still 32 and 128 GB. I hoped Apple would do 64 GB & 256 GB on those aswell.

If these rumors prove to be true in the spring. And let’s say single camera sensor that’s the same as the on 11 (be it regular crop or wide angle)

I voted yes, but not necessarily for me, since I already have more iPhones than I have phone lines (1 main, 2 backup). I have the X as my primary phone, the SE as my primary backup (form factor), the 7+ and a 6s. 3 different networks so should be covered traveling.

But this "SE2" would be good for people less interested in phones (and not as willing to spend the current money) for when they need to upgrade. My sister is using the original SE, and presumably will need to upgrade to a new phone at some point that supports B71. Her husband is using the iPhone 6 that I bought new for myself at release. Their options if something happens are likely either this SE2, or possibly one of my extra phones :)

At the $329 price point, I was more or less expecting Apple to stick to 32GB on the entry-level iPad.

We don't know how Apple's gonna price the rumored SE2 yet. This *is* a new model even if they recycle the chassis design and if the rumors pan out, it'll have either same chipset as mini 5/Air 3 or perhaps even the latest A13.

Apple might end up making it mid-range similar to the mini 5 with pricing somewhere in between iPhone 8 and iPhone 11. I wouldn't mind if this ends up being 64GB/$549-599, 128GB/$599-649 and 256GB/$699-749 as long as the specs justify it (basically if it has similar specs to iPhone 11 but in iPhone 8 chassis with TouchID).

We know much of the rumor, which i think it'll be exactly like that:

- iPhone 8 design
- No Plus variant
- No 3D Touch
- A13 chip & 3 GB RAM
- 64 & 128 GB options
- Space Gray, Silver and Product Red colors
- 399$ starting price

I don't know, it just makes sense.

am hoping that it contains the U-1 chip.
if apple intends to push hard its rumored Tile product and improved Find My capabilities, there is reason to hope that a U-1 chip will be in this new device.

With a budget focused iPhone, I don't think you should look for the latest hardware from Apple.

then again, i am hoping that if it is accurate that family, teenagers, etc are a principle upgrade focus for this device, then such a built in Find My capability is probably a good marketing strategy.
you are right that we can not expect the latest hardware. but then again, it does have an A13 chip...

Sounds unlikely imo. Apple currently sells XR for 599. Which has Face ID and the fancy “new”, “all screen” design which is all that most people notice when they look at it at the store. This “SE 2” is designed to replace the iPhone 8 in the lineup, so it must be priced cheaper than XR. Despite having the better specs, remember the exact same iPhone 6 vs SE phenomena in 2016. I can see them pricing this “SE 2” starting at 499, but 399 makes more sense for what this phone is intended for - competing with Android for OS-agnostic customers in the markets outside of US.

They should charge a premium imho, the people who want a smaller frame are willing to pay for it.

Premium? Last time I checked, [And I’ve been an Apple user for quite some time owning 30+ products], pretty much everything Apple prices is premium, which includes anything from a lightning cable all the way up to iMac Pro. There’s nothing that they don’t have in their lineup that isn’t ‘premium’ in price, the difference being, is rather somebody can afford Apples prices or not. (I.e. Other third party emerging markets.)
