I wouldn’t upgrade just for the improved battery life. They should be close enough that if that’s all you want, it’s not worth an upgrade. If anything, buy a battery case.

iPhone 8/Plus Battery life...

We can only take what we are offered. The battery in every iPhone to date is “small”. A galaxy s8+ is the same size as an iPhone 8 Plus and is 3500mah. Apple gets a ton out of their small batteries. If they gave us more mah, iPhones would be untouchable.
Question? How does it feel now as of Jan 19? I don't about anyone else, but it's not even remotely the same as it used to be just a month ago!
I was out for briefly yesterday, taking some photos, some video with this - before I HAD to get back in my heated car - and I noticed it was down from 100% to 81% in just 15, 16 minutes?! No I wasn't shooting long videos that would eat up battery life.
This morning, the same deal...I went outside to grab a few pics, some artsy fartsy shots of ice crystals on my windshield with the sun reflecting on it before work. Again it WAS 100%...I come back in and the phone shows 94%. Might not sound extreme, but I think so with just 3, 4 minutes of photo taking.
The crazy thing is I bought the X in late Nov., but I returned it Jan 8th, final Holiday return day...so my IP8+ hasn't been used that much in this time period.
Again, I guess I have to ask the usual question. Did the latest IOS 11.2.2 update mess up a very, VERY good iPhone 8+ battery life? Speed of the phone feels the same.

I've heard the cold really affects some iPhones. Older ones are said to even shut down in extreme cold. Not sure if that's what's happening since you have an 8+. Try it out by taking pics inside for 10 minutes to see what happens
Yeah I’ve had no problems here with my battery life on 8+! I am always getting at least 5 hours of screen time when the phone gets to 50 percent and it always lasts me a whole day with around 40 percent left to spare. By then I’m usually around 7 hours of screen time! Amazing!
No big issues when I used it today. But on charging it when I got home, it seemed to sit at 89% for well over 30 minutes...that seemed odd to me.
I ended up doing a hard reset, when it booted back up it read 100%. Eh, not sure what that was about.
It seems to be ok I guess. It got some very heavy use with photos and video Sunday night and had it down to 55% in about 3 hours. That's not bad at all.
Have you looked into the iPhone 7 Battery Case from Apple? I would recommend it.
I haven't, really didn't think about it to be honest. Just on normal use throughout the day has been fine. I spoke too too soon though..little goofy with the % number again. Once again charging after I got home it was stuck on 90% for over 1 hour. I did a hard reboot again and it showed 100%. I have had this similar issue with my iPad Pro for over a year, I would use it...battery would drop down to 40, 50% whatever. I'd charge it then it would just stop at 96%, 98%. It's very random. So it's almost like it's showing 90-something percent, when it really is 100%.
Not affecting the phone, the speed...just a slight frustrating "bug," flaw...something. MAYBE this new 11.5 update will fix it, who knows. Past updates never fixed the iPad Pro battery % oddity. I have AppleCare on this thing, if it keeps acting up I'll bring it in.
Yeah I have to see also. Again it was "stuck" at 97% for over 90 minutes yesterday, I did the update last night and then it showed 94% but charged to 100%.
See what happens as the day goes on.
This is the 3rd day with 11.2.5...I actually think it improved the battery life somewhat on my 8 Plus. Anyone else notice this?
I love not having to budget my usage and be so careless in i do on my phone. The main selling point for me on the Plus is the 16:9 form factor, large 5.5" display, 3gb ram, and of course, the battery. Pretty much same reason I have my Huawei Mate 9 as well. Stellar 2 day battery life.
Right? I can use my 8 Plus however and whenever I want and even with my heavy usage, I’m at about 40 percent by bedtime! It’s amazing! That alone makes it better than the X IMO! As I said on multiple threads on here...batter life > edge to edge screen.
