I'm planning on it, but I'm still on 8.1 now

Not a fan of how it seems the 8.1.1 untether can't be updated through cydia, at least at this point, because it doesn't show up as an installed package.

Is this really the case?? This would totally be a deal breaker I feel like

Let me know if you notice any difference on Air. My rMini is essentially same hardware.

Also I'd still feel more comfortable to try it if it was confirmed safe, especially while the window is open for if it stinks, I can return to 8.1 Even though it's (taig) not confirmed not safe as of now.

ih8snow tweeted something like "taig is phoning in waayyy to much" whatever that means.

Upgraded already on my 6+ and its working fine for me. My WiFI is stable now! :)

Jailbroken on 8.1 with PanGu - OTA to 8.1.1 possible?

I would probably try the TaiG JB when the Mac version comes out, if there's a way to do an OTA upgrade from 8.1 to 8.1.1. Is there?

If I have to do a full-blown Restore to go from 8.1 to 8.1.1, re-Jailbreak and then re-do all my Cydia/JB setup and whatnot ... ugh. Took me a lot of time to get 3 iDevices stable when I went from 7.1.2 to 8.1, not looking forward to doing that again anytime soon. :(

That said, I'm seeing crappy WiFi performance on certain downloads that I'd love to have working better.

For the wifi, get WiFried.

Yes.
There's no shortcuts.
Restore, jb and install your stuff again.
Or wait for another major iOS release instead.

Ummm duh this new jb was faster than sifting thru the latest Tapa threads lol

My thing was after 8.1.1 apple was so proud to have evad3d pangu's exploits (yeah I do like to be cute sometimes lol) that well I had to be part of it...and if I do have some emergency where apple store does run diagnostics it's an extra bit of satisfaction there! Obviously if possible wouldn't take it in jbkn, but either that or fresh restore imagine it's obvious.

Oh and btw no big issues- Alkaline had a strange vertical bar on the right edge, then also Classic dock fried out & I had to weed it out manually from safe mode. Otherwise Im quite content.

8.1.1 does two things:

- Speeds up iOS 8 for iPhone 4S and iPad 2
- Patches Pangu Jailbreak

Seeing as neither of these apply to me (or I don't want them to apply), it's senseless to update just to re-jailbreak. Plus, that means a DFU restore and re-customizing of settings and re-downloading of tweaks.

On the bright side, I'm glad people who were forced to 8.1.1 now have an avenue to jailbreak, although I'm not sure why they wouldn't wait for 8.2.0 in a few weeks.

We obviously have different experiences with thr DFU process...for me its all strawberry fields...dfu updates forever! Haha seriously tho why not try it while 8.1 is still being signed??

I'm staying on 8.1 because a) Don't trust new jailbreak creators, especially TaiG. This was the same for me with Pangu at first b) 8.1 is actually running really well on my 4s!

i don't trust taig and won't ever use their programs. pangu is suspicious enough to me.

Hahahaha, Pangu is fine and so is TaiG. I would love to hear how they are suspicious.

Again, would love to hear an actual reason as to why they are suspicious, other than "because I said so."

This is the case but they can fix it through a package via BigBoss that registers the untether through dpkg (right now they have that disabled so people don't delete it in Cydia...)

They are suspicious because they are are Chinese, duh. Don't you know Americans are racist towards anyone not American? Amurka baby!

The sad part is this is pretty much the only argument I've heard against them so far. That and 'they have a lot of money' :s

It's because they are Chinese and this is a legal form of hacking. Who knows what Pangu and TaiG could do with control over our devices!

Exactly, because everyone knows American hackers will never steal your data or do anything bad to your device. /sarcasm

But again, there is absolutely no proof or even mere suspicion beyond their nationality that they are doing anything malicious. You're literally only saying these things because they are Chinese. As Dlmart stated above, I'm sure viruses have only ever been created by Chinese developers and never any Americans.

Well at least we know your joking now.
But I think I'm going to update to 8.1.1. WiFried isn't fixing my issues and my battery is draining quick on my 6+.
Any idea if the CommCenter patched ipcc carries over after the update?
This is my first time so I'm curious if I need to do anything.

If they did, American courts would have jurisdiction over them and to the extent anything they did was deceptive, you would have criminal and civil remedies against them that US courts could enforce b/c the US courts would have jurisdiction over them.

Big difference if an American effs with your device vs. a Chinese person residing in China effing with your device.

For the wifi, get WiFried.

As far as I can tell, all WiFried does is do an ifconfig awdl0 down command-line equivalent, which I've already done manually.

OK, I'll bite - I've never done it before, but I've seen people post about having done OTA upgrades of minor dot-dot releases before. Is this not possible because I'm already on a jailbroken 8.1? Or, to put it another way - are the only people who've ever been able to do OTA upgrades people who hadn't jailbroken their iDevice(s)?

(I recall evasi0n7 disabling the OTA update facility in Settings ... and the PanGu folks saying "The firmware upgraded via OTA affects Pangu 8 a lot and usually causes Pangu 8 to fail.", so that's probably not a good omen.)

Please followup here (if you think of it) if going to 8.1.1 fixes the WiFi issue (or either one, for that matter) for you. Thanks.

Are you updating from pangu 8.1 to taig 8.1.1

I might give it a shot today.

Edit: running 8.1.1 jailbroken with no issues so far or random springboard crashes yet. 3rd party keyboard seems to load quicker and not lock up as much. Overall might be just me but iOS seems snappier.

I want to say it feels a little more zippy, but it's hard to say. I run with reduce transparency on fwiw, makes it that much more smooth. No tweak issues on my end. Have not installed Wifried on 8.1.1 and wifi seems to be responding well.

The recent muscle nerd tweets make me feel good.

Hopefully the updating of the untether can be accommodated like Xbox says
