Ya this is’nt a big release for sure and it’ll be interesting to see how Apple spins it because they’re used to big release day numbers. Most of the time if you wait 4 days to order you’d be outta luck. The S models always lack in release day numbers but I have a feeling this years will be exceptional. People are satisfied with their current X models and some are waiting for the Xr I’m sure. Along with that the release of iOS 12 has brought amazing new life to phones as old as the iPhone 5’s.
I was so curious, I had to ask, so I called my friend at AT&T, and I was told that the gold XS is apparently the least popular phone, but the XS big phone is moving well. So, go figure. When everyone wanted a jet black phone, I ordered a jet black phone and waited. I just happened to pick a gold phone because I was bored with black phones and got lucky.

I got burned with the 7+ and decided to never order from Apple again. AT&T did well last year and everything is on schedule so far this year. Even the Best Buy crew that ordered today are picking up tomorrow!
I went to Apple first, and got a Sept 30th date. Ordered from AT&T and my phone comes tomorrow.

Color preference is always hard to predict, peoples tastes change all the time.
My parents were Yamaha dealers, Yamaha would make a new Red color option, and a Purple option. crapshoot on which color was the desired. Next year if say Purple was the most desired color the year before.. Yamaha would make more Purple, and it wouldn't sell... Red would.
Gamble, and most times it didn't pay off.
Thats why you see Yamaha always makes a Blue (yellow/black in special ed) Honda always makes Red, and so on. They make other colors in hopes that will be the "in" color that year.
Apple had a hit with Gold once, they want it to be the top color every year now.. It will be space grey, or silver for the majority of us. People would rather just get the iPhone and "change" the color with a case or wrap to what suits them that day/week/month. Special/new colors are nice to see, but it's all a gamble to see if it will be a hit.

I always wanted a black/space grey iPhone with the gold around the old home button etc.

I don’t have an answer on the Apple store, but wanted to thank you for the idea to check Best Buy overnight tonight. I ordered an Apple Watch from AT&T that was supposed to be delivered tomorrow; however, they waited until 2:05 a.m. Central to email that it is delayed until October. Good ol' AT&T. Best Buy had the watch I wanted, and I think I got the last one at my store, so thank you! I hope you’re able to find what you want, too. Happy Apple Day!

ETA: sorry you couldn’t get your card to work. So frustrating!

Im in CA - phone left TX yesterday, then went to IN...and barely left IN at 4:08am  Still shows delivery of today, but no action since...I don’t live in a big city, no airport near by, so don’t know how that’ll happen.

Anyone else’s phone have a transit pattern that doesn’t make sense?

I have a strange issue where the phone is right near me, at the FedEx location, sitting, and it's showing "
No scheduled delivery date available at this time.
Scheduled delivery:
Pending"

Anyone else see this?

EDIT: Fixed, and on truck

I haven’t seen that but I wouldn’t worry. They rushed it there for a reason.

Happy iPhone Day everyone!!!!

This is my very first time getting a phone on release day and my first time ordering with ATT. Apple.com preorders always disappointed so I made the switch. I think there are also other factors that play into this:

1. Its an S release, so not as much hype (this is my first S phone)

2. I usually go for what happens to be the most popular configuration (Black/SG in the biggest size) and went for Gold 512 this time. Gold isnt the most popular color and lots of people think 512 is too much memory.

The lack of updates suck, but Im thinking ATT is the way to go. Im curious if Ill get release day for the next big non-S release or redesign. Seems likely!

My phone is at the sort facility in Queens now, cant wait to see that gorgeous thing :).

Hey guys, does your shipping address appear anywhere? For me only the city and state appear on the Fedex page and att.com order pages doesn't show my shipping address.

We have a friend who works at UPS, I asked him about this - he put it this way, many workers are clueless about busy days - but they have a complex management system that based on incoming traffic calculates and spits out resource needs for supervisors in advance and they do overtime or add extra shifts or system shows how many extra delivery vehicles needed. And with Amazon booming its a norm now. They like it because there is more work.

Thanks. It's interesting that Amazon is building their own delivery service now... to reduce reliance on UPS

Right, PrimeAir and PrimeGround....should be interesting, they do have resources to build up their own infrastructure which is good. Why not take everything internal that they can track and monitor and avoid he/she said moments.
