No regrets at all with my 16gb WiFi version.

In my thinking, this technology is moving so fast that any investment beyond the cost/benefit price point (16gb for me) will be diminished quickly by the next generation. $499 is already overpriced as it is. Let everyone else shelling out $600-800 make Apple's profit projections.

I have one additional question. Many forums have a mouse over preview of a topic (not this one). How does the iPad deal with that? Or is that something I have to give up?

Unfortunately, at this time it doesn't. Not surprising as there is no 'pointer' like you have on a regular computer. Some sites have coded in special methods of handling this when the user is on a touch-based device, but that is still quite rare.

Well I just got my 16GB yesterday and already have all the apps/music/videos/photos that I can think of already on the device but still have 11.7 GB left. Im still waiting though for some iTunes money so i can get like keynote and pages. Here's all that I have now though and I still have 11.7 GB open

Music- 129
Apps- 28
Video- 5
Photos- 131

Mine arrived Friday and I've been very happy with it! 16GB version. 0.8GB Free

6GB music
6GB music
1GB apps
Other/Photos make up rest

It depends what you want to use it for. If it's mostly just for home browsing the 16 gb wifi is fine. But if you plan to use it a lot for travel, I think more storage and 3G is absolutely essential. Otherwise you should just get a laptop.

I have a 32GB wifi only and I can still see myself with only 16GB. Like others said, it depends on what you're going to do with your iPad. Lots of web surfing, YouTube watching will be fine and you can still get a lot of content and entertainment with 16GB IMO.

Unless you're a person that absolutely NEEDS all their library with them, I don't see why you'd have some remorse.

This thing rules regardless of memory.

As soon as my student loan comes through, I'm getting an iPad. However, I'm not sure if I should get the 32GB or 64GB...? I have a 16GB iPod nano and i have about 9GBs of music on there. However, I'm not sure if I'd put music on my iPad. I do have a lot of apps from back when I had an iPod touch.

I always want the best of the best  I think I'm going to force myself to just buy the 32GB iPad.

Nope

No regrets. I bought this one to get my feet wet before iPad 2 came out and love it. I have a ton of apps and there is still 14-gigs of room left. No interest in paying someone for 3G access when wifi works just fine.

I have the 16 GB WIFI version and I'm not sorry at all that I didn't go bigger. I have about 1400 songs and my storage is running a little low, but if I need more space I'll just take the music off. I only use it for web browsing, netflix, e-mail, etc.

With you having MyWi I don't see a reason to get a 3G one.

Even though I just got my wifi iPad yesterday, I don't regret it at all. I probably won't put any music on it, just apps and a few movies for when I travel. So I certainly do not think memory will be an issue with me.

My old laptop just croaked which I only used for web surfing and slingbox watching.

I think I can replace it with an iPad. However, funds are tight so I'd like to get a 16gb wifi, maybe even a refurb.

I also have a 9" Asus netbook and a desktop. The screen on the netbook is lacking though. A little too small and poor viewing angle. I like the ipad because the screen looks great to me, no wait time to boot and loong battery life.

I plan to use the ipad for web surfing, netflix, slingbox and a few apps/games while on the couch and around the house. If I need to take it outside, I'll use Mywi on my iphone.

So the question for you is: Do you regret going with only 16gb? Why?

Thanks!

PS: Should I consider any other devices? Price range has to be $500 or less.

My only regret was not getting the 3G. I use it for work and it's far more useful than I imagined.

If funds are tight, the base level will treat you well. Work ebay and be patient. I found mine for $500 including apple case and docking keyboard.

And realize a better iPad will be coming soon, so don't overpay. Supply has leveled off and when the new iPad is announced, the current one will go even cheaper.

Not that you should wait necessarily, but take it in consideration

I've had mine since the day it came out. I have not even come close to filling it up.
I just tether it off m Iphone, so no need for another 3G data plan.
I mostly use it to browse the internet, check email, and netflix, youtube, etc.
I have about a dozen games on it.
No music.

never had any regrets about purchasing the 16. Will hold out for gen 3, cause I need more features then just a facetime camera. I honestly have never used the facetime camera on the iphone 4. Maybe once it becomes better integrated, uses ichat, googlechat, etc, then I will use ti more. But right now it's too restrictive.

Once my MacBook sells I'm going to pick up an iPad. I had one pre-ordered (16gb 3G) when they were first announced, but got cold feet and canceled.

I think I may just get one of the refurbished 16gb wifi ones now... Not sure if the extra money would be worth it to only use the 3G once or twice a year.

This is my intended use.

I assume a jailbreak on both devices is the only way to tether?

My only regrets are:

Not getting the 3g model
Showing my kids how to use it
Letting my wife take it to work tonight

After having an iPad I doubt we will ever buy another laptop.

No! The only device that needs to be jailbroken is the iphone.

I downloaded a tethering app off of cydia for the iPad as well. I prefer using bluetooth tethering, rather then wifi. It helps with thr battery life on both devices.

Looks like I just sold my MacBook. Time to finally pick up an iPad. I'm set on getting the 16gb version, but unsure on 3G or not. I don't plan on using the 3G service monthly, maybe only 1 or 2 times a year...

If you anticipate that you may want to use the 3g service at all, you'd better get a model with 3g. I haven't activated mine yet either (still tethering through my iPhone), but I knew there might well come a time when I wanted service on it for a few weeks, and it would be well worth the cost. You should also make up at least some of the price difference at resale.

I was finally able to pick up my iPad today. I ended up getting the 16gb 3G version. I figured that 1 or 2 times a year when I would want or need 3G was worth the extra cost. Like you said if I sell it I should be able to recoupe the difference.

So far I am loving it. Then again haven't even used it for 2 hours yet.

Depends on what you use to tether. If you're using MyWi as a wifi hotspot on the phone, the iPad doesn't need to be JB'd. If you want to tether via Bluetooth, you'll need to JB both devices.

Another 16 GB wifi only here, no regrets. The common theme seems to be if you're not heavy into movies or loading it up with a ton of music, the extra storage space is a waste of money. I've still got about 6 GB free, and will have more once I archive last couple of events' worth of pics I've been editing in Filterstorm. Don't watch movies, and I use the iPhone for my music.
