Yet the plus has a smaller battery and supposedly a less power-efficient and slightly larger display.

My 8Plus right now is sitting at 76% with 4hr 24minutes of usage and 11hr 29 minutes of standby. I easily get 8-10hours of usage a day, 18+ hours of standby, and that includes at least 1 hour of Pokemon Go.
The faceID technology is significantly more complex technology than the touchID. it’s basically a Microsoft Kinect crunched into that small notch. Think about that for a sec.

10 hours of on screen usage? That’s pretty solid for v30/android!

And I’m sure Face ID requires quite some juice for bionic face detection stuffs / Face ID

150 nits is roughly 25 percent brightness just FYI

My display is quite bright at low levels tho

That coupled w a dark theme if x ever gets a jailnreak for OLED efficiency would DESTROY!!
This is with pretty decent usage.

Edit: Dark themes and wallpapers help a ton!

I’m getting 12+ hours usage on my X (this is from the usage staristics from a full charge and no recharging in between)

I’m very impressed!

What % brightness are you hovering around, and LTE/WiFi/ mixed

And what are you doing on your phone during this time?

Question overload but :D

Curious

Agreed. I got 8 hours of screen on time and 14 hours standby yesterday. It was amazing coming from a 6s.

Those results are ridiculous

Let us know if its consistently reproducible over time

U got the golden ticket!
Hehe, thanks!

I’m usually pretty unlucky on battery life before...my iPhobe 6+ degraded to 70% capacity after only a couple of months.

I know it might not make a difference but I’m not charging overnight this time. I take it off the charger as soon as it reaches 100% and it seems to be improving. It might just be placebo but I’ll keep doing this for now...especially easier charging wirelesly.

I have the V30, I easily exceed 10 hours. If I get another iPhone, it'll probably be the 8 Plus. I'm okay with my 7 Plus for now.

The 8 Plus has stellar battery life. I thought my 7 Plus was good and it couldn't any better, but the 8 Plus proved me otherwise.

I'm an ex 7+ user and I'm blown away by the X's battery. Normally I'm right around 55-60% come 2 pm when I go to lunch, same usage everyday during the work week for me. With the X, I'm regularly at 80-85% come lunch time and that is just astounding and my phone usage habits have not changed one bit either. The battery is leagues better than the 7+ for me at least.
I am too an ex 6 Plus, 6S Plus, and 7 Plus user. Normally my 7+ was down to 30% by mid afternoon and in need of a charge. At 9:30pm I am still above 50%. Incredible!

Good to see everyone having the same
Results as me.. yeeeee

Sorry for my confusion. When people say they set up the phone as new do they mean they started the phone up fresh - without a backup - and then applied the backup??

Nope, they stay new...no restoring from backup.

Restoring from back-up is now easier with iOS 11 where the new phone will ask you to put your old phone beside it and you’ll be able to migrate your old phone’s info to the new one. This is faster than restoring from iCloud.

It's funny how 6 hours is amazing to some people... Yet here I am with a 2 year old 6S+ and I get 10-12 hours usage time on it daily. The 8+ gets even more than that.
6 hours is a little low IMHO. My X can last 12+ hours on a single charge (my iPhone X, I mean).

You do not get 12+ hours of usage time in the battery stats on the X. It's impossible unless you are listening to audio which is artificially increasing the number.

Yes, I was...i’ll provide a screen shot here tomorrow. Right now it’s charging.

My usage is a mixture of Web surfing, music, email and 1/2 brightness. I don’t know why people are only getting 6 hrs or less on theirs...are they running brightness full blast?

I had brightness all the way down, location off, no social apps, every app closed except messages, LTE off, Wifi on, and my phone could only get 7-8 hours... If I played music all day then it would show 12+ hours of use. But it's not really being used. I know I was on the phone for 1 hour 38 minutes, the phone was locked and on my desk with my earbuds in and the battery started on 78% and ended up to 38%.

You are adding confusion here. When we talk about usage, we mean the posted usage on the phone’s battery statistics regardless of use..and that includes music. It’s part of the usage of the phone.

Why turn off Wifi, LTE, etc. and not use the phone as intended...just to get actual usage statistics, you say? Nope... you have to have them on, use the phone, and yes listen to music and monitor the battery stats in Settings. That’s the correct way...no confusion, no mix-up.
