4G/LTE Issue

Phone Model: iPhone 6 Plus

So I'm having a weirder issue. When my phone is on LTE the speeds are normal, but for some reason the phone keeps going back to being on 4G even though I'm in great LTE area. I know this by testing it with my 5S, LTE signal all the time.

Also some additional troubleshooting...

While the phone was on 4G (in an area that has amazing LTE signal), I flipped airplane mode on/off, LTE pops up. Speed test = about 20mbps, then literally 3 minutes later it goes back to 4G/ Speed test = about 3mbps...

I will call ATT today to try a reprovision of the data plan...

I'm having the same issue. Getting less than 1MB down and up over cellular. I'm also getting terrible wifi speeds too on this iPhone 6+.

Same here for both 6 and 6+.. getting 1-4Mbps down and up if I'm lucky. Been this way since I got the iPhone 6's... What's up with that?

You're lucky to be getting 1-4 mb. I'm getting less than 0.5mb. This is frustrating. Brand new 6+ and it's basically useless.

Try resetting network settings. Did that and helped a bit but still not where it should be. Now getting around 15 down and 2-4 up.

I am getting .5mbs on a Verizion iPhone 6 on AT&T, but I have a feeling its due throttling my unlimited data, and not an LTE issue.

If I was getting .5mbs on LTE and I was within my data cap I would stay on the phone with an AT&T tech until it was fixed.

I seriously would call att, waist their time for a bad policy if that is what it is. Maybe get a credit for lack of functional data.

That's not going to happen.
They won't give you credit for getting throttled. They'll just tell you to switch your data plan.

I can understand if you used a lot, but if you are starting out with no data usage yet, that's a problem. I need to check now that i have LTE if I can find an area with coverage.

----------

Testing where I live with two bars: 100ms ping / 6.5 down/ 1 up. Tests good, works poorly.

Mine finally resolved itself. Don't know why, I just kept playing around with network settings over the last few days, and it's like it flipped a switch earlier today. It's not near the highest, but I live in an urban area with a lot of iPhone/android users on AT&T, so I'm good with it.

Yes. If you're under the 5gb amount then you shouldnt have slow speeds.

My guess is its a carrier issue? network reset did work for me somewhat, up speeds are still for crap though.. and sometimes it works great other times not so much.

Iphone6 Speeds (non throttled user)

So I'm on the Iphone6 with AT&T. My plan is not the unlimited plan (1gb - just upgraded from 300mb - which AT&T says i'm not throttled).

My question is what speeds should I be expecting under 4g and/or LTE.

AT&T tells me 5-10MB. But that seems too low for such a newer device and technology.

Thoughts???

. I'm curious to find out what is the actual issue on their end for a lot of people experiencing the same speed/issue on ATT as Verizon users don't seem to be having this problem with their new upgrades.

I'm on Verizon and my wife and I are both having similar issues. Endless dropped calls and really lousy lte speeds. Especially in and around our house. I had an iPhone 5 before and had WAY better performance.

I just dis a test on my 6+ ATT
Download Upload Ping
Wifi on: 12.25 5.73 21
LTE on: 19.18 9.90 79
4G on: 4.85 0.86 105

Wifi was full bar and LTE and 4G I had 3 bars

I am also getting extremely slow data load rates, to the point where I am about to just go back to my iPhone 5 and evaluate switching carriers or getting a different type of phone. My 5 got speeds at my desk of 7-12Mbps, and now I can't even break 1...typically it has been .2-.8. This is ridiculous. I read here about resetting the network settings, and have done that 3 times now, testing after each one, and I still get slow speeds...latest one is .87Mbps according to speedtest. Has anyone tried to get their phone 'reprovisioned'?

Hi everyone, so we are experiencing slow LTE speeds as well, both 6 pluses, even after a new billing cycle. We have tried testing our speeds in different places that we know for sure we had much much faster speeds with our old iPhones. We have tried resetting our network settings, turning our iPhones off/on, an toggling WiFi/LTE/4G and none have worked. I also checked our plan and it’s unchanged; I still have the grandfathered unlimited plan and the other on my family plan still has his plan, unchanged. Chatted with AT&T did some resets asking our IMEI and SIM #'s, nothing worked. So I’m not sure what the problem is. Any suggestions?

My speeds are still much slower at my house compared to my old phone but I can manage to get 20+Mbps around town. I guess I am just learning to deal with it.

I am also having the same LTE issues here in Florida with AT&T. Spoke with Apple and did every test possible, they have even given a new 6 plus already. Has anyone heard of a fix yet?

Well, we are going to stop by AT&T this weekend to trade in our old iPhone and might as well have them look at why the speed has been terrible. I've read somewhere that some iPhone 6/pluses have been shipped with bad SIM cards. Is this true? Do you think a swap of SIM cards will help? Also, I've alwasy wondered why they ship new iPhones with new SIM's every time? Wouldn't it be easier if the user could simply transfer the old SIM into the new phone?

Now thatI'm on the 40GB plan, I almost wish LTE was slower. Not SLOW by 3G standards of course, but 5-10Mbps is FINE for literally everything I do, including high quality streamining of Hulu/Netflix.

If I could limit to those speeds, I'd basically have unlimited data.

It's not an issue really, as even with buffering at high speeds 40GB will still last me fine, but it'd be cool to never even have to think about it.

What is everyone using these outrageous LTE speeds for? Showing off?

Outside of downloading large files (which is pretty rare), or tethering, I don't think I'd have much use for anything beyond 5Mbps. As a comparison, once unlimited would throttle me, I could stream with .5Mbps, so 10 times that really does scream =).

What's everyone using 20-30-40Mbps LTE for?

I work remote support for a Technology company. Sometimes I need to remote into clients and all I have is my phone.

Regardless, if I was getting 20+Mbps on my iPhone 5 I should be getting it on my iPhone 6 as well. It's like upgrading from a Smart Car to a Lamborghini but you find out the Lamborghini will only go 20MPH. You would just know something was not right :p

This is will full Wifi and 5 bars with LTE/4G

And this is what bugs me as well, we both had great speeds with both lines on our iPhone 5s, and now its crap like barely 3 down and 1 up all day every day. We are paying for this fast LTE service. AT&T CS has been good though, they have tried re-provisioning many times, checked network outages etc.. so they suggested we go to an AT&T store which is fine and switch out the SIMs as a last resort. My assumption is either the towers are down or clogged.

I'm curious myself as to how some people are getting 100-300 Mbps down and up? I've heard of aggregation but I've friends all over ubern places in the east and west coast most are having issues with speeds like we are (they are AT&T). Do you think the SIM is really the issue here and/or software?

Hmmm, do you think some of our iPhones 6/pluses are not being toggled correctly 4g to LTE? Maybe this is why we are getting slow LTE speeds? Seems to be just AT&T having this problem.
