Well,to be honest I'm really impressed with it :D

The upgrade went smoothly (less then 15min) in a new MBA 2012 and absolute everything runs better now compared to Lion.Global performance just makes me smile hehe

I'm plenty sure you won't regret from the upgrade :)

I absolutely love Mountain Lion! I haven't had one problem with it so far *touch wood*.

For a first release it is really stable, in my experience. It runs so much more efficient than Lion. Lion wasn't slow but it wasn't fast and it always made my MacBook run quite hot all the time. Mountain Lion is way faster/smoother and my MacBook feels cold all the time. There's no need for the fans to be going, I can't hear them at all. On Lion you could always hear them spinning away, not loudly but you could tell they were going.

Another thing I'm loving is the battery life! My MacBook is almost 4 years old, the battery has gone through 1400 cycles and has 89% health (according to coconutBattery) and I was getting 2.5hrs MAX out of a full charge with normal use. My battery currently has 3.5hrs left at 90% charge!

Overall it just feels much more complete. It ties in with iCloud/iOS very well which I like. I wasn't so sure about OS X tying in with iOS a couple years back but I quite like it. I'm really looking forward to the point releases in the future which can only improve stability/performance.

Freaking wifi problem exists like it does on every dot zero Apple release - two out of two of my different machines all fail to reconnect to WiFi after wakeup from sleep.

Not happy at all.

1.) Switching spaces is now laggier than it ever was on Lion, and seems to actually take longer, meaning more time waiting to actually use the space.

Download the app TotalSpaces. Then you can turn off the space switching animation altogether. I go from space to space with Ctrl+number key and it's instant. Or use CTRL+arrow keys to go to the next or previous one. I couldn't use Lion/ML without it. And you get the Snow Leopard grid back as well!

I honestly think Lion and now ML are the worst iterations of OS X to date. Mind you, I've been using Macs since and LC with OS 7. The greyscale icons, the lack of any color in the menu bars or Finder sidebar seems to me like a huge step backwards, not to mention simply boring. At the very least, let ME decide whether to have color or not in a preference tab that should be integrated into a single pref pane. Also, the Documents folder lacked the ability to sort by clicking at the top. Stupid UI features carry over, like the Finder prefs and View options. iCloud offers me nothing I really need and i resent Apple requiring Lion or ML in order to use iCloud and basic features like Back to my Mac. I used that feature in SL to support various relatives Mac's scattered across the US. Most of SL and one has Lion. There is no technical reason for this, just a marketing push by Apple. The one other MobileMe ( .Mac) feature I used was iDisk, thats gone now too.

I upgraded on the first day and today, I went back to Snow Leopard, which will likely be considered the last of a fine breed. My MBP and 27" i5 iMac with ML became slow, lots of spinning beach balls and both had Wifi issues that didn't exist before. I don't like Safari's integrated address and search field nor its sluggishness and total failure to load some sites. The new Safari is a weak attempt by Apple and doesnt really compare with more robust browsers like FF and Chrome.

Overall, the OS was not impressive and offered me no functionality enhancements that I needed. I'm back to Snow Leopard and probably here to stay.

Very happy with it so far. Haven't done any extensive work on my Mac since upgrading but so far it just feels more responsive overall. Certainly better than Lion. I think this is truly the "Snow Leopard" upgrade for Lion.

I was fired up about Mountain Lion but then I read that RSS (and the Activity window) were eliminated from Safari and RSS was eliminated from Mail. As a result, I'm holding off on M.L. for now. (For purposes of this thread, I guess I'm unhappy with M.L. even though I haven't installed it yet.)

Not a big change for me. Chrome is still the way to go. Other than that, I guess I needed a clean install after all. Everything is faster but that's probably becuase I formatted my disk, not the new OS.

However, I love the dock. Change is good.

Get Dragon Dictation for FREE

Been using Dictation with iMessage. Love it. I have an iPhone 4 without dictation so I'm loving this.

Love AirPlay.

Notification Center is long overdue.

Really wanting Power Nap. The update isn't downloading right now.

I don't see Gatekeeper right now.

Get Dragon Dictation for FREE and you'll have dictation on your iPhone 4, or ANY iPhone for that matter!

Duff-Man says...well, so far I'm pretty happy with it. 10.8.0 seems better than 10.7.whatever ever was, and I think it'll just get better with .1 and .2. I've a few quibbles with the new Safari but no game-breakers, perhaps some hacks/extensions will deal with those, but overall it's a solid release for me....oh yeah!

Honestly, I didn't have any problems with Lion that everyone seemed to be getting. No lag or stability issues at all. But ML is fast! I didn't think I was gonna get a speed increase updating, but it's flying! I'm very satisfied. The iOS integration is also useful too.

