Coming from a DLC space black stainless steel trying to decide between the jet black aluminum and ion x glass vs the slate gray titanium with sapphire crystal.

Will I be disappointed in the aluminum and lower quality glass?

S9 and S10 are extremely likely exact same chips.
Reminder : S6, S7 and S8 were exact same previously.
From a marketing perspective, they could have renamed it Ultra 3 with all-new S10 but it's kind of dishonest and maybe could backfire later once tech reviewers demonstrates that S9 = S10 which means Ultra 2 = Ultra 3.

Plus, given that Ultra watch targets more of a "niche" demography having an upgrade every 2 years is not necessarily dumb.

I am surprised that many people here are complaining about Ultra 2 still on S9. Don't be fooled by chip names, do your research first

my S0 and S3, both Ion, scratched very easily ... my S4 SBSS, S7Ti, Ultra - no scratches

They're not. S6, S7, and S8 have different SIPs. The CPU is the same but the SIP is different.

Ultra 2 last year wasn’t even a new product though, gestures + brighter screen (real world unnoticeable) + too dim a screen in low light.
well it was, had the S9 vs S8 chip ... My Ultra 1 lasted ~ 25-30% battery life vs my Ultra 2 ~ 40-45% with same usage/charging pattern. And Ultra 2 is significantly faster booting/ugrading

I don’t either. No clumsy. But my wrist smacks things. My series 4 looks pristine. The DLC is bulletproof. Shame they discontinued it.
yep, my SBSS S4 was pristine thanks to the DLC ... the glass is what would prevent me from the alu models

Thanks for the info. Looks like I will go slate even though I like the jet black. Or get a. Ultra 2 in black.

Watches were a disappointment this year, was looking forward to an Ultra 3 but just don’t see the benefit of upgrading from the Ultra 1. Was tempted with the black but would rather wait for a proper update and I don’t think the natural finish bands will work with it.

My thoughts, interested to hear others:
Basically same design, thinner - good
New SiP 10 - good
No new health sensors - bad/disapponted
Jet black - love
Polished Ti - like it but also think SS is a watch classic and disappointed to see it go
Sleep apnea - great, uses accelerometer and also coming to S9/ultra2
Hypertension - disappointed that it’s not there

Ultra - love the black, but, it’s an Ultra2 (two) and doesn’t even have the S10 chip - major letdown

And for both, no mention of blood oxygen - very disappointed

Edit: title typos fixed
I’m going to upgrade from the Ultra 1.
It was far too bulky and I’m looking forward to the thinner, more elegant design.
Pre ordered one in Natural Titanium like the 16 Pro I’m going to order.

Nice! That Natural Titanium is really tempting me as well instead of the Aluminum.
Coming from a S5

I’ll stick with my Ultra 1, I didn’t upgrade to the Ultra 2 last year (didn’t feel like it was enough reason for me to personally speaking) so I’ll hold on to this one another year and probably upgrade when Ultra 3 comes about.

If you can wait, I’d go to a store and check out the colors.
When I got my S7 Ti to replace my SBSS S4 I didn’t like the graphite SS, and, in hindsight I should have fire. The SB Ti but the store didn’t have any for me to compare

In your opinion is the Ultra 2 a step down from the S10. Part of me says it is beefier but sleek in the new black, especially since Apple finally debuted a metal band for it and I could order it and if I don’t like it return and get the Stainless.
