Coming from a DLC space black stainless steel trying to decide between the jet black aluminum and ion x glass vs the slate gray titanium with sapphire crystal.

Will I be disappointed in the aluminum and lower quality glass?
If you asked me, I’d strongly recommend a watch with sapphire crystal glass. Wore my stainless stell Series 4 for 6 years practically without visible scratches. Planning to upgrade to series 10 titanium now, sapphire being one of the main reasons to choose the higher end version again. Looking at the totally scratched displays of my friends/family Apple Watches just confirms that sapphire was the right choice. Have fun with your new watch!!

As the hours have passed and I've been looking at everything carefully and making comparisons between differents gens since Series 4 (include)... I'm very clear that the Series 10 is a worthy step forward.

From the Series 4 onwards, the two worst generations by far have been the Series 8 and 9.

The Series 5 only had one big new feature, but it was a huge one: AOD for the first time on an Apple Watch.

Yup I have a Series 4 aluminum base model, and the scratches I’ve accumulated over the years… I wouldn’t want happening again on my next Watch. Will be Sapphire glass whenever I upgrade next (Ultra 3?).

I was excited to upgrade to the Ultra 3. I have the Ultra 1 now, but I’m going to wait until next year when the Ultra actually gets some significant changes.
This ^^^^^

I started out with a Series 1, Gen. 2. Upgraded to the Watch SE Gen. 1. I use my Watch so much that I think I want to pop for an Ultra, but I'm going to hold out for the Ultra 3 in hopes that, as they did with the S10, it's a bit thinner.

A smaller Ultra option might have been a nice release as so many people snub the current Ultra's because they are very big on the wrist if you're an average or small person.
My only concern is the thickness. Even my Watch SE sometimes interferes with long sleeves, jacket/coat sleeves, etc.

I just wonder why didn’t they make the design more boxy? So it would be in line with current iPhones. Is the design too iconic? They could have also release boxy version and leave current model as ‘Classic’ model. Could boost sales.

After much thinking I just decided to order the ultra 2… in natural titanium.
I am not convinced by the updates to the series 10, even if really tempting I cannot go over the fact that it just look like my 5 years old series 5 and is still missing features I was envious of the ultra watches like the battery life and the action button.

The reason I went with the natural titanium color is simply because the black look more « cheap » and was harder to match with the bands color, and cloth I usually wear.

I would not order from Apple as I am sure that other retailers have discounts…

Best Buy will give you $300 trade in.

Only for the WiFi Midnight aluminum model and that appears to be an error since they elsewhere say up to $200 for S9

S9 Stainless Steel gets $180

I actually looked around and other retailers upped their prices again and are for the most part out of stock.. At least I got some trade-in from Apple that I wasn't expecting for an old watch.
Also a bummer but you can only buy the old color with the new bands, which mean that I have to wait for the 20th anyway :(

Ordered this exact S10 in 46mm… same band ….

Was very underwhelmed by the bands on offer this time around

However I do like the black Ocean Band from the Ultra 2

Apple website is a little ambiguous on the subject of fit however, on one hand it says the Ocean band is made for 49mm only…. then if you click on the sizing details it does say it will fit 44mm/45mm//46mm and 49mm models but never actually states an AW model… confusing and how can it both scenarios?

My feeling is that it should fit and work just fine…. but if anyone has anecdotal evidence that the ocean band worked with the 45mm S9 okay that would be good to hear…

Also 6-7weeks wait for the black ocean band in my territory… the other two colours are available Sept 20th… so I guess a lot of folks want a black ocean band for their AW/AW2 etc…

Did you check Amazon? Seems some combos with old bands are $100+ off…

I own a SS serie 7 black with Milanese loop but I want to upgrade. I’ve never liked the ultra because of the color but black is stunning.

Do the flat screen looks wider/larger/brighter than the other curved screens?

I’ve never loved the big bezel of my series 7, the ultra looks much more spacious even if the 10 has the same screen size.

Any thoughts? Thank you in advance
I have S7 titanium and the Ultra 2. The metal and black bezels feel bigger on the Ultra than the S7. The S10 has BIGGER black bezels and smaller metal than the S7. That is a step back in my opinion. My S7 has 100% battery and AC+ and is a good, slimmer, dressier companion to the Ultra 2.

If I were you, I would get the black Ultra 2 if you like that and keep your SS 7 for when you want a sleeker/smaller watch. The Ultra 2 will feel sooo different and the insane battery life, dual GPS, more nits, along with all and more that comes with the S10 makes it an easy decision. I would not get the S10 if I were you.

Hi and thank you so much for your response. I remember your posts from last year 🙂 if I'm not mistaken you found a silver Series 7 on eBay in great condition. Stunning!

I'm not really sure what to expect from the Ultra; I love my glossy black stainless steel but honestly, I'm a bit tired of it after 3 years.

I love the matte black color, but I'm a little concerned about the size.

Talking about the bezels: you mean this?

1726122125532.png

Are the bezels of the Ultra annoying, or do they fade into the background given the flat and large screen?

I ordered it just for a change, but in any case, I won’t sell my current Series 7.

I also hope that the ultra has the same mic/speaker as the 10 series that have been improved.

Last year I was also torn about the color of the iPhone 15, between black (which I've always had) and natural titanium. I chose natural. This year, always switching things up, I think I'll go back to black.

Do the ultra 2 has the voice isolation mode like they claim it is now present on the series 10?

Can anyone tell what the on-watch music storage limit is? Coming from Apple Watch 6, I was hoping for some meaningful improvement.

Anyone have an update on this?

I'm getting mixed reports on how much onboard storage one is able to access on the different AW versions

I'm considering trying one as just an on wrist iPod Shuffle and not sure how old I can go before I'm getting a very gimped storage situation

Any insights are very much appreciated

When AW had a total of 32 GB storage (AW 7 I think) music/media was limited to 8 GB.
AW9/10/Ultra have 64GB so it would seem plausible that the limit is at least 16 GB, but, there seems to be no information on this anywhere so I’d ask Apple support.

Has anybody seen a side by side comparison between the Jet Black and the Slate version?
I´m still unsure which one I like better on the product pictures, so this would probably help. :)
Bought both for my son as he couldn’t make up his mind mind with matching Milanese bands.the slate veseion won hands down. Very classy and elegant looking. scratch free to date.couldnt pass up the ultra2 in black with remarkable Milanese band. the slate is no jet black, but more of an off black in certain lighting. It has a dignity about it.

I love the black ultra with the metal band
Traded in my u1 for the black/black Milanese combo and could no be happier. battery life is 3+days and it fast charges in 20-15min to 100% I had 2 u1 watches as I switch and wear when sleeping.now I’m down to 1 and I don’t need/want another black watch. I like the raw titanium, but probably gonna hang on to this one until a proper u3 comes out.
