I got my 14" M1 Pro 1TB on launch day, have only been using the optimised charging.

I'm slightly worried to be honest.

My 16" Pro from work stays plugged in and docked almost all the time. I rarely remove it from my desk, and have been using it just about every day since the first week of March. The optimized charging built into macOS keeps it at 80% most of the time, and the health is still reporting as 100%. Not sure what it does while not booted up, as I don't pay that much attention to it anymore. I'll have to look tomorrow morning.

Honestly, I think people worry way too much about this and spend way too much time trying to micromanage it. Yes, it's an expensive computer, and yes, you want it to last as long as possible, but there comes a time where the juice isn't really worth the squeeze so to speak. Do you want to USE the computer or constantly worry about how many charge cycles you've used up?

Well said! Worse case, you get a new battery installed. No big deal.

So, I think I am having some indications about how 'optimized battery charge' of monterey works.

I keep a pattern of leaving mbp to drop its battery charge around 80%.
Then, I plug power again.
I keep this pattern about 3 weeks now.

So, I noticed, that it no longer charges battery at once.
Instead, it charges it from 80 to approximately 90%,
and then it stops charging about an hour.
Then it proceeds and charges battery to full 100%.

Again, I am not completely sure that it is 'optimized battery charge' of monterey or something else,
but I think that mac handles this charge in its own, possibly better way.
