Motor Boat

Shot this past weekend while up north taking my boat out of the water for the winter. I thought about a slightly wider lens, but in the end I like the tight feeling this image presents, along with the slight motion blur of the water and backgroung. I managed to take a few shots, but this was the most pleasing. It wasn't easy shooting and driving, good thing there were no other boats on the lake.

Nice photos Abstract, I really like the Cog one. Well done capturing the motion.

Sorry I only got to mention it now, but I think that is a wicked motion shot Serpent. The sparks have a very fractal-like pattern to them. Great capture.

Took this earlier today - cropped and altered the saturation using Aperture.

Not to be too nit-picky, but...there is no such thing as a Nikon 200D. There is, however, a Nikon D200.

Canon puts the number first and then the letter, such as "10D, 20D, 30D...." Nikon does it the other way around: D50, D80, D100, D200, etc.....

Well spotted, I have just changed it.

I was "stalking" this butterfly, trying to get a takeoff shot, but forgot to set my shutter speed to a faster setting. (that, and I tripped over a root as I released the shutter.)

Gee, that is a really interesting shot! I like it...

Connie, another beautiful shot, but there seems to be a focusing problem. Or am I wrong?

I wondered if anyone would comment on the very narrow focus and depth-of-field.... !! Yes, I was shooting with the 70-180 macro upward into the leaves and with a macro lens the closer you get to the subject the more that affects the plane of focus and depth-of-field; as a result, there is very little in focus with this image, maybe a tiny little section of the leaf. I didn't have a lot of success that day. I liked the colors and the fact that it represents "transformation" so posted it anyway.... :) It definitely is not one of my finer efforts and won't ever wind up in my portfolio! :D

Pyromania!

Every night, every hour on the hour, after dusk, on the south bank of the Yarra River, eight towers belch large gas flames. A very impressive sight, as they transform natural gas into water, carbon dioxide, and other trace substances.

Burn, baby, burn! Muahahahahahaha!
