Picked up new iPad Pro’s for my wife and myself on AT&T Next. The sales guy offered us a $20 a month unlimited standalone data plan on our same 6 gig iPhone account without adjusting the iPhone 6 gig plan. He said that they just started offering this last week. It made sense for us because we have enough lines making the unlimited for all a bad option. Not sure if anyone knew about this or even cares, but wanted to pass it along.

What's the catch?

I don't see how they can offer unlimited for $20 given the potentially higher data usage on the iPad. Personally, I use ~1-2GB data on the iPhone and ~10GB on the iPad and that's with very limited video streaming (just a few YouTube clips).

Yeah Im curious about it. You say adding a standalone data plan on the same iPhone account, but so does it require you to have an AT&T phone plan? No DirectTV requirement either?

$20 is too close to the more affordable competitors, which makes me very skeptical... But if its legit, Id love to get it!

Unfortunately I havent seen anything on their website:

So it sounds to me like you need to have an account with AT&T to get this deal.

I'm not sure. The plan I have for the iPad is called "AT&T Unlimited iPad 4G LTE " according to my online AT&T account. I have attached a screencap from my account page (covered my personal info though).

I am pretty sure that you will need to have an existing account with AT&T for this deal, unless it is some new promotion.

That may explain it. I do have AT&T for our iPhones and having the unlimited plan may require that the subscriber be an existing AT&T customer. This iPad plan is separate from the 6GB plan for our iPhones and shows up that way in our AT&T account.

I, too, am interested in this. If you have to have service or another line of some sorts with them, I’ll pass. Keep me and all of us informed.

I have not found any info on this, at least on the web site. I would love to transfer my $10 iPad line to $20 unlimited, but keep the others on the original bucket plan.

I changed my iPad plan to this one a few days ago. Unlimited (22GB) LTE service with 10GB WiFi hot spot for $20.00. I don't see it advertised on their website. I had to call about something else and got into a conversation about plans. I though the person I spoke with was wrong. I'm very happy with this.

Nice. Might switch to this. Only downside for me is I sometimes need ~15GB+ for hotspot. Granted, as long as there's a power source, I could always use the iPhone on the tiered plans for hotspot in case I use up the hotspot allotment on the iPad.

FYI, I had this $20/mo plan on my wife's iPad for about a week. Since she doesn't use much data we decided to cancel it. When I called them up to cancel a few days ago, they offered me another unadvertised special to try and prevent me from dropping the line. 1GB for 5 months for $5/mo. That's actually not bad if you want some minor web surfing sporadically and access to iMessage and eMail.

I might be wrong about this but I recall the rep telling me I’d receive a $5 discount for 15-20 months so the price is $15.00. My statement closes I’m a few days so I’ll check then.

Does anyone know if the $20 iPad plan is capped with sd video and the throttled speed (forget what it was, 3mps) like the choice plan, or is it the full speed until the 22gb limit?

I don't think the choice plan had the hotspot, so it may be equivalent to the full speed plan.
[doublepost=1508608205][/doublepost]I just called and talked to the retention department. They searched the system and could not find the stand alone plan at all, just a $20 access fee on top of the full cost of the unlimited plan.

Hopefully others have more luck.

I got mine by being transferred to the retention department. I had an issue when I got my LTE Apple Watch. The rep gave me the incorrect info which prompted me to give up my grandfathered UDP for my iPhone. Long story short, I got it all back minus 2000 roll over minutes. So I called to take care of that. The first person couldn't help so I asked for a supervisor. She ended up transferring me to the retention dept. The $20 plan came up doing the conversation. I did a speed test while I was out today. It's definitely LTE speeds and the hot spot works fine.

When I pop in an AT&T sim card I get the option of "unlimited" data for $29 a month with throttling after 22gb. Doesn't say if I can use the mobile hot spot capability of the ipad. Does anyone know? I know that Net on the Run (which uses T Mobile network) has an "unlimited" data plan for $45 a month with throttling after 50gb. Anyone use it?

I just receive my new bill.

AT&T Unlimited iPad 4G LTE $20.00

Of course there are fees and taxes added to that.

I'm going to watch my data usage and maybe a week before the cycle is over I'll increase usage to try to get it over 22GB to see if I'm throttled. It probably won't happen but I'll try it out. I'll be taking a road trip around that time so I'll let the kids watch movies while we're out.

This plan provides a 10GB LTE hotspot. How do I monitor how much hotspot data is used?

After 3 calls to customer service, I got this plan added to my account. The rep originally offered my a 10 dollar a month unlimited plan but it turned out to be just the 10 dollar add on for my existing Mobile share plan. When I called back in the third time, the rep setup a new line that is separate from my mobile share plan that shows unlimited data. In addition my hot spot is working on my iPad.

I wish we knew the correct code to give to AT&T so the representatives we talk to could easily find it in their system. When I called a couple weeks ago, the rep searched and searched but couldn't find it.

I was able to bump up my Mobile Share Value plan to a shared 20 gigs, which will work for me for now.

I called retentions again, and got my iPad broken out into it's own plan, the person I talked to was very familiar with the new plan. The only hangup was removing the iPad data Canada bonus 1gb I had, but I think canada roaming is included in this new plan anyway.

Can you tell what kind of international roaming options does this plan have? E.g. $10/day unlimited data? Thanks.

I have this plan and noted that I have just lost the hotspot capability that I have had on this plan. Has anyone else noticed this?

Yes, the same thing happened to me. I’ve called AT&T a few times. It was supposed to be fixed by yesterday but not yet. I’m going to call again tomorrow.
