Boo hiss.... My MP7,1 was held up in Louisville, KY for around 26 hours before moving hopefully toward my doorstep.... maybe one of its wheels fell off. ... MP7,1 please go/come home.
OK... my MP7,1 is now in Seattle as of 4:37 PM. So it would seem my delivery for tomorrow PM should be real..... so long as it doesn't snow or roads being flooded with the forecasted heavy rain/snow. It may sound weird, but I'm looking forward to seeing the wheeled MP7,1 option compared to the 4-legged model.???❄

When my MP7,1 finally arrives at my doorstep it will have some 3,600 miles on it already, and this is more miles than on my car. ;)

Got a Tracking Number - UPS 2nd Day Air.

Lou
Yea... I also got a 2nd day UPS delivery estimate. However, the MP7,1 shipped out on 1/30 and the delivery is for 2/4. Yes, there's a weekend in this time frame but the open business days including the delivery day comes to 4. In my mind it should have been delivered today Feb 3, and at one time this was shown as the scheduled delivery by UPS, but then quickly changed to Feb 4. No matter, it's been quick enough for me and of course is free shipping.

Mine is now "Loaded on Delivery Vehicle & Out for Delivery". ?

Gosh...At 9:49 A.M. I just heard a slight van noise, so went to front door and there was this large heavy box. The delivery UPS man was nowhere to be seen. My front door bell was not use. I was not requested to sign for the delivery. This is absolutely amazing and quite disturbing as this box contents amounts to several 1000s of dollars.

I examined the box after I moved it into the house carefully and by and large, apart from a few scuff marks and a slight dent in two of the box corners, it seemed to be intact. Of course, there's no telling how carefully the box had been handled in its 3,600 miles of travel to my door step.

Will unpack it and check things out.

I must admit, I was expecting a more personal delivery experience.

That box condition is disgraceful..... ?
I would send the pictures to Apple CS as a record, maybe they will give the couriers a kick.
Crazy you didn’t sign for it, as far as anyone knows you havn’t received it (another reason to let Apple know this is going on).

We didn't have to sign for it either, but that's non uncommon for UPS shipments in our neighborhood, even when signature is supposed to be required. I'm guessing they have some discretion based on the house, or have flagged some neighborhoods as low risk. Regarding the box, did the inner box look ok? That inner box and packaging is very sturdy.

I attach some more images of the outer box and the inner box. Although the dents, scuff marks on the outer box look disgraceful, the inner box looks like it did protect things quite well.

Two more images.... I have it powered up and am upgrading it from Catalina 10.15.2 to 10.15.3. As it's performing the upgrade the power use is hovering around 133 watts.

The KB and Mouse connection was easily established to begin with and have it on my home Wi-Fi network at this time.

My MP7,1 16-core, 1TB, 32GB (stock), Afterburner and Radeon Pro Vega II is connected to my 65" LG OLED TV at this time. The TV display is 'dark' mode look awesome.

I did not setup my Apple ID and have removed all non essential dock items I have no need for. I also abandoned all configurations related to send data to Apple and do not want Location services nor Siri, so they are abandoned as well.

The wheels are great and can wheel this beastie about with ease as I please.

I'm deciding on what to name this MP7,1.... maybe I'll select one of the river names in my PNW area. :)

So far so good..... no issues and the 10.15.3 update is now completed.

Now onto performing the 'torture' testing using Prime95 going full blast for a few days. I will just have to be patient for this testing to proceed as I have some nice goodies to add to this MP7,1 just waiting to get into action.

My pulse rate and blood pressure are at a reasonable level at this time. ;)?❄ ...and just as well the UPS delivered early for me as it's now snowing as was forecasted.❄❄❄

The Prime95 'torture' test is now underway using just about 99.5% CPU, all of the 32 GB RAM, all cores/threads in use, with the Power consumption sitting at around 395 watts, and no sound being heard, warm air flowing out the top area backside and cool air being drawn in at front and the two backside vertical vents.

I took sound measurements 6" from front face of the MP7,1.

I couldn't resist installing my Sonnet/Samsung (1x 2TB, 3x 1TB 970 EVO Plus blades) setup as...

  • Forgot to check the Samsung blade Firmware revisions initially but have not had any problems using them out of the box. Can the Firmware revision be displayed even after formatting the 970 EVO Plus blades to HFS+ ? The correct Firmware revision should be 2B2QEXM7. I'm hoping they have this Firmware version already as I purchased them directly from Samsung.
  • I Split the 2TB blade into 2: 1TB for internal 1TB SSD backup using CCC and the other for the RAID-0
  • 4x 1TB RAID-0 setup with Disk Utility (Gosh... it runs fast... see attached image)

They must have lubed the wheels.

Oh... you mean boring disk speeds. Carry on.

Damn, I want those wheels. They're so chromed and beautiful. I don't care if I would have to have waited 1 1/2 months longer to get my order, worth it.
Yea.... those i/o rates are boringly awesome.... ;)

The grated tower is super nice looking, and the fancy wheels are not only practical for me, but really do sparkle, shows off beauty & excellence, and compliments the overall style/looks of the machine. You really do have to marvel at the industrial design that went into making this new 2019 MP7,1. ?

Did you all order directly at the apple online store. In Germany we have some retailers which offers a ~400€ discount to the apple prices.

I ordered from USA using my business account EPP program via Apple's Online Store. This gave me a 6% discount.
