iPhone X here, 11.2 has been very bad for me. I used to get 7-8 hours usage, all day and more standby without much of the battery saving measures on 11.1.2, now thats come down to 6.5 hours and standby less than a day despite battery saving steps enabled on 11.2.
Whatsapp is a major battery drain. Though BG refresh is off for it, it shows 1.5 hrs usage and 45 min standby over a 24 hr period.

I do too but it still has excessive background activity for me.

Thats strange. My on-screen time is always more than my background time.

Yours is still 2% battery usage so its not too bad.

That’s only the last 24hrs. It’s a bit higher for the last 7 days. However it is less impact I think because I always force close it. Just makes me wonder what it’s doing for so long.

Someone suggested disabling contacts access for whatsapp, there seemed to be minor improvement bg running times, have no idea though what whatsapp is doing with that. That move removed my profile pic. o_O

I have contact access disabled and only put it on briefly if I need to message someone I haven’t messaged before. But then I turn it straight off again. Didn’t do anything for me. The BGA is still excessive.

Battery life has been pretty disappointing on my 6S ever since I upgraded to iOS 11, I actually resorted to buying that weird Smart Battery Case just so I could make it through a day without having my phone almost dead at the end.

For some reason, Safari has started to drain my battery at a high rate again. Used my 6s Plus today 4 times, for 10 min each time, screen brightness is at around 30% and my battery is at 86%. It should be in the lower 90%.

I haven’t complained about battery life or any major issues with iOS 11. But, This is really bad.
Even my iPads battery life has gone down the drain this weekend.

Used my iPhone for 15min in Safari, screen brightens at 10%, on WiFi and battery life has dropped from 86% to 76%.
Went through all the settings, pretty much everything is turned off or disabled.

This is horse ****! Safari is bugged in iOS 11.2.1.

I’ve been noticing this since iOS 11 dropped. My fear is the machine learning is too aggressive and is causing excessive drain. It’s trying to learn you on the device causing higher drain, which would explain why only the new iPhone 8 and IPhone X don’t have problems because the processors were made for that.

Hello! I have made an account so I can write my concern about my brand new iPhone 8 safari and it's battery. I have newest IOS 11.2.6. I also attached a file. Last 24 hours, safari has been in use about 1 minute and it has used battery 45%. That's crazy!

I also have a iPad Air with IOS 11.2.6. Now I remember! Same problem is with my iPad. At this moment it shows me Last 24 hours, Safari has been in use about 1 hr and it has used battery 91%. Unbelievable!

Someone in this thread has suggested to turn off Siri in Safari settings. I'll try that out and I give response about this issue.

Should I switch this off?
