Judging by the lack of updates of any kind to Match since 2012, I think it will remain isolated from the music service.

I pay for it because I have 23,000 local songs and I need to be able to access them anywhere. But I am actually pretty disappointed with how Apple has ignored Match - it needs a lot of bug fixes in the iTunes department.

I'm hoping this is a sign that they will somehow roll it into Apple Music. Maybe give a longer trial to Match subscribers or something of that sort. I'm strongly inclined to switch to Apple Music depending on what features it has. At the end of the day, it will save me the time of finding a download for the song I want, then adding it into iTunes for the sole purpose of "scanning it" with Match.

Out of curiosity, what precisely is "scrobble," and why is it important?

That's last.fm's definition of "storing which track you listened to" to your profile. Over time, it will list who you listen to most per week, 3m, 6m, 1y, and all time, which tracks, etc. Then you can add people who have the same musical interests as you (it shows a compatibility meter).

Only if there's a $4.99 student pricing option and if they have as excellently curated playlists as Spotify.

That's really the only thing keeping me on Spotify at this point.

I too love spotify as it is the best overall music service I've used. Combine the good quality with offline-music-saving-mode and the $4.99 student pricing, and it's a no brainier for me. I don't think Apple will be able to compete with that, but if they do, I'd happily switch.

Spotify Premium is included in my Vodafone UK service plan. So, no. I will just be hiding the app in my  folder!

I would be interested in trying it out (hopefully there will be a trail period) however if there isn't a feature that let's me save and listen to the music offline then i probably wouldn't, simply because of using my music when travelling.

I'll have to see what Apple is offering. It's going to have to be significant. I'll certainly sign up for any free trial they offer though to check it out.

You should have the option for those that don't care to steam music. If I hear something I like on the radio/YouTube/whatever I buy the full album and it gets added to my phone. I'm not a fan of the streaming thing because at the end of the day I want to be able to access all the songs I like whenever/wherever I want.

Even if they allowed you to make a cache and download songs then I'd question why one wouldn't just buy the album/song you want anyways.

I've tried out all the services on trial and chose Spotify. But I have to say, their mobile navigation is a complete nightmare. tap, tap tap tap tap tap and more taps for every freaking thing. They seriously need some UI people but from what I understand, they can't afford it. Slide out drawers and hidden menus simply don't work for these kinds of apps.

The UI is cleaned up. No icons that are "words" (shuffle, repeat, etc). that damn near fall off the screen. Everything is the appropriate symbols for navigating.

For 3 months Ill sample it.
I cant see spending $180 annually on something I havent desired.
Spend less than $40 annually now adding a few top songs here and there refreshing and revitalizing various playlists. There's just not thaaaat much new interesting music each year.

Artists update to twitter already, free. Gain nothing. Are they really going to have a paywall for a social network?

Streaming iTunes Radio has been acceptable and adequate. Hope the current algorithm based solution doesn't end.

Well I'll definitely do the trial if it comes to the UK. Then may well swap over as I would like an integrated experience vs Spotify. Though my Spotify student membership of £5/month is super sweet.

We'll there's a three month trial. I will make my decision based on my experiences with Apple Music throughout those three months. Currently subscribed to Spotify and iTunes Match.

I wonder if the family pricing is with any 6 people, or if you have to prove you are family?

I'm also staying with local library. Over 16000 tracks, and quite a bit of it is genre-hopping experimental stuff. I've never liked radio, and it doesn't matter whether they choose their playlists by algorithm or personal choice; they're never going where I want to go. I also have a lot of rare, out-of-print items that I've come across over the years; there is no way that any service is going to have those things.

And no, I'm not going to pay for any service that "lets" me upload all my stuff so I can download it again, all for a small fee, with downloads either counting against my data plan, or competing against work-related bandwidth usage.

And while we're at it, get off my lawn!

Yeah I guess I might try it out.
I don't really listen to music and I'm not sure if it will have the songs I would need though.
