well, I don't give you ****. Bush is nothing to do with the game. plus, don't mention damn bush. I will kill you.

Wow are you 12? Does coming on a forum and talking all big and bad and threatening to kill someone make you feel like a man? My reference to Bush, well, obviously was way over your head. Next time I'll reference Dr. Suess so you can understand what the adults are discussing.

I'm just curious. I bought BBC2 for Windows instead of Xbox so I could play a few mates who are hardcore Battlefield fanatics, but I've not been able to play for more than 5 minutes without the game freezing or completely crashing my Mac Pro.

I'm running Windows 7, with 7GB of ram and a X1900 graphics card.

The X1900 is your issue, see if you can pick up an 8800GT or something in the GTX series and you'll be fine. On my MBP the 9600GT handles the game just fine, though it can't compare with my PC.

Thanks. Can you tell me which GTX is compatible with a 2006 Mac Pro though?

IMHO an ATI Radeon 4870 would be the best choice. They are known to
work in the very first Mac Pro even tho Apple says they don't. Make
sure you either buy a flashed one or directly from Apple.

Yes, you can save about $150 by buying a PC version 4870 or 4890 and then flashing it. That's a little complicated, but there is a lot of support for that process here on MR.

The Mac version 4870 works perfectly well on the Mac 1,1 (2006)...I had that machine and it was a drop-in. I downloaded the catalyst drivers for the Windows side to run it under Boot Camp and that GPU ran COD4 much much better than my 8800GT did. I replaced my 1,1 with a 2009 Mac Pro and put the 4870 in that. It runs BC2 well, but that program does seem to be more demanding of the GPU than COD4 was. I could run COD4 at max resolution with all graphics at max, but I have to turn BC2 down a little in order to sustain good frame rates.

Help

Guys, I installed my BC2 on Bootcamp and on Parallels to and when I want to play the game is freezing all the time. I cannot even start. It makes no difference if single or multiplayer. Everything is updated ( Pbuster and the game )
Could anyone give me an advise please?
Thanks a lot!

Have you tried changing your permissions to admin for the games exe file? Which OS are you running? I get ctd sometimes, hoping this will be patched out of it.

Don't run the game in a virtual machine.

Don't even bother trying to play a hardware-intensive FPS game like BC2 under Parallels or Fusion. You have to play it natively by booting into Windows.

Thank you guys!
I solved the problem by updating XP TO windows 7. I was using XP SP3.
Now everything is working perfect! It just took me a few hours but....I'm happy now :)

Hrrrmmm... How does one update XP on windows 7?

Or are you trying to tell us you updated TO 7?

Core i7 iMac, 8gb RAM, Windows 7 64bit here. Game runs absolutely sweetly, and I can *almost* tolerate playing it on max everything bar AA and HBAO (the latter is a frame rate slaughterer) at 2560x1440.

The one thing that frustrates me is that 1920x1080 is a perfectly acceptable resolution, albeit not quite as sexy as native, but I can't for the life of me get the game to run full screen without black borders at this resolution- I managed to do it by hooking up a 1080p, 24" monitor in mirrored mode... but that's a sub-optimal solution for sure.

Installing the latest ATI Catalyst drivers on the iMac don't seem to yield the Catalyst control panel, where I assume you'd usually turn on stretch-to-fit to the LCD panel.

On the i7 iMac it's really a trade-off between max everything and 1080p, or just a little detail reduction and 1440p. Obviously the frag-happy purists will favour low everything with a high resolution and high FSAA/AF but it's refreshing to have a game look so beautiful after stepping away from PC gaming for so many years.

A Mac port is almost a certainty, but I don't hold out any hope of it being truly native, or offering the level of performance I get from the Windows version. Let's hope to hell that Steam block Cider wrapped crap from their service. I'd be wanting to play the Mac port in ultra low detail on my 13" MacBook Pro, for those quick fixes, so performance matters!

Same setup except I have an i7 with 10GB ram and I'm using Windows XP SP 3.

I've played the game for 2 hours at the longest on Multiplayer before a freezeup.
I have had to hard restart my machine at least 15 times in the past 4 days.
I am disabling sound now to see if that helps at all but I like my sound so I hope they come up with a fix.

I stopped running at full res, I am settling for 1920x1080 to prevent more lockups.
