Two quotes that show why I am nervous about Apple Silicone. Like the posters I quoted I don’t know either and Apple isn’t saying what a minimum expectation of performance should be. Better? Worse? The same? All of the above?
When they announced the new iMac Pro it was done at WWDC in June. They showed early versions and gave out performance figures, all 6 months before they were available.
Right now, no one outside of Apple can speak authoritatively on what Apple Silicone can and can’t do compared with its current lineup of Intel based computers, or what features or abilities will be lost because of the change. Silence isn’t golden.
I imagine that we will find out within the next 5-6 weeks.
BTW, it's "silicon" not "silicone". Silicone is a polymer used to make breast implants and sealants. Silicon is a semi-conducting element used in the manufacture of integrated circuits.
