but....HOW do you get your files small enough to upload? I captured the screen with grab, exported it as a jpeg via preview, and it's still above the 100kb limit! am I missing something obvious???

Once you set it to jpeg, hit the options button and select a lower quality, or put in the desired size and check the box.

Ups stupid.
I read the last page of the thread and came across the part where somebody explained how you could change your icons.
I tried it out played around a little, it was fun.

But what do I have to do to recover my old mac icons?

I think that pic only looks blurry (beyond what it is supposed to for the "messege" of the wallaper) because the jpg is compresed A LOT.