I seem to be having the opposite experience as many of you. I upgraded from SL and my computer is much slower now and runs much hotter. I wish I could go back to SL. This computer is just barely 3 years old. I know that's a long time, but it shouldn't be so difficult to use.

Yep yep and yep. Not to mention finder is really limited. They don't offer the feature of merging two same name folder/ document. This feature is really really useful in windows 7 especially if u deal with lots of documents day to day. Also u cannot cmd c or x any files or folders. Another cool windows trick. It doesnt allows u to copy the path for the files easily unless u drop it in terminal. Also it doesn't have the jump list of most recent files on the app/ program-- thats super useful! not to mention u can pin files on the jump list. And Aero snap! Mac can really learn a thing or two fr windows.

And why don't mac have a official app or program to remove apps? Windows have a built in add or remove program. Mac have something from a third party. Also trash sometimes don't have put backs for all of the items. I just see Mac offering a lot of fluff stuff not essential stuff, and I'm comparing ML to windows 7. It seem to me that an yearly update means- more rushed, less planned out, more bugs for the consumer than like a 3 year update for windows. The windows to Mac transition has not been very smooth. I like SL because of expose but mission control really messed it up and not to mention ML crashed my system of 16g of ram memory. I'm not for windows or for apple but yea apple is definitely pushing for hardware than software and vice versa for windows. In conclusion of this long post- windows have better OS in terms of functionality. ML is too much eye candy and not really all that impressive eye candy as Linux.

Definitely love using Mountain Lion. I have only had it installed for a few days and I have already used calendar, notifications, notes, and iMessages enough to complain if I had to switch back :D. Definitely a nice upgrade from Lion, even though I really enjoyed using that as well. Makes it really nice to just be able to update different things such as notifications and notes or my calendar while I'm on the computer (such as my shopping lists) and then pick up my phone and go and know it will be updated there.

One thing that would be nice to have is to be able to communicate with people that have android phones from our iMessages to whatever their version of that is. This would allow me to not have to worry about whether I'm getting an important text message from someone while I'm on my computer and to be able to respond irregardless of their cell phone type. Anyways, maybe someone will come up with a way to achieve this in the future.

I had to download resp. install ML three times. Icons in Finder not showing, no Dock background showing, no system sound, etc etc etc.
Of course this leads to searching the web, reading forums... IOW losing a lot of precious working time. Not to mention the frustration of feeling like your machine "just works (by luck)".

So, my first impression is not good at all. This no longer feels like Apple.
I'm considering a clean install, so even more time will float down the drain.

do you all work for Apple?

Are you kidding me? Mirroring doesn't work, and Messages is a complete piece of ****. I now get messages on my computer and not my phone, even when my computer is shut off. Also, the search in the url bar sucks ass. Is there any way to get the google search box back?

I've been a mac user since practically day one and this is the most suck ass piece of crap I've seen in many years. I really hope they get their **** together.

To complain bitterly about these things is pure nitpicking. At least the people who are having problems with stability, wireless connectivity, etc. have actual problems.

Yeah, right. Your username doesn't even try to hide it.

And why don't mac have a official app or program to remove apps?

Because OS X generally doesn't need one. Removing an app consists, in almost all cases, of dragging that app's icon to the trash (if you really care you can hunt down the preference files in ~/library, but they take up virtually no space). Windows needs uninstaller programs because Windows programs typically install substantial chunks here, there and everywhere.

In conclusion of this long post- windows have better OS in terms of functionality. ML is too much eye candy and not really all that impressive eye candy as Linux.

Posting this sort of provocative material on an Apple forum might have been worth it ten years ago, or even perhaps five. Given what has transpired since then, it's just sad. Microsoft has been reduced to a vendor of bland, basic software that people buy for no other reason than because its a standard.

You just don't get it. Microsoft is no longer an Apple competitor. Apple doesn't really care about selling operating systems or office software to businesses or price conscious consumers. Apple has virtually eliminated Microsoft from the markets Apple wants to dominate (phones, music, the high end of the consumer market, tablets, etc.).

I teach at a university. The vast majority of the students now own Macs. If they have a tablet, it's almost certainly an iPad. If they have a smartphone it's likely an iPhone, and it if isn't, it will be an Android device. If they have a music player, odds on it's an iPod. I have yet to see a Windows phone on campus.

Microsoft is now more or less irrelevant. Who really cares about the latest train wreck version of Windows other than people who have to? If you feel inclined to purchase Ballmer's latest embarrassing offering, more power to you.

This new OS is much better.Loving it.

Dictation works well - doesn't always catch all the words I say correctly - but I think that's just due to my pronunciation of certain words. :(

Safari rock, finally we can search within the address bar and the pinch to tabs is awesome, too!

I feel Twitter integration is also great - could be better though.

Overall, very happy.

I think you mean "knock on wood."

"Touch wood," implies a different connotation.

I agree, but what happens with "computers for pro users"?
